Chapter 1292 - 1260: Shooting and Appearance

Lann didn’t look back as he once again tugged Adeline, helping her narrowly avoid the spray of blue-gray corrosive liquid from the cabinet.

The black-robed clergy member, who had been hurled down from the second floor, could barely manage a couple of choking moans, his throat blocked by frothy blood.

But after being pierced through, there was no more movement.

After crashing by Lann’s side near the cabinet, there were only a couple of neurotic twitches left in the corrosive liquid.

Adeline instinctively wanted to help the clergy amid the shards of glass and liquid, but Lann did not let go.

The corrosiveness of the liquid seemed quite severe.

Beneath the Healing Church uniform, the clergy’s skin was rapidly carbonizing, turning black.

"Is that a Gray Blood Patient? Are these delusion symptoms?"

There was a sense of absurdity in Lann’s words.

If it was truly as Adeline described earlier, that Gray Blood Patients only showed ’some’ agitation and delusional symptoms, attacking doctors...

This really doesn’t match the current situation at all!

Is this ’agitation and delusion’?

The kind that pierces people like skewered chicken and flings them around kind of ’agitation’?

"I—I don’t know!"

Adeline replied in bewildered helplessness.

And the Gray Blood Patient was still shouting and roaring, violently flailing his limbs and the IV pole in his hand.

He had some small wounds from earlier when he jumped down from the upper floors.

Now, with his whole body tensed and exerting force, a flick of the hand or a turn would spray out that distinctive gray-white blood from his wounds.

Lann only felt the concealed, complex beastly odor of Yan’an growing stronger in the air.

Behind Lann, Adeline looked around helplessly, seeing the once busy clergy scattering, while the Sumeru descendants at the upper staircase entrances remained indifferent.

Brought out from ancient dungeons by the Healing Church, they were indeed too rigid; ordered to guard the staircase, they did nothing as long as one didn’t approach them.

"And the Hunter!" Adeline suddenly broke free from Lann’s loosened grip, lifted her clothes corners, and ran in a specific direction, shouting, "Yes! I’m going to find the Hunter!"

Lann let go of Adeline’s hand because the Gray Blood Patient was rushing towards them!

He frantically and chaotically swung the IV pole he wielded as a weapon, the sharp broken end easily prying up blocks of ground stone under his furious strength without being hindered.

Such strength... it’s nothing short of high beastification.

But merely high-level beastly mutation daring to charge headlong at him, Lann only tilted his head at this.

With a whoosh, the Demon Hunter lifted one corner of his cloak.

Shortly after, the swinging broken IV pole jabbed directly into the air where Lann previously stood.

Accompanied by the sharp air-tearing sound from the pole, the Demon Hunter nimbly side-rotated.

The body previously facing the Gray Blood Patient turned aside, evading the strike surface.

"Boom!"

The following dull explosive sound!

Under the edge of Lann’s lifted cloak, the Dragon Scale boots already lifted, swinging the dragon-hide skirt armor.

The swift and clean kick, so crisp in force that after the movement completed, the armor pieces on Lann collided with light, dense sounds.

The Gray Blood Patient’s body almost folded into a sharp angle from the kick, "Ugh!" and flew backward.

"Thud," the Gray Blood Patient’s body crashed against the wall of the research hall.

Several thick wall bricks were suddenly knocked skewed, protruding or sinking, making the originally smooth wall uneven.

The burlap sack covering the Gray Blood Patient’s head visibly twitched and twisted from the impact.

Before he could slide off the wall.

"Whoosh~"

The cloak swept up a gust of wind in swift movement.

Lann’s large hand moved directly to press against the Gray Blood Patient’s head.

Following his usual habit, pressing someone’s head against the wall or ground forcefully tends to calm their heads a bit quicker.

But this time, as Lann’s hand equipped with the gloves with Smaug-like Dragon Scales touched the burlap sack-covered head.

His amber cat eyes slightly narrowed immediately.

In a split second of contact, his hand shifted and instead pressed against the patient’s chest, suppressing him.

In his swift action, with the chaotic scene, even those watching closely might only catch a blur of swift arm movement.

They would likely miss the brief hand-burlap sack contact, only noticing the final stationary hand pressed against the chest.

The opponent’s arm was as thin as a twig, yet it could easily smash large stone bricks, still flailing wildly, showing no sign of calming down under control.

However, Lann’s other hand met the crazed movements with calculated precision in mid-air.

Through his own skills and analysis, Lann could foresee the mad actions of this Gray Blood Patient’s next move before the patient himself did.

The sound of dry, rigid flesh colliding with armor plates, the heavy and relentless crash almost made teeth ache.

Unfalteringly, Lann used one hand to block the frenzied attacks from both of the opponent’s arms, finally taking advantage of his larger palm to directly grasp the opponent’s two frail twig-like arms.

This was what finally subdued the opponent’s ability to move.

"Is there a doctor here?" the Demon Hunter shouted around while staring at the coarse cloth sack on the opponent’s shoulder, "Is there a doctor who can take charge?"

After a few shouts, only then did the clergy from the surrounding rooms on the first floor of the research hall cautiously approach.

And the Gray Blood Patient, still under Lann’s restraint, howled and tried to slam the thing beneath the coarse sack onto him.

"Bang!"

A gunshot rang out, and the coarse cloth sack on the Gray Blood Patient’s shoulder exploded with a large hole.

The Demon Hunter swiftly raised his hand and leaned back, allowing the rich and sticky liquid that burst from the sack to fall only on his cloak and not touch his body.

He turned to face the direction of the gunshot.

On the spiral stairs, an advanced clergy dressed in a white uniform was slowly lowering the Hunter’s Firearm in his left hand.

Expressionless, he walked down the remaining stairs towards the first floor, his gaze focused on the corpse of the patient.

He said little, and the surrounding black-cloaked clergy seemed accustomed to this, beginning to work in an orderly manner as if under instruction.

Lann stepped back two steps.

Several black-cloaked clergy approached, using brooms and mops to clean up the cabinets and the various liquids scattered after the crash.

Several took away the corpse of another clergy member, dressed similarly in a black cloak, which had fallen silent.

Finally, several ran to the side of the Gray Blood Patient, whose head had been shattered near Lann, starting to take notes and inspect the body, performing a series of emergency documentation.

Throughout the process, even when dealing with the corpses of fellow clergy, their expressions were unnaturally calm, as if wiping soup spilled on a dining table.

A group of black-clothed clergy quietly handled a corpse that looked almost identical to themselves... This scene felt indescribably cold and eerie.

The white-clothed advanced clergy approached.

He was holding in his hand a Hunter’s Staff familiar to Lann, unthreatening before the weapon’s transformation.

"Did you touch his head earlier?"

The white-clothed clergy asked in a calm tone, raising his head to look into Lann’s eyes, resembling two unwavering black abysses.

"No," Lann said, seemingly unaffected, his palm habitually flicking after exertion as it had rested on the patient’s chest.

The white-clothed clergy ’coincidentally’ saw his palm during the flick and saw that it hadn’t been stained with any gray liquid.

His nods were subtle, and he seemed to disengage from Lann, who had suppressed the chaos in the research hall, preparing to direct the receipt of the Gray Blood Patient’s body.

But after taking a step, he seemed to remember something, turned his head, forcing a stiff smile.

"By the way, are you a Hunter? Or...?"

He asked casually.

However, Lann could feel the opponent’s eyes sliding over his body like a slippery snake.

The Demon Hunter smiled slightly, holding back the eye’s chilling nature, and spoke.

"I..."

"He’s a new Hunter."

But before Lann could speak, a cold yet calm female voice came from behind.

The sound of leather boots striking stone tiles was crisp and decisive, displaying an air of resoluteness.

The white-clothed clergy, bypassing Lann’s form, on recognizing the person coming from behind, let the forced smile slip from his face.

He quickly returned to an expressionless demeanor and turned away.

Lann also turned around and saw the woman who seemed to have intercepted him to protect him.

Her attire, a combination of smart elegance and complex hunting dress, exemplified Gothic aesthetics.

The half-cape covering the left shoulder carried a subtle grace.

She was tall, about one hundred and ninety centimeters, combining slenderness with strength.

Edd had to lift her skirt, running to keep up with her regular walking pace.

After arriving next to Lann, she first glanced at the white-clothed clergy’s distant back before raising her head, pressing the swan-feathered tricorn hat atop her head, to look at Lann.

In the shadow of the hat brim, the Demon Hunter caught sight of that face, causing his pupils to involuntarily constrict slightly.

That appearance... is identical to that of a doll?!
