He didn’t consider himself an old-fashioned man.
But in all things concerning Paige Summers, he was exceptionally attentive.
Paige Summers knew this well.
That day, they were both so happy they could hardly put it into words.
No matter how hard they tried to contain it, smiles kept creeping onto their faces.
When they made their toast, Wendy Lowell was so choked with emotion she couldn’t speak.
To be honest, besides the good food, the living conditions here were far worse than in Central City. All sorts of things were lacking; from her perspective, the conditions were downright harsh. Yet Paige Summers and Marcus Monroe weren’t the least bit unhappy. On the contrary, they treated this place as their home, setting it up little by little.
This moved Wendy Lowell deeply.
She sometimes couldn’t help but wonder: if she had left Central City with Dylan Summers back then, without a moment’s hesitation, perhaps she would have been very happy, even if it meant traveling to the ends of the earth to build a life with him. She wouldn’t have had to live as she had before, spending twenty years tormented by her daughter’s disappearance, even while Owen Reid ensured her survival.
This, she supposed, was heaven’s punishment for her.
Thankfully, she had found her again.
The past was in the past. She could be by her daughter’s side like this, and soon, she would have a grandchild. ’From now on,’ she thought, ’I will have no more regrets.’
The night of the wedding was, of course, their wedding night.
Marcus Monroe was practically buzzing with excitement.
He pulled Paige Summers onto the bed the moment they got back to their new room.
"Hey, hey! Don’t get any funny ideas!" Paige Summers exclaimed, a bit frantic. He’d had a lot to drink, and she was worried he wouldn’t be gentle.
But to her surprise, once they were on the bed, Marcus Monroe’s hands were incredibly gentle as he undressed her.
As he undressed her, he scattered light kisses across her face and body, and before she knew it, his kisses had trailed below her navel.
Seeing her try to push him away, he looked up with a clear-eyed smile. "Don’t worry," he said. "I know what I’m doing!"
Paige Summers thought, ’What could you possibly know!?’
She wanted to object, but he went to work with his hands and mouth, making her go limp before she could even speak.
"D-d-don’t do that..."
A low murmur came from down below. "Don’t do what? This... or maybe this..."
Paige Summers was trembling, and soon, all she could do was moan.
When she woke up the next day, her body weak and spent, she gritted her teeth, realizing she had truly underestimated Marcus Monroe.
’Not only did he know what to do, he knew it in thorough, intimate detail!’
But as she thought about it, she couldn’t help but purse her lips to hide a smile.
When Marcus Monroe walked in with a bowl, he saw her sweet smile, and his own mood lifted even higher.
"Hungry? Here, have something to eat."
Hearing his voice, Paige Summers immediately put on a stern expression. "Where did you run off to so early?"
Marcus Monroe sat down on the edge of the bed, amused, a suggestive look on his face. "I went to wash some things that other people shouldn’t wash, of course."
Paige Summers thought of the bedsheets from last night, and her face instantly flushed.
’It’s a good thing he washed them. Otherwise, I’d be too embarrassed to face anyone!’
She cleared her throat and shrewdly changed the subject. "Food, food! I’m starving!"
Marcus Monroe’s eyes were brimming with laughter. "Alright."
Though Marcus Monroe wished he could spend every moment with her, there were duties that couldn’t be neglected.
Wendy Lowell soon came over to accompany Paige Summers to the factory district, and only then did Marcus Monroe head to the training grounds.
Now that the base was established, the next step was to train its forces.
He was determined to forge an Ironblood Legion for Bloodfall Base to protect their home!
A few days of this quiet life passed. One day, while Paige Summers was instructing her disciples, a team member suddenly ran up to report. "There’s a young woman outside who says she wants to see Captain Monroe! Do you want to go take a look?"
"Who is she?"
"She just said she’s a friend of Captain Monroe..."
’A friend?’
Paige Summers raised an eyebrow. "Let’s go take a look."
