Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

Chapter 498 - 446: Blowing Bubbles!

"Did you bring the dropper?"

Zhang Su took out a small bottle and realized he didn’t have a sampling tool. He couldn’t just pour it out carelessly; that would be foolish.

"I brought it, here!"

Yu Qing, meticulous as always, took out a dropper with a minimum unit of 0.1 milliliters and handed it to Zhang Su.

Holding the dropper, Zhang Su carefully unscrewed the glass bottle’s cap, recalling the power of that test. Then, he proceeded to fill both bottles sequentially.

"We’ll call these powerful bombs ’grape.’ Luezi, you use this first, then this one. I shouldn’t need to teach you how to maximize the explosion’s lethality, right?"

Zhang Su handed the two bombs to Wu Lue, specifically noting the order since the Ascension Original Liquid infused in each bomb was different. The first was extracted from the brain of a Venom Zombie found by the Cyan Dragon Corps, and the second was extracted from the brain of the Venom Zombie that Ju Mumio had hung as a Sunny Day Doll.

The two types of Ascension Original Liquid had slightly different concentrations but were indistinguishable overall. This opportunity for comparison was an excellent chance for Zhang Su to see if there was any difference in explosion effects.

Wu Lue carefully noted the order, an uncontainable excitement on his face as he nodded, saying, "Brother Su, don’t worry, I know to attract the zombies first before throwing the bombs. When the time comes, I’ll inform you by saying the ’grape is in place,’ how’s that?"

"That’s very much your style..."

Zhang Su didn’t intervene, giving his subordinates plenty of freedom.

Yu Qing rolled her eyes from the side; these two guys really had no restraint.

Zhang Su and Yu Qing left Qingfeng Courtyard and walked briskly towards the parking lot, seeing Xie Yanshan pushing Fu Weijun out of the lab.

"Mr. Zhang, the situation seems rather tricky. Is there anything we can do to help?"

Fu Weijun calmly inquired.

He and Xie Yanshan heard the news over the intercom while busy in the lab. Although they usually ignored outside affairs, they couldn’t remain indifferent to today’s crisis.

Zhang Su smiled, walked over to Fu Weijun, and patted his shoulder, saying, "Dr. Fu, you’ve done what you needed to do. Just wait and watch the fireworks!"

With that, he and Yu Qing continued towards the parking lot without stopping.

On the highway, people anxiously waited. Soon, they saw a van driving down from the mountain. Something felt off, and as it got closer, it indeed seemed wrong. Eight people, looking sheepish, approached Li Zongkai.

Li Zongkai did not harshly blame his former brothers. They were not traitors of great wickedness, so he offered them a chance for redemption, allowing them to take up weapons and join the ranks.

After waiting a while longer, Zhang Su and Yu Qing finally returned. Before everyone could understand the situation, they saw a dark figure take off from the forest, an unmanned aircraft slowly flying towards the Northwest, seemingly carrying something underneath, but it didn’t look like a loudspeaker.

"Old Pan, once we engage the zombie crowd here, immediately set out north with the tank to block them. But don’t get into a drawn-out battle; save some fuel to come back to camp!"

As the car came to a stop, Zhang Su got out and gave instructions.

"Got it, leave it to me!"

As a tank driver, Pan Guoliang felt conflicted. His safety was secure; even if the tank ran out of fuel and stalled in the zombie crowd, he wouldn’t lose his life because zombies couldn’t open the iron can. However, he didn’t want the situation to escalate to that point, as it would mean failure, the failure of the whole camp.

He’d been through it once and didn’t want a second time!

Sitting in the tank’s cockpit, half of his body emerged from the tank. He took a cigarette from his pocket and lit it, the smoke weaving through his fingers like a tank weaving through the zombie crowd.

Back at the frontline, Zhang Su saw more than a hundred pairs of eyes fixed on him, some with soaring battle spirit, some calm and expressionless, others nervous and apprehensive...

"Due to a plotted scheme, everyone came to Celestial Horse Island, where we’ve now become friends and will be companions and brothers in the future. As the host of Celestial Horse Island, I haven’t had a chance to prepare a proper welcome ceremony for all of you. So why not watch a grand fireworks display instead?"

Zhang Su’s words, which were logical yet incomprehensible, left everyone other than the Yama Corps bewildered.

Some noticed that when Zhang Su mentioned the grand fireworks, many in the Yama Corps suddenly had a peculiar smile, as if anticipating something long-awaited.

Without explaining to everyone, Zhang Su picked up the intercom and said, "Luezi, start!"

There was no response because Wu Lue was manipulating two remote controls with both hands, his eyes shifting between two screens, unable to spare a hand to press the talk button.

Seven or eight hundred meters away, the drone carrying a blaring loudspeaker ceased circling and slowly flew towards the larger mass of zombies to the Northwest. Below, the zombies, like a demonic dance, chased the sound’s source.

Initially, the zombie crowd was a "circle," but as the sound source departed, it stretched into a "line," chasing northwards.

Unfortunately, as the sound source moved further away, some zombies couldn’t keep up the pace and started lagging, causing the zombie horde to stretch longer and longer like a piece of dough...

Combat personnel gathered behind the barricades took turns observing the distant zombie crowd through binoculars, unsure of the plan but not voicing questions, mostly whispering among themselves instead.

"Brother Su, how much did you use this time?"

Chen Hanzhou approached Zhang Su and asked cautiously.

The few people nearby heard the conversation and looked at Zhang Su. There were members of the Yama Corps, equally curious, and there were others who didn’t know why.

Zhang Su simply gave them a smile and said, "Guess when the time comes."

The reason he didn’t say was that he wasn’t entirely sure himself; maintaining an air of mystery seemed better. While a trump card could be revealed, it shouldn’t be completely exposed, to keep others wary.

The horde drawn into a line in the west stood in the wilderness, it couldn’t immediately reorient to locate the human magnetic field and the time needed was unknown.

Time ticked away. After five minutes, some began lighting cigarettes, whether from relaxation or increased tension. Another five minutes passed, and more people lit cigarettes. The murmurs of conversation also grew.

Because of the Fire-breathing Zombie, everyone gathered around the box truck. It wasn’t too cold, but waiting was still uncomfortable.

Suddenly, a message came from the sentry post, reporting that the northern zombie crowd was one and a half kilometers away from Celestial Horse Island’s northern edge!

Without waiting for orders, Pan Guoliang got into the tank, closed the hatch, and stood ready.

The encroaching zombie horde’s news weighed heavily on everyone’s hearts, and at that moment...

"The grape is in place!"

Just as some people’s patience was about to be entirely eaten away, a stern voice came from the Yama Corps’ radios, the content surprisingly casual...

"Whew..."

Zhang Su licked his dry lips, rubbed his cheeks, and pointed to the Northwest. In the sky, two drones rapidly returned, and he said, "Watch the fireworks."

Everyone’s gaze focused on the Northwest.

Zhang Su pressed the remote control in his hand.

Three, two, one...

"Hmm?"

Zhang Xin frowned, sensing a momentary distortion in the distant air.

Before he could form any new thoughts, a purple sphere of light suddenly appeared in the distance. It materialized as if from nowhere, as if the earth was chewing a blueberry-flavored bubblegum and blew a big bubble, vibrant and sci-fi in color!

Due to the distance, it was challenging to determine the diameter of the purple bubble precisely, but it seemed at least twenty meters high!

The strange glow elicited "wow" exclamations from many, treating the phenomenon as a grand firework. Some felt it resembled a spacecraft landing on Earth.

The opportunity to peacefully enjoy the "grand firework" was brief, around three seconds, before...

Boom!

After a short sonic boom, a thunderous sound exploded in everyone’s ears, startling those absorbed by the bizarre purple and making the heart pound fiercely.

Simultaneously, the purple fireworks contracted violently and instantly vanished, as if never there!

The loud bang instinctively terrified many, clutching their ears and curling their bodies tight.

Following the loud bang, the naked eye could see various debris in the distance thrown into the air—clumps of dirt, grass, stones, and zombies, both living and those shredded by the shockwave, not in short supply. Dust and sand rose, mixed with shattered remains flying everywhere...

Rumbling, rumbling.

The sound waves crashed against Celestial Horse Island Mountain, echoing in waves.

Whoosh!

As the shockwave weakened with distance, it still kicked up a storm of dust as it reached the crowd, patting against clothes and making rustling noises. Some cried out loudly from getting cuts on their cheeks, the metallic vehicle bodies clanged like sand shaken in a rattle.

Even a kilometer away, the impact was so intense. The shock and disbelief were apparent on everyone’s faces.
