The ground began to shake.

At first it was only a low tremor running through the chamber floor, subtle enough that many of the fighting creatures ignored it. Then the tremor deepened. Dust sifted down from the upper darkness. Small rocks broke free from the walls and clattered across the stone. The pale vines of the living gate hesitated for a fraction of a second, as if the tree itself had sensed the change.

Every predator in the chamber felt it next.

The six-legged hunters stopped mid-attack, four-eyed heads snapping toward the entrance corridor. The magma-plated beast lifted its massive skull, crimson veins flaring brighter. Even the Phase Stalker distortions pulled back and held position. A heavy, crushing presence was approaching from outside — something that made the residual energy of the tomb itself feel small.

Elara and Ryzek were still fighting along the upper wall when the pressure hit them fully. Both of them turned toward the corridor at the same time.

A figure came flying through the entrance in an uncontrolled trajectory.

Lian crashed hard into the chamber floor, rolling once before slamming against a broken slab of stone. Blood marked the ground beneath him. His breathing was ragged. Silver scrapes and deep bruises covered his arms and side.

Elara dropped from the wall immediately. Ryzek followed a heartbeat later. They reached Lian as he forced himself up onto one knee.

“What happened?” Elara demanded.

Lian spat blood and looked toward the entrance, eyes sharp despite the injuries.

“Argent Colossi,” he said quickly. “A full pack. Eleven of them. Star 2 through Star 5. They were hunting me. I led them here, but something bigger is right behind them. Hide. Now.”

A roar rolled down the corridor.

It was deep, resonant, and powerful enough to make the stone under their feet vibrate. Dust fell in thicker streams. Several of the smaller hunters on the chamber floor turned and tried to flee toward the walls or back the way they had come. The living gate’s vines began dropping faster, as if the tree had also recognized the approaching threat and decided to clear its floor.

Panic spread through every creature present.

Predators that had been locked in combat moments earlier broke away and scrambled for any possible exit. The problem was simple and absolute: the only way out was the same narrow fissure they had all used to enter. One way in. One way out. The corridor was already filling with the sound of heavy, coordinated movement from the Colossi pack, and behind that pack something even heavier was coming.

Vines continued to lash down in dense curtains, seizing anything that moved too close to the trunk or lingered in the open. Bodies were lifted, crushed, or thrown. The magma beast roared and smashed through a cluster of golden vines, trying to force a path toward the entrance, only to find the corridor already clogged with fleeing hunters and the advancing silver-armored pack.

Elara hauled Lian fully to his feet. Ryzek’s four amber eyes swept the chamber once, calculating.

Another roar shook the tomb, closer this time.

The first of the Argent Colossi — a lean Star 3 with bloodshot silver eyes — charged through the entrance and straight into the chaos. Behind it came more, silver bone plates gleaming, the pack spreading out as they entered. And still the greater presence pressed forward from the darkness beyond.

There was no clear path of retreat.

Only the single corridor, now filling from both directions, and a chamber full of panicked predators and a living gate that refused to stop killing.
