The wedding turned out to be a lavish affair. The people tasked with preparations said they would make it so that no one would ever forget about it.

When asked, the eldest daughter-in-law of the Li family said that it was Chu Miao who gave them a second chance in life, otherwise, most of them would have perished long ago in the apocalypse.

Thus, there was nothing wrong with celebrating her. Besides, a wedding only happens once in a lifetime and considering how long their lifespan as cultivators were, it was only right to make it so that this celebration can be remembered for many years to come.

Chu Miao listened to their reasoning and didn’t argue. To her, as long as she and Ye Xuan got married, she didn’t care how big or small the ceremony was.

But it was obvious that others didn’t share her carefree attitude.

Thus, on her wedding day, Chu Miao was woken up very early in the morning by her mother to get ready.

The previous day, she and Ye Xuan had been forcefully separated. It was said that the groom could not see the bride the day before their wedding.

Thus, Ye Xuan had been forced to sleep alone.

Moreover, Mother Chu, knowing her daughter, had insisted on sleeping together with her in her bedroom.

She stated that Chu Miao might teleport away to her fiance when no one was around.

Therefore, she needed a chaperone.

The two had no choice but to join endure the pain of separation.

It was buffling how they found that they could almost not function well without each other. Their longing was palpable.

They both wondered whether this was normal or it was another side effect of the dual cultivation technique they practiced.

Nonetheless, they said nothing.

Make up artists and the fashion designers engaged in the designing and sewing of their wedding dress and suit were in their apartment early in the morning.

Chu Miao took a shower and sat at the dressing table for make up and hairstyling.

Even though she was woken up at five in the morning, it was already eight when they were done and she put on her wedding dress.

As her mother and the rest of the family got ready, time slipped by.

The ceremony was scheduled at ten in the newly constructed meeting hall.

Ye Xuan was supposed to pick up his bride from the Chu family residence and carry her downstairs where a carriage pulled by Little White and a few other spirit beasts waited.

The ceremony was both traditional and western.

So, no one really cared about the right procedure. Once in the hall, they bowed to heaven and earth, parents, and each other. The traditional part was complete, then they proceeded with a western style ceremony where they exchanged rings as a symbol of their union.

Chu Miao hadn’t expected this and she didn’t even know there were rings needed. Fortunately, Ye Xuan was part of the planning for this part and he had crafted two simple rings himself.

His ring was simple with a black dragon carved in it and adorned with two black gems where the eyes should be.

They shone as if it could see and would fly out at any moment.

On Chu Miao’s ring, there was a carving of a phoenix. It spread its wings in a stance of taking flight with the spread wings adorned with red fire-like gems.

It resembled a real phoenix.

As soon as the ring was put on her finger, Chu Miao felt as if it had attached itself to her and couldn’t be taken off.

She dismissed this thought thinking that this world didn’t have the materials or the craftsmanship to make something that could recognize its owner so easily.

What she didn’t know was that her feeling was the right.

Ye Xuan had made the rings but he didn’t want them to be ordinary items that could get lost with a little carelessness.

Thus, he had made an oath to the heavenly dao that he and his partner who wore the other ring would be tied together for all eternity.

They couldn’t be separated even by death or reincarnation. They would always find each other with the rings as a guide.

In retrospect, if Chu Miao was ever in a life-threatening situation, no matter how far apart they were, he would share his divine power and life force with her so that she could live.

Nevertheless, Chu Miao was not bound by the same oath.

Ye Xuan also made sure not to let her know because he knew she wouldn’t be happy about it if she found out.

Once rings were exchanged, to Chu Miao’s surprise, President Yu, who had brought You Wane’r to attend the wedding ceremony walked to the altar and presented the two with two red booklets.

When Chu Miao saw what was written on the cover, sh was shocked.

"A marriage certificate? Aren’t government offices not working? How was a marriage license processed?" She asked in surprise.

Even Ye Xuan hadn’t expected this and he looked at President Yu with indescribable emotions.

"As long as we are there, the government is there. It is only a matter of recovering the right equipment to make the marriage license and record it in the newly developed local server. Now, people can continue registering their marriages like before the apocalypse." President Yu was very pleased with himself.

He had been fretting over what to offer these two guardians as a wedding gift and eventually, someone suggested this to him.

Judging by their reaction, they were happy with it.

"Thank you, President." Ye Xuan expressed his gratitude and gave the president a formal military salute.

It was a good thing that he and his wife were the first to receive a legal and formal marriage certificate after the apocalypse.

This also indicated that the people had hope that the apocalypse would end.

Thus, they were trying to restore their lives.
