The excursion was set in the Verdant Reach, a sprawling forest just beyond the Academy’s northern gates. While technically "safe," the terrain was thick with mana-reactive flora and minor spirit-beasts—the perfect laboratory to compare the "Old Order" against the "New Substance."

The faculty, under the watchful, judging eyes of the visiting noblewomen, organized the groups into two distinct archetypes to observe the "benefits" of the noblewomen’s suggested curriculum.

Group A: The Traditionalists

These groups consisted of three male Vanguards and one "Untouched" female Support mage.

The Dynamic: The boys led with aggressive, flashy Solar spells, while the girl stood back, frantically channeling her meager mana to maintain their shields.

The Result: They were effective but "noisy." The girl was visibly drained within the first hour, her face pale as she struggled to keep up with the boys' reckless expenditure of energy. The noblewomen watched with bored, pitying expressions.

Group B: The Sovereigns (All-Female Groups)

These groups were comprised of the "Touched"—a mix of Elites and Support girls who had seen the Transfiguration.

The Dynamic: There was no shouting, no ego. They moved in a silent, fluid formation that seemed almost hive-like. When a spirit-beast lunged, they didn't cast shields; they shifted their weight in unison, their bodies humming with the Sovereign’s Presence.

The Result: Total, effortless dominance. The Support girls, who the men expected to be the "weak links," were instead the anchors. They moved with a terrifying physical density, parrying beast claws with bare forearms that glowed with a faint, mercury-silver light.

Back in Room 4-B, Astraea was far from resting. She sat in the center of a ritual circle, her eyes rolled back, her consciousness fractured into dozens of tiny threads. Through the Sovereign Tether, she wasn't just observing; she was acting as the battery.

Every time a "Touched" girl struck a blow or sprinted through the underbrush, Astraea sent a precisely timed Rhythmic Pulse.

The Boost: At the moment of impact, the girls felt the "Heat" slam into their core—a deep, heavy thrust of divine energy that translated into explosive power.

The Stabilization: When the girls began to breathe heavily, Astraea used the link to "recirculate" their fatigue, pulling the strain into herself and replacing it with the Sovereign’s inexhaustible vitality.

The girls out in the field were essentially "remotes" for Astraea’s divine will. They didn't feel like they were fighting; they felt like they were dancing to a beat only they could hear.

Headmaster Thorne and Pontiff Pompus stood on a ridge, peering through scrying glass, growing increasingly bewildered.

"I don't understand it," Thorne muttered, watching Miri—a girl with a historically pathetic mana pool—uproot a corrupted sapling with her bare hands. "Her mana signature hasn't changed, but her physical output is... it's like she’s possessed by a siege engine."

Beside him, Countess Valencia smiled thinly, her hand resting on her stomach where her own "Visitation" was pulsing in sympathy with the girls below. "Perhaps, Headmaster, you have simply spent too long looking at the sky and forgotten the power of the earth. These girls aren't 'weak.' They were just... waiting for the right inspiration."

By midday, the results were undeniable.

The Traditional groups were returning to the rally point exhausted, their "Support" girls needing the infirmary.

The All-Female groups returned with pristine uniforms, their skin glowing with a healthy, vibrant luster, carrying trophies of spirit-beast cores that doubled the men’s haul.

The noblewomen turned to the faculty with triumphant, predatory eyes. "The evidence is clear," Duchess Genevieve stated, her voice resonating with a secret authority. "The 'Support' tier has a hidden potential that the current Academy system has suppressed. We expect to see their training regimen tripled. Clearly, they are the future of Aethelgard’s defense."

The men bowed, defeated by the data. They began drafting new schedules, unaware that they had just authorized the creation of a standing army for a Goddess who was currently sipping tea in her dorm room, feeling the satisfied hum of a hundred successful "connections."

---

The atmosphere in the corridors leading to 4-B was thick, not with the ozone of battle, but with the crushing weight of a paradigm shift. The "Untouched" elites—the final holdouts who had clung to the old hierarchy—moved like ghosts. Their hair was disheveled from the excursion, their starched uniforms stained with the sweat of a "Solar Law" that had failed to protect them from exhaustion.

When they reached the door of the "low-tier" dorm, they didn't kick it open with their usual arrogance. They leaned against the frame, their knees trembling.

Inside, 4-B was a sanctuary of impossible vitality. While the rest of the Academy was nursing bruises and mana depletion, the girls here were radiant. Astraea sat in her usual spot, a cup of herbal tea in her hand, surrounded by her "Apostles." The air in the room was so warm and "full" that the Elites felt like they had stepped into a different climate.

Genevra, the girl who had shrieked in the mess hall only days prior, was the first to speak. She looked at Miri—the girl she had called a "failure"—who was currently lifting a heavy trunk with one hand while reading a book.

"How?" Genevra whispered, her voice cracking. "We followed the manuals. We channeled the Light perfectly. Our Vanguards were the best in the year... but we’re breaking. And you... you look like you’ve just woken up from a dream."

She slumped to the floor, her pride finally shattered. "How did you do it? What is the secret?"

Astraea set her tea down with a soft clink. She didn't look at them with spite; she looked at them with the weary compassion of a mother watching a child realize the stove is hot.

"The secret isn't a technique, Genevra," Astraea said, her voice a low, resonant hum that seemed to vibrate in the Elites' very bones. "The secret is that you are trying to fill a sieve with water. You serve a God who demands you stay empty so his light can pass through you. You are exhausted because you are hollow."

Miri stepped forward, kneeling beside the fallen Elites. She didn't mock them. She reached out and touched Genevra’s shoulder. At the point of contact, Astraea sent a Micro-Pulse through the tether.

Genevra gasped, her eyes snapping wide. For a second, the cold, jagged ache of her mana exhaustion was replaced by a heavy, rhythmic heat—a "Substance" that felt like liquid gold pouring into her marrow.

"You spent the excursion watching your backs and fearing the forest," Astraea continued, standing up. As she moved, the shadows in the room seemed to lengthen and dance. "My girls didn't fight the forest. They didn't use their own strength; they used Mine."

The Elites looked around the room. They saw the Support girls, the Priestesses in habits, and even their own former Elite peers, all looking at them with that same silver-flecked gaze. The "Rift" was closing, but only because one side was being swallowed by the other.

"The Sun-God offers you a rank," Astraea whispered, leaning over the huddled girls. "I offer you a Weight. I offer you a fire that never goes out because it feeds on the truth of what you are, not what you're told to be."

"Do you want to be 'Elite' and empty?" Astraea asked, her golden eyes flashing with a predatory warmth. "Or do you want to be 'Support' and Infinite?"

One by one, the last of the Untouched bowed their heads. There was no more fight left in them. The "Slow-Burn" had finally reached the final bastions of the Academy.

"Teach us," Genevra sobbed, her forehead touching the rug of the room she used to despise. "Fill the hole. We can't be cold anymore."

Astraea smiled—a beautiful, terrifying expression. Through the Sovereign Link, she felt the entire campus hum in unison. The "Aethelgard Node" was now 100% synchronized.

"Isolde," Astraea commanded softly. "Close the door. And call the Priestesses. It’s time for the final 'Cleansing.' We have a lot of hollow vessels to fill before the Sun-God notices his temple is gone."
