Seika turned one month old, and it was finally time to move out of the cabin.

The small wooden house was a good home. It kept them safe from the freezing winter winds. It gave Rue a quiet, warm place to heal after giving birth. But the walls felt like they were shrinking fast. Four massive warlords took up a lot of space. Add a silver snake toddler, a feral leopard cub, and a newborn panther to the mix. The cabin was bursting at its seams.

Every single morning, Axel bumped his broad shoulder against the kitchen doorframe. Knox constantly tripped over small wooden blocks left on the woven rugs.

Today was moving day.

The living room looked like a messy war zone of packed crates and bundled furs.

"Lift with your knees, blackie," Axel teased. The white wolf leaned against the stone wall, chewing on a crisp green apple.

Knox glared at him. The Southern King stood right in the middle of the room. He held the massive oak dining table right above his head. His thick biceps flexed hard under the heavy weight.

"I am lifting with my knees," Knox grunted. He took a heavy step forward, his boots thudding against the floorboards. "Why don’t you make yourself useful? Pick up a box instead of eating all our food."

"I am supervising," Axel grinned. He took a loud, crunching bite of his apple. "Someone has to make sure you don’t break Rue’s favorite chairs. You are very clumsy today."

"I’ll break your nose in a second," Knox threatened.

A wide, proud smile ruined his scary act. He didn’t mean it. He turned sideways to squeeze the giant wooden table through the front door. He hummed a happy tune as he worked, ignoring the wolf’s laughter behind him.

Across the room, Caius ignored their loud bickering.

The Serpent Alpha handled the delicate items. He stood by the kitchen counter. He carefully wrapped Rue’s clay teacups and her small glass jars in soft white cloths. He placed them gently into a woven basket. He worked with smooth, quiet precision, making sure nothing would shatter on the journey.

He wasn’t working alone today.

Theron stood right beside his leg. The toddler stayed in his human form for the big move. He wore a tiny dark tunic matching his father’s clothes. He wanted to help so much. His golden snake eyes watched Caius wrap a cup with intense focus.

Theron reached his chubby hands out. He grabbed a single wooden spoon from the counter.

He turned and marched toward the woven basket. His short legs wobbled. He concentrated hard, his little brow furrowed. He dropped the wooden spoon into the basket with a soft clatter.

Theron looked up at Caius, his chest puffed out with pride.

"Good job, my prince," Caius praised softly. He patted his son’s messy silver hair. "That is very helpful. We need all those spoons for dinner."

Theron beamed. He hurried back to the counter to find another one. The little boy was small, but his determination filled the room.

Rue sat on the edge of the circular bed, watching them. A warm flutter bloomed deep in her chest. The cold, calculating snake warlord was such a patient father. He treated his son’s small effort like it was a major victory.

Mochi ran past the bed. The leopard girl chased her own fuzzy gray tail. She thought packing was a fun new game. She dove into a pile of loose blankets, giggling loudly as the fabric swallowed her up.

"We are ready," Drax announced.

The Dragon King walked into the bedroom. He wore a dark leather pack strapped across his broad back. He carried two massive wooden trunks effortlessly, one in each hand. The heavy veins in his forearms stood out, showing his raw strength.

He looked at Rue. His dark eyes softened right away.

"Do you have everything you need?" Drax asked, his deep voice dropping to a gentle rumble.

Rue nodded. She stood up from the mattress. She wore a warm wool dress to fight the morning chill. She held Seika tight to her chest. The baby panther was wrapped securely in a thick white blanket. Seika slept soundly, oblivious to the loud chaos happening around her. Her tiny dark curls poked out from the top of the fabric.

"I have my baby," Rue smiled, adjusting her grip. "I am good to go."

Drax stepped closer. He reached out and adjusted the blanket around Seika’s face to block the wind. He kissed Rue’s forehead softly.

"Let’s go home," Drax said.

Rue looked around the bedroom one last time. She felt a small tug of sadness. She birthed Seika in this room. She spent hours laughing with Axel on that rug. She watched Knox panic over a crying baby by that window. The cabin held beautiful memories.

She took a deep breath, turned around, and walked out the door.

The morning air felt crisp and clean. The sun shined bright through the green pine branches, warming her cheeks.

They left the old wooden cabin behind. The walk was short. The new stone fortress sat just a few miles away, built very close to the Ironwood Manor.

Knox walked in the front. He carried the heavy oak table on his back like it weighed nothing. Axel walked beside him, carrying three large crates balanced on his broad shoulder. They kept trading silly insults the whole way. Caius walked behind them, holding his neat basket. Theron rode high on Caius’s shoulders, holding onto his father’s dark hair like a steering wheel. Mochi skipped along the dirt path, chasing yellow butterflies and pouncing on crunchy fallen leaves.

Rue walked in the middle of the pack. Drax stayed right by her side. He matched her slower pace perfectly, keeping a watchful eye on the uneven ground.

"Are your legs tired?" Drax asked.

"No," Rue shook her head. "It feels good to walk. The fresh air is nice."

She looked down at the bundle in her arms. Seika opened her golden eyes for a brief moment. The baby blinked at the bright sunlight filtering through the trees. She let out a tiny, soft coo and fell right back to sleep against Rue’s warm chest. Rue rubbed the baby’s soft cheek with her thumb.

They walked over a small wooden bridge crossing a shallow stream. The water bubbled over smooth rocks. The sound was peaceful. The forest smelled like damp earth and sweet pine.

Drax stayed close. He guided her around a large tree root blocking the path. He placed a warm hand on her lower back to steady her.

The dirt path widened. The tall trees parted.

The new house came into view.

It wasn’t just a house. It was a masterpiece.

Tall gray stone walls stood strong against the mountain backdrop. Wide glass windows reflected the bright morning sun, promising to fill the rooms with natural light. Thick wooden beams supported a sweeping roof. It looked like a wild, beautiful castle fit for a queen.

A wide stone courtyard sat in the front, surrounded by a sturdy wooden fence. There was plenty of room for the children to run and play safely without wandering into the deep woods.

Rue stopped walking. Her breath caught in her throat. Her heart hammered against her ribs.

She remembered the rough sketches Drax drew on the table weeks ago. She remembered the loud arguments over window sizes and wall thickness. Seeing it standing right here in real life was overwhelming. They built this with their own hands. They hauled the heavy stones from the quarry. They carved the wood. They built it just for her.

Knox set the heavy table down on the grass. He wiped sweat from his brow and grinned at her. Axel dropped his crates and crossed his arms, looking very proud of their hard work. Caius lowered Theron to the ground, letting the toddler run toward the wooden fence with Mochi.

Drax walked up to the heavy front doors. He pushed them open. Warm light spilled out onto the stone steps.

Rue steps through the massive wooden doors and gasps. The place is beautiful.

"Wow, you guys really did this?"
