Apocalypse Rebirth: Making Billions With My Fortune-Telling Skill
Chapter 245: A KnightWith the venue inspection wrapped up, April found herself back at the Estate, and in a car with Alexander.
His trust was currently sitting at ninety-nine point one percent, very close to the threshold.
Observing how Xavier’s trust had spiked to one hundred percent right after he spoke his mind, April reasoned that Alexander might be holding back as well—perhaps too shy, or simply too prideful to spill his guts.
After all, the proud heir of the Greels family had never confessed to a woman in his life, even though he had boldly pressed a kiss to her forehead recently, only to act completely aloof afterward to dodge any awkwardness.
April was currently seated at the passenger’s seat while Alexander was behind the wheel, taking a quiet route on the estate grounds.
She leaned back against the headrest, her eyes studying his sharp profile as he maneuvered the vehicle. "Alexander... is there something you want to tell me?"
Alexander’s hands tightened on the steering wheel. He kept his eyes glued to the road, but the sudden tension in his broad shoulders betrayed him.
"Keep me close," the words came out of his lips too quickly, taking her completely aback.
April blinked, turning her head to look at him. "What?"
"I understand I’m not as useful as Xavier, or as commanding as Nat Collins," Alexander blurted out, his posture stiffening. "But April... I adore you too. Not just because you’re a seer, or because you saved my grandfather. I..."
His words jumbled, tripping over his own pride. Taking a sharp, deep breath, he pulled the Jeep over to the corner of the path, killed the engine, and turned in his seat to look her dead in the eyes. His striking blue eyes gleamed with raw, unfiltered conviction.
"I want to be among the ones you call forth when you are troubled, when you need company, when you..." He suddenly shoved his fingers through his hair in annoyance, groaning in frustration. "Dammit! That’s all wrong! What am I even saying?!"
He was clearly struggling to articulate the churning mess of emotions inside him.
"The thing is... I like you, April," he continued, his voice dropping into a fierce, grounded tone. "And I want to be selfish and greedy. I want you for myself, but I know that’s not possible. Someone as extraordinary as you cannot have just one person by her side. No matter where you go or what you do, so many powerful figures will gather around you, so..."
Alexander balled his right hand into a fist and struck it firmly against his chest, right over his heart.
"Let me serve you. Let me offer my shoulder. Let me be among the ones you look to, April," he urged, his gaze burning into hers. "Do not leave me behind. I mean it."
April went completely silent. The weight of his declaration hung in the air of the quiet Jeep.
And then... "Knight," the word abruptly escaped her lips.
Alexander blinked, momentarily stunned out of his intense declaration. "What?"
April turned her head away for a second, her brow knitting together in subtle confusion. Why did I say knight?
Then it clicked. His solemn, desperate speech just now felt strikingly like a solemn ’vow’—much like the scene from the drama she and Emily had watched the night before, where a blonde-haired, blue-eyed knight knelt to swear his soul to the princess until death.
Now, this isn’t one of those melodramatic stories, April told herself dryly, or at least, I’d like to think it isn’t. But the comparison was undeniable.
"Alexander," April said, turning back to face him, her voice calm and measured. "If I promise you this, will you be happy? I mean, you would essentially be like a knight following a lord... or a princess. Is that what this feels like to you?"
Alexander searched her face, repeating the word softly under his breath. "Knight..."
It rolled off his tongue surprisingly well. A confident, handsome smirk spread across his lips, erasing his previous frustration. "A knight has an important role to protect, right? Then yes, April. I will be your knight."
He flashed a brilliant grin—one that seemed to shine far brighter than normal, radiating pure, untamed relief.
"It makes you that happy, huh?" April whispered softly, amused by the dramatic shift in his mood.
Without hesitation, Alexander reached out and captured her hand, bringing it up to his lips to press a firm, reverent kiss against the back of her knuckles.
"Happy? I’m ecstatic," he murmured, his blue eyes locking onto hers with absolute fierce devotion. "I’ll swear fidelity to you if that’s what it takes, April. So don’t you dare leave me behind, got it?"
April looked at his bold smirk and her hand wrapped comfortably in his. A low, soft chuckle escaped her lips, and she scoffed playfully.
"Just don’t get in my way," she said, laughing softly as the heavy tension melted away entirely.
PING!
A brilliant, golden system prompt instantly burst open in her line of sight, expanding over the dashboard.

So that’s how this works, huh? Because I named him a knight, his class suddenly became a knight. It’s like some sort of fantasy series... It’s unreal.
"Alexander, do you feel any different?" she asked, her eyes searching his face for any subtle shift.
"Aside from the fact that I feel like the luckiest man alive right now?" Alexander let out a low, breathy laugh, his posture completely relaxing. "No. But my heart feels light, and I just want to..."
His voice trailed off into a quiet, intense whisper. Leaning forward across the console, he reached out, his long fingers gently intertwining into her hair.
He slowly pulled her closer, his touch extraordinarily tender, until their foreheads rested softly against each other.
Their breathing merged in the small, quiet space of the cabin, their eyes so close they could see every flicker of emotion reflected in each other’s gaze.
"Be like this," he whispered, his warm breath fanning across her skin.
April felt her heart skip a sharp, uncharacteristic beat in that exact moment, the sudden flutter in her chest catching her off guard.
"Alexander..." she whispered softly.
"Yes, April?" he murmured, a gentle, brilliant smile touching his lips as his blue eyes locked onto hers with absolute, unwavering devotion. "I’m right here."
