Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person
Chapter 504 - 452: Don’t Let Things End BadlyZhang Su and his group returned to the camp to find that the atmosphere on Celestial Horse Island was completely different from before the great battle.
Previously, everyone gathered at the camp, harboring a sense of vigilance towards one another, with clear divides between factions. But now, it’s different; those who can help with work are doing so, while the idle ones are gathered in groups of threes and fives, chatting and laughing.
The whole of Celestial Horse Island emitted a joyful energy. If not for the people appearing too bedraggled, one might believe a big company was here for team-building.
However, the core members of Celestial Horse Island didn’t quite like this atmosphere, because this is their home.
Zhang Su and the others got off the vehicle, and Li Zongkai immediately took notice; he had a lot he wanted to discuss with Zhang Su and walked quickly forward. However, someone was even faster than him, a slender figure darting past him towards Zhang Su, forcing him to slow his steps.
"Brother Su, someone is being dishonest. I saw someone sneaking our pickled vegetables and canned goods, even stealthily pinching meat from the pot!"
Just after getting out of the car, Zhang Su saw Mo Qianlan rush over like the wind, complaining angrily.
Earlier, she was busy in the kitchen with her mom and saw someone stealing food. She intended to speak up but was stopped by Tan Huajun, who told her that the situation was special and asked her to report to Zhang Su first.
So Mo Qianlan had been waiting. Upon seeing Zhang Su return, she rushed over to complain: "I tried to reason with them, but... they wouldn’t admit it!"
Lu Yubo, upon hearing his wife’s words, got angry immediately, his eyebrows raised, and said, "Are they trying to rebel, damn it..."
Zhang Su glared at Lu Yubo, signaling him to be quiet, then asked Mo Qianlan, "Who was it?"
"Those guys over there."
Mo Qianlan signaled with her eyes towards four people sitting against the wall of Wangshan Folklore, smoking, her face full of grievance and anger.
Zhang Su remembered those guys; they were members of the Survivor Alliance Pioneer Team, under Cai Zhichao. He couldn’t understand why upright Survivor Alliance combat personnel would do such shameless things and not even admit it when caught red-handed by a young girl...
He wouldn’t doubt Mo Qianlan. Though she didn’t speak much usually, she would never falsely accuse strangers!
Zhang Su knew these people were genuinely willing to join Celestial Horse Island, but he overlooked an important factor: willingness doesn’t always equate to good intentions.
Some sincerely sought protection and felt grateful to find a better camp.
Some wished to huddle together, working hard to become part of the team.
Even more wanted to contribute their strength to build a beautiful tomorrow!
Since there are good ones, there will surely be those trying to muddle through. These petty thefts are considered minor offenses; Zhang Su realized Mo Qianlan hesitated a bit at the end, probably because those four guys not only denied it but also mocked her!
"Brother Su, we must teach these guys a lesson; Lanlan would never lie to us!"
"Don’t worry, I know what to do."
Zhang Su signaled Lu Yubo to stay quiet, then looked at Pang Dakun, who was making faces on the side.
"Dakun, these little Karamis are showing off their skills in front of you, the master. Should we teach them a good lesson?"
Pang Dakun smiled disdainfully, "I know exactly where they hid the stuff on their bodies. These people are just used to being dishonest; they’re not even qualified to be my apprentices!"
"Wow, quite a bold statement. So will you help me deal with them?" Zhang Su asked with a smile.
"Uncle, just tell me how to cooperate. They’re just bandits, don’t call them thieves!"
Stealing isn’t good behavior, of course, but when a skill is honed to perfection, it’s still an art. To Pang Dakun, theft is an art, and he wouldn’t let reckless bandits tarnish it.
"Let’s go, you all come with me! Xiaolan, you too."
Zhang Su waved his hand, signaling everyone to follow him towards the pickpockets.
"This place is way too damn comfortable. What bullshit place did Liao Youzhi choose!"
Leaning against the wall, a scrawny man smoked a cigarette and looked through the smoke at the azure sky, content at the thought of soon eating pork with potatoes and noodles.
"Old Donkey wasn’t wrong. Hundreds of people crammed into a building, and if someone farts on the first floor, you can hear it on the fourth. What kind of situation is that?"
"Oh, come on, you didn’t stay on the fourth floor, so what do you know about farts?"
"Haha, if I’d known rural areas were so much better than cities, I would’ve left ages ago... huh? Quick, stand up."
The four were chatting when they noticed Zhang Su leading a group towards them. They quickly stood up, greeting with smiles.
"Hello, King Yama, brothers of the Yama Corps, thank you for your help today, it was hard work."
"Yes, hard work indeed."
Seeing Zhang Su approach, the four exchanged polite words.
"We’ve worked hard, and you guys were busy in the kitchen too, so it’s been tough. Hand over the stuff now."
Zhang Su didn’t exchange pleasantries, getting straight to the point, though he maintained a friendly demeanor with a faint smile. He was in a great mood, hoping for an easy resolution, but the situation didn’t meet his expectations.
The four looked at each other, with the gaunt-faced man brushing his head and smiling apologetically, "King Yama, we’re not quite sure what you mean. What things should we hand over?"
"Xiaolan, you tell them."
Zhang Su gestured for Mo Qianlan to point out the offenders.
"I..."
Mo Qianlan, previously angry at finding the culprits, felt nervous about accusing them now.
Lu Yubo, noticing her fear, patted his chest, "Lanlan, you don’t need to be afraid of these guys; I’m here. Let’s see who dares to do anything to you!"
He used to be a part of the underworld and knew all about seeking revenge reckoning after the event. For him, this was nothing.
Zhang Su felt a bit speechless looking at his number one protégé. This guy usually lacked a few screws, but when it came to his girlfriend, he was smart. Love can make people foolish, but it can also make them shrewd.
He deliberately stayed silent, leaving this opportunity for Lu Yubo to play the hero protecting the beauty.
Feeling the courage from Lu Yubo, and secretly glancing at Zhang Su to see his calm demeanor, Mo Qianlan regained her confidence and began listing the dishonesty of the culprits.
"Hey little sister, why are you accusing us of stealing? We already told you we didn’t..."
"King Yama, don’t listen to the little girl’s nonsense. We’ve just arrived; how could we be stealing things."
"Little sister, even though you’re from Celestial Horse Island and we’ve been very polite, you shouldn’t wrong good people."
"Yes, I admit I tried some stewed meat from the kitchen before, but that was with the chef’s consent. I didn’t take anything!"
The four big men, facing accusations from a fifteen or sixteen-year-old girl, looked uncomfortable and defended themselves vigorously.
Many people saw Zhang Su’s group walking from the parking area to the B&B area, but they didn’t pay much attention, at most nodding and smiling in greeting. But now it seemed there was something interesting to watch, and soon, a crowd gathered.
"My wife never lies. Something she witnessed with her own eyes must be true. I advise you to be honest, or this will get out of hand."
Lu Yubo knew exactly the behavior of ruffians and scoundrels since he was once one himself. The guys before him were clearly bullshitting!
"But we really didn’t, ah, Captain Cai, you’re here just in time. We’re being wronged."
By chance, Team Two captain Cai Zhichao emerged from the crowd, and the scrawny man waved desperately for help.
Cai Zhichao stepped closer, his face filled with confusion as he looked at the scene, puzzled.
"Captain Cai, please speak to King Yama about it..."
"King Yama, what happened?"
Cai Zhichao smiled as he spoke. Though not very articulate, he was efficient in handling matters, having been a team leader on an assembly line in a factory before.
"One of our sisters saw some of your men taking things from the kitchen without informing us."
Zhang Su’s words were clear.
Cai Zhichao immediately understood. Taking something without asking, what is that? A thief, eh.
