Xu Qinghan’s gaze pierced through the chaotic battlefield, fixed firmly on that twisted anchor point. The figure of Senior Brother Xu Ran flickered within it; the once steady and warm aura was now replaced by the cold power of the void.
She knew that Yu Kong’s Fire was just a wedge, incapable of completely destroying the anchor point or directly saving Senior Brother Xu Ran. Yet, its interference inside had bought her a precious chance. She had to seize this opportunity to find a way to save her brother completely!
"Fire Ignition..." she whispered the name of the Secret Technique. This technique was one of the most profound and dangerous Techniques in the Guardian inheritance. It could use the Guardian’s Fire as a lead to reignite the faint flame of self inside a spirit body eroded by void. But casting this technique required a terrible price, possibly even one’s life, and the success rate was almost negligible.
But now, she had no choice!
She felt the Guardian Power flowing within her, intertwined with Yu Kong’s Fire, giving her a deeper understanding of the "Fire Ignition" Secret Technique. She knew that to truly perform this technique, she needed more than just power; she needed ultimate mastery over the Cosmic Origin, a profound insight into the concept of life, and... more Guardian Fire!
"More Guardian Fire..." she suddenly lifted her head, looking toward the vast and unknown starry sky.
The cosmos is so vast, besides Yu Kong and herself, are there other Guardians out there? Or are there other ignited Fires scattered in some corner of the cosmos? If she could find them, gather them, maybe she could truly pull Senior Brother Xu Ran back from the abyss of nothingness!
This thought blazed in her heart like a wildfire.
But the current situation allowed her no time to ponder.
A shadow, like lightning, tore through space, rushing straight toward Xu Qinghan! It was another pioneer of the Master of Nothingness, sensing the presence of Fire, directly locking onto this new Guardian, Xu Qinghan!
"Die!" A cold and destructive voice exploded directly in Xu Qinghan’s Divine Soul!
Xu Qinghan had no time to react, instinctively channeling the newly surged Guardian Power within her to condense a golden light screen before her.
"Boom!"
The light screen shattered instantly, and Xu Qinghan was blown away by the terrifying power, her body flying backward like a kite with a broken string, crashing hard against a distant mountain wall, raising a cloud of dust.
"Qinghan!" In the distance, an elder clad in ancient war armor roared in grief and rage, wanting to rush over but being entangled by several Void Hunters.
Xu Qinghan spat a mouthful of blood, her body in intense pain, but her gaze was more determined. She knew this war had just begun, and she must survive! She must carry Yu Kong’s Fire, the inheritance of the Guardians, find more power, and find more companions to ignite the true flame of hope in this sweeping cosmic darkness!
She struggled to rise from the rubble, her eyes no longer only filled with sadness but with a resilience and resoluteness that came from trials and tribulations. She looked toward the chaotic battlefield, toward those powerful beings fighting blood and blood for her, toward that twisted anchor point, and the faint figure of her brother within it.
"Brother, wait for me..." she whispered determinedly, her voice light but brimming with undoubted resolve.
She knew the road ahead would be incredibly long and arduous. She had to face the erosion of the Master of Nothingness, countless powerful enemies, the unknown cosmic abyss. But she wouldn’t give up. Because she was a Guardian, because Yu Kong’s Fire burned in her heart, because she bore the mission to save her brother, to save the cosmos!
In the ancient restricted area, the winds rise and clouds surge. Darkness thoroughly envelopes, yet Fire still burns. A new era quietly begins in the intertwining of sacrifice and hope. The future of the cosmos hangs by a thread. And that slender thread rests in the hands of a few beings who have inherited an ancient will.
Xu Qinghan is one of them.
She took a deep breath, feeling the beat of Fire in her chest; it was not only Yu Kong’s will but the belief passed down through countless generations of Guardian Fire. She knew she couldn’t rely solely on the power of Fire; she needed to grow, to become stronger.
"Guardian inheritance..." she closed her eyes, ancient information imparted by Yu Kong before his demise surfacing in her mind. It was about the origin of the Guardian lineage, the mysteries of the Cosmic Origin, the methods to combat the Master of Nothingness, and a deeper interpretation of the "Fire Ignition" Secret Technique.
She suddenly opened her eyes, a hint of enlightenment flashing through them. The power of Guardians is not static; it grows as a Guardian matures, capable of absorbing the scattered Origin Power in the cosmos, transforming it into part of Fire. And the "Fire Ignition" Secret Technique is not merely about sacrificing oneself to ignite the flame of another’s "self." It’s more like a spark, a catalyst requiring resonance between a faint flame of self within the ignitee and Fire to be truly effective.
This meant that the flame of "self" within Senior Brother Xu Ran, disrupted by Yu Kong’s Fire, although faint, was not entirely extinguished!
This gave her greater hope and a clearer sense of direction. She needed to find more Cosmic Origin Power to strengthen her Fire, to increase the success rate of the "Fire Ignition" Secret Technique.
"Kill!"
Another roar brought her out of her reverie.
The battle on the edge of the Restricted Area grew more intense. Although the cosmic warriors were fighting desperately, they were suffering casualties under the siege of void pioneers and countless Fallen. Blood dyed the ground red, dismembered limbs scattered everywhere, and the entire restricted area was shrouded in the heavy scent of blood and death.
Xu Qinghan knew she could no longer sit and wait. Though she was a new Guardian, she was not a bystander. The time Yu Kong’s sacrifice bought her was not to ponder here but to act!
Again, she activated the newly recovered Guardian Power within her. It was still weak, but it allowed her to traverse the chaotic Laws, to remain lucid under the erosion of void. She cast her gaze onto the battlefield, at those figures fighting for protection and hope.
She saw the elder clad in ancient war armor, his war axe whirling like the wind, each strike carrying Earth-shattering might, shattering several Void Hunters into fragments. But he was already covered in wounds, his armor dyed red by blood.
She saw those once proud cosmic elites who, at this moment, abandoned their ranks and barriers, fighting back-to-back with the Fallen; their eyes held no fear, only a determination to meet their deaths.
She also saw those once corrupted by the Master of Nothingness but temporarily awakened by Yu Kong through some Secret Skill, the "Half-Fallen." They too joined the battle, fighting their thoroughly Fallen kind with their broken bodies, their eyes filled with pain and struggle, but more with a longing for self-redemption.
Is this what Yu Kong called "the seed of hope?"
A surge of indescribable emotion and tragedy rose in Xu Qinghan’s heart. Yu Kong not only sacrificed himself, but he also left these awakened "Half-Fallen" in the restricted area; they were another inheritance left by him, a faint hope ignited in desperation.
She hesitated no longer and charged toward the battlefield. She wanted to join the fight, to stand alongside these beings fighting for hope! She wanted to respond to Yu Kong’s sacrifice through her actions and to protect this hard-won hope!
Her figure moved through the chaotic battlefield. Though her power was not yet enough to contend with those powerful pioneers, she felt that each punch she threw, each kick she delivered, carried the purifying power unique to Fire. Those Fallen she touched would have the void power within them slightly disturbed, slowing their speed and dulling their attacks.
