Chapter 52: Chapter - 52: Turning Point

Two months have passed since the day of the test and the atmosphere around the academy has completely changed.

The academy has definitely phased criticism because of what happened on the day of the test, especially considering the fact that the students in danger were from noble households and even the second prince of the kingdom was also there.

But the reason behind the change in the academy’s atmosphere was completely different. The change isn’t just because of the stricter supervision but the main reason is the election campaign for the upcoming student council elections.

Every year, the student council president is elected by the student body and has a term period that lasts for one year. Between this time, the president has the right to appointment and removal of any member of the council.

The current student council president is Jasmine Curzon, one of the capture targets of the game Jin Curzon’s elder sister and the eldest daughter of the Duke of Casus, a territory in the northwestern part of the kingdom.

Kai’s POV:-

"What happened Kai? You seem lost in thought." Elena asked me as I sat absentmindedly on my chair.

Currently we are in a certain cafe not far from the academy. We once ate a cake here which Elena quite liked, so this has become our occasional hang out place.

And by ’We’ I mean, me, Elena, Hina and Lucian.

Quite a weird combination, but the reason is obvious, to escape the eyes of the campaign members who want our support.

After the talks of the ’incident’ during the test and the details of out fight went out by some unknown source....or probably by Luna and her two friends. The three of us; Elena, Hina and I have suddenly become popular in the first year.

And Lucian being the second prince and the first year representative, already have enough fame to influence the decision of the voters.

And the other members of our group are busy in their own things, so four of us somehow ended up here together.

"It is nothing, I was just thinking about what I should give you on your birthday."

I replied naturally, but of course it was a lie. Her birthday gift is a matter of concern but the bigger concern I have right now is the ’incident’ that happens on her birthday in the game.

"It’s fine, I will make a request to the teacher for both of us." I replied, firm with my decision of avoiding the event.

"Wow, I didn’t expect you to be so bold. Honestly you are an inspiration." Lucian who has been just watching the exchange from the side until now said.

"What are you saying?" I asked, doubtful of what he might have understood from my words.

"Ah? Are you not just planning a date for lady Elena’s birthday?" He replied casually, his tone sometimes makes me forget that he is a prince.

It wasn’t my plan, but I can’t deny it in front of Elena and don’t think calling it a date is a bad idea.

"Our first date...." Elena muttered with a pleased smile as she took a bite of her cake.

But their plan of celebration gets spoiled because, Lucian got stuck in a room with Hina and the other two capture targets during the ’incident’. The event where the heroine has to finally choose her route and no matter what route she takes, the main capture target prince Lucian would still fall in love with her.

The incident involved all three capture targets receiving severe injuries when fighting the strong enemies that attacked the academy. And they were not the only ones to be critically injured, several students suffered in the attack.

But no one died except for one person, Elena’s maid Maya, who was the only one with Elena at the time of attack, her closest friend.

Not having her supposed fiance at her side, on the day of her birthday. When she needed him, he was busy protecting Hina.

Elena, who was unable to protect herself and her closest friend from the enemies, losing the one person she regarded as a friend, all because she wasn’t strong enough, started to develop hatred.

And the fact that the group who attacked were the enemies of the royal family just added more to her hatred towards them and encouraged her to get stronger, even if she has to take the wrong path.

This finally resulted in her becoming hungry for strength as she accepted the offer of that hidden evil magic user in the academy and started practicing evil magic.
