Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive
Chapter 674: City K"City K," Ye Xuan replied. "Its population exceeded twenty million before the apocalypse. Several surrounding cities were evacuated toward it during the first month."
"Evacuated?"
"The local government attempted to create a large survivor zone there. But communication was lost not long after."
If the evacuation had failed, City K could contain tens of millions of zombies.
Its location was also far from the surviving human bases marked on the map.
It appeared to be a better choice.
However, the city with three black circles bothered Chu Miao.
It was farther away, but the unfamiliar symbol beside it resembled the crown drawn inside the underground command center.
The symbol was not identical, but the resemblance was too obvious to dismiss.
"Could that be where the consciousness is hiding?" Ye Xuan asked.
"Possibly. But it could also be a trap or a place of special importance."
"Do you want to go there?"
"Not before my advancement."
Chu Miao was confident, but she was not reckless.
The consciousness that appeared through the red eye had been powerful enough to attack her sea of consciousness from an unknown distance.
If its physical body was located in the city with three circles, then its actual strength could be much greater.
It was better to enter the Divine Transformation Realm before investigating.
Ye Xuan pointed at City K.
"Then we should choose this one."
"First, we need to confirm whether the zombies are still there."
"I will investigate."
Chu Miao shook her head.
"You just completed your advancement. You should stabilize your cultivation."
"My foundation is stable."
"Stable does not mean completely consolidated."
Ye Xuan wanted to argue, but he knew she was right.
Although the blessed rain had stabilized his new cultivation level, he still needed time to familiarize himself with his increased strength.
His divine sense, meridians, and control over spiritual energy had all changed.
If he failed to adjust properly, he might use too much strength during battle or lose control over an attack.
"I can stabilize my cultivation on the way," he said. "You should prepare inside the Soul Ring."
Chu Miao considered it.
Her breakthrough would require more than protection arrays.
She needed to refine additional array flags, prepare healing pills, and ensure that the guardian beasts would be ready to absorb the blessed rain.
She also wanted to study the fragment of mental energy sealed inside the jade plate.
The fragment could warn them if the powerful consciousness attempted to observe them again.
"Alright," she agreed. "You will remain outside and act as my beacon. I can emerge beside you once you approach City K."
Ye Xuan nodded.
Since his connection with the Soul Ring had strengthened, Chu Miao no longer needed to return to the exact place where she entered.
As long as Ye Xuan remained outside, she could use him as a beacon and open a spatial passage wherever he was.
This allowed them to travel and prepare at the same time.
Before entering the Soul Ring, Chu Miao looked toward the distance.
Several weak energy fluctuations were approaching City S.
"There are people coming," she said.
Ye Xuan had also detected them.
Three vehicles were traveling along a damaged highway outside the city.
The people inside were still far away, but they were moving in their direction.
"They probably saw the tribulation clouds," he said.
"We should leave before they arrive."
The survivors would find an empty city filled with zombie ashes.
Whether they settled there or collected the resources left behind would be their choice.
Chu Miao and Ye Xuan had already taken the crystal cores, maps, and anything connected to the intelligent zombies.
There was no reason to interfere with the survivors.
Ye Xuan stored the maps in his space ring.
Chu Miao placed her hand against his chest.
"I will enter the Soul Ring now."
Ye Xuan covered her hand with his.
"Don’t rush your preparations, baby. If the suppression barrier becomes unstable, come out immediately."
"I know."
"And don’t study that mental energy fragment alone."
"You will be cultivating while traveling."
"I can stop."
Chu Miao looked at his serious expression and knew that he would not compromise on this matter.
"Fine. I will only reinforce the seal. We can study it together after my breakthrough."
Ye Xuan was finally satisfied.
He lowered his head and kissed her forehead.
"I will call you when we approach City K."
Chu Miao nodded.
The space around her fluctuated before she disappeared into the Soul Ring.
Ye Xuan remained in the air for another moment.
Without Miaoer beside him, his expression returned to its usual indifference.
He descended outside City S and took out the military truck from his space ring.
Although he could fly, driving would allow him to meditate and familiarize himself with his new cultivation while the vehicle moved under the control of a simple array.
After setting City K as his destination, Ye Xuan placed several spirit stones inside the array controlling the truck.
The engine roared.
The military truck moved away from the destroyed city just as the first group of survivors appeared on the distant highway.
Inside the Soul Ring, Chu Miao sat before a table covered with array materials, pills, and spirit stones.
Her suppression barrier trembled again.
A powerful aura escaped from her body before she forced it back.
Two days might have been an overestimate.
She looked at the materials in front of her and began refining the first array flag.
This time, she would not merely survive the Divine Transformation tribulation.
She would use it to temper her body, strengthen her spatial power, and bury another zombie stronghold with her advancement.
I feel like as the zombie king finally emerges, the story has accelerated somewhat. However, I hope you like this new pace. I want to end the apocalypse and move to the next part of the protagonist’s lives.
However, I will give action before the book folds.
