The residents of MadCity were still shocked.
Even for a city of outcasts, the mysterious person who tactically dismantled Madmax and his terrifying powerhouses was really cold-blooded.
He actually killed Madmax’s daughter just so he could use her as bait to kill her father.
Many were wondering who this mysterious powerhouse was.
This was when news started spreading in the city about him.
According to some new residents who knew about him, and the enforcers who were in the vehicle that brought him to the city, he was known as The Lodgekeeper.
He was a legendary rank 2 powerhouse who shook Rustwater town, one of the towns under the jurisdiction of MadCity, before he came here.
Alongside several crazy feats in Rustwater town, he slaughtered a thousand expert rank 2 chaotic beasts and one legendary rank 2 chaotic beast without lifting a finger.
Some even said he could slaughter people with just a thought. This was because no one had ever seen him use his affinity or launch an attack.
By the time they’d realize he had attacked, they would be dead.
In the desert, in the heavy metal transport vehicle that was bringing him to the city, he killed 50 raiders in a similar manner.
The most shocking thing about him was that he had just arrived in MadCity the previous night.
And by morning, he had already used scheming and tactical acumen to eliminate the ruling power of MadCity.
This was something no one in the city could pull off. But this man had pulled it off in just a moment.
Currently, The Lodgekeeper was the topic of conversation in the city.
It was obvious that he would be the new city lord.
MadCity had entered a new era.
But, could he rule the city peacefully?
Now that the former city lord was dead, the city lords of the neighboring cities would naturally be filled with greed.
Each of them would want to claim MadCity for themselves. Naturally, The Lodgekeeper would become a target they would want to eliminate.
What kept them at bay from claiming MadCity for themselves were the rumors that the previous city lord was a beginner rank 3 warrior.
But, The Lodgekeeper was a legendary rank 2 warrior. Even if he could scheme and outmaneuver people, could he do the same against 6 city lords of the neighboring cities who were also veteran legendary rank 2 warriors in a direct confrontation?
Only time would tell.
*****
MadCity.
Western District.
City Lord’s residence.
In a luxurious hall.
Dickinson stared at his parents.
They stared back at him.
"Mum, dad." The moment Dickinson spoke, his parents trembled.
They were not dreaming, right?
"Honey, what is going on? We were suddenly released from prison... we don’t..." His mother spoke.
"Son, what is happening?" His father added.
Dickinson walked forward and hugged them.
"Mum, dad, you are free. This senior is the new city lord. Not only did he kill the Eastern District Lord, who framed you for the city lord’s wife’s death several years ago, he eliminated the city lord and every other district lord of the city!" Dickinson looked at The Lodgekeeper, Senior Turner, with an expression of fear, reverence, and gratitude. "He is the reason why you are safe now."
Dickinson’s parents looked at the ordinary-looking, black-haired, blue-eyed senior resting on the couch and scrolling through his phone.
Glints of gratitude and fear flashed through their eyes.
For all these years, they had been in prison, separated from their son. Everything they had worked for had been stripped away from them.
Not only had this senior helped them to reunite with their son, he had also avenged them.
But of course, they knew a powerhouse like that would not just waste his time and save them for free. There was no such thing as a free lunch in this world. From the senior’s demeanor, he most likely wasn’t close to their son. So, he had most likely struck a deal with their son.
But of course, they had to show reverence to the terrifying senior.
The emaciated couple walked reverently towards the senior relaxing on the couch.
The couple were about to bow.
But the senior spoke politely.
"Please, there is no need for theatrics. Kindly find something to eat and recover. I had a deal with your son. If you want to thank someone, thank him. For the next two months, I’ll remain the city lord of this city. But you will manage the administrative stuff. Find new district lords and let them run the districts too. When I leave, you and your son will have the city to yourselves and can do whatever you will with it. Just help me forge an identity when you are done eating and recovering."
The couple nodded respectfully.
"Yes, Senior. Thank you, Senior. Yes, Senior..."
"Senior is very benevolent."
Aiden nodded with polite indifference.
"Senior, I don’t even have to rest. I can help you forge the identity now," Dickinson’s father said. "As long as there is a laptop, I can access my database and get it done."
"Very well... Dickinson, get a laptop from Leticia now," Aiden said to Dickinson.
"Yes, Senior Turner." Dickinson turned around and walked out of the room.
"I can’t believe this is really happening," Dickinson thought as he left the hall.
"It was a good thing I didn’t antagonize the senior when I met him."
Dickinson’s parents sat on an opposite couch in the hall.
Everything was so surreal to them.
When the senior left the city, would the city belong to them?
Their years of suffering were over!
Dickinson returned to the room with a laptop.
His father took the laptop from him and started typing.
Very soon, he logged into his database.
"Can I have the senior’s name?" he asked.
"Alex Turner, please," Aiden replied.
"Alright," Dickinson’s father said. "Can I take a picture of you, sir?" he asked.
"Certainly," Aiden replied.
Dickinson took a picture of Senior Turner and sent it to his father through Bluetooth.
A few minutes later, he spoke.
"It’s done. Connect the printer, son."
Dickinson nodded and connected a printer in the room to the laptop.
A few minutes later, an ID card came out of the printer.
It contained Aiden’s picture with his current appearance and an official seal of the International Transport Agency, the international group responsible for overseeing travel systems by sea and air on Endra.
"With this, sir can travel anywhere without anyone suspecting anything," Dickinson’s father said.
Aiden took the ID card, inspected it, and put it in his storage bracelet.
"Thank you." He nodded politely to Dickinson’s father.
"Pleasure is mine, Senior Turner. We should be the ones thanking you."
Aiden nodded politely.
The family of three took his response as a cue to leave the hall. They were led by a maid to their apartment in the villa.
Aiden stood up from the couch.
"I need a shower."
