The upside-down lake had a leak.

Above... or under(?) the waters, where the unnaturally colored sky was, accompanied by stars hung like scattered pearls in a bowl, two old men sighed in unison.

One had long silver hair cascading past his shoulders, a matching silver beard that tumbled down his chest, and a face full of grotesque scars that the beard did its valiant best to hide.

The other was white-haired, with a beard and mustache and even eyebrows that grew long like the visage of an ancient sage.

"What to do?" Bunny asked, scratching his magnificent beard.

"I don’t know. Call your son to fix it." Isaiah waved a scarred hand dismissively, his very, very long hair, dragging behind him, swishing with the motion.

"Don’t bother him. He’s studying abroad. We can try fixing the blob of false records ourselves."

"Why would you call it the blob in the first place? Try switching from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2."

"Grandpa, it’s not that simple."

"What did you call me?! Grandpa?!" Isaiah’s winter-grey eyes blazed with indignation. The scars on his face seemed to deepen with his scowl.

"You’re some hundred human years older than me! I just forgot how much older!"

Isaiah clamped his mouth shut with an audible click. He had been older than this man by quite a lot when they first met. A respectable hundreds of years age gap.

But that was before the time dilation and the dimension travel window gaps! This little shit who called himself Bunny had lived more years than him by several galactic years!

"Ah, forget it. Let’s fix it tomorrow. I’m sleepy, brother," Isaiah said.

"You can fix it?"

"Try pressing the ’Source’ button on the remote."

"I TOLD YOU THIS IS NOT A TV!"

"A glorified TV with channels expanding in all dimensions."

"It’s the blob of false records!"

"It’s a TV."

"Fine. I’ll try putting flex tape on it—"

"What do you mean by putting flex tape on it?"

The two ancient deities turned toward the voice, their argument dying in their throats. An old woman stood there, her back straight as a blade, her arms folded in front of her body.

Even Memory forgot she had been putting up with their nonsense for longer than galaxies were born.

Her hair was white, the white of moonlight on fresh snow, no longer the golden light of day anymore, cascading down her shoulders in waves that caught the inverted starlight and scattered it like diamonds.

Her face was lined with wrinkles, each one etched by laughter and fury and the erosion of eternity. Her hands were spotted with sun-kisses from a thousand different stars. Her body had softened and weathered and aged in ways that mortal poets would have wept to describe.

She was devastatingly beautiful. So beautiful that any and all ages who looked upon her would fall in love instantly. Would point at her beauty a million times first before remembering young ladies existed.

It seemed that time itself had become her jewelry.

"S-Sister... you just arrived...?" Isaiah stuttered, his scarred face going pale beneath its weathered bronze. Then, taking in her appearance, he added, "You took the long way back too, huh?"

"Tch." Momo clicked her tongue. What Cecilia had seen in the alternate world, the blonde goddess with the youthful visage, the smooth skin and the mischievous grin, could not compare to this.

That had been a comfortable old dress worn for mortal eyes. This represented the real Memory. More elegant. Sharper. Colder... Yet also kinder, more motherly.

"Who just broke the blob again?"

"Wasn’t me!" Isaiah reacted in panic. He had been blamed for far too many things in his extremely long life. Despite looking like an ancient, scarred deity who had massacred a realm, he jumped backward like a boy caught stealing honey cakes.

That was when both ancient gods turned to Bunny, who had been suspiciously silent since Momo’s arrival.

Ah.

Old man Oblivion’s jaw was hanging open.

His white beard quivered. His golden eyes had acquired a glint. The usual dangerous glint. A slow, wide grin spread across his weathered face, and he began to rub his hands together as if he had just discovered an unexpected feast.

"Oohh, baby mama..."

A violent shudder ran down Isaiah’s spine. His long grey hair actually bristled. "DISGUSTING!"

"What do you mean disgusting? That’s my wife. She hasn’t dressed up like that for so long."

Dressed up?! That seventy-year-old lady appearance, magnificent as it was, was dressing up?! Isaiah’s winter-grey eyes bulged. He looked at her, elegant, yes, beautiful, undoubtedly, but she looked like a grandmother!

A devastatingly gorgeous grandmother, but a grandmother nonetheless!

Usually, seeing a grandmother that beautiful, you’d fall in love, but then feel traumatized for the rest of your life from incomprehensible fear! But this man—this man was looking at her like she was a five-course meal!

Momo looked down at her body, her wrinkled hands smoothing the fabric of her black dress with something almost like shyness. The dress was simple but elegant, hugging her aged curves sophisticatedly.

"I put some effort into dressing up since we went our separate ways and had to cross some galactic years apart... you like it?"

"We’re fixing the blob’s leak tomorrow." Bunny licked his lips. "I’m fixing another leak tonight."

"GROSS!" Isaiah fled. He turned and crashed through several dimensional walls with a sound like shattering glass, his long grey hair streaming behind him like a comet’s tail of pure mortification.

To his credit, he quickly patched each broken barrier as he passed through, sealing the wounds in reality so nothing filthy leaked out.

"Hehehehehe..."

Bunny chuckled heartily, the sound rich and warm.

Though he looked old and weathered now, his back remained straight. The disgusting, flirty old man persona disappeared and what remained was the sage.

"How has my fair Lady fared?" he asked, his voice softening to something so gentle that flowers bloomed spontaneously on the surface of the inverted sky, their petals unfolding in shades of gold and rose.

"Took a bit of a detour." Momo’s voice was quieter now too, the sharp edges smoothing into something warmer. "Making sure some boundaries are thinner than they should have been."

Bunny smiled. "How cruel."

"Who did I learn it from?"

"Me?"

"You."

The two smiled at each other.

How long had they spent apart this time?

Quite an eternity.

But not the longest they had experienced. And they hadn’t experienced the longest separation yet.

"Next time, take the straightforward road and get here quicker." Bunny’s voice carried a gentle reproach. "You’ll meet me quicker that way."

"But you’ll still take the longer road," Momo said.

"But wouldn’t we still meet at the same time?" He chuckled, and his voice was like warm honey poured over aged wood.

No matter what road they took, the time they met again would always be the moment the other arrived. They could meet anywhere, at any point in time. If they wanted to.

And they always wanted to.

"You like to spend more time away from me?" Momo pouted. Her wrinkled lips were devastatingly adorable.

"It’s so we have even more time together, and less time worrying." Bunny pulled her closer, his weathered hands settling on the small of her back. "Don’t be mad. Why fold such a beautiful face? Stretch it with a smile instead."

"I’m just a wrinkled old bag to you now?"

"The sexy kind."

Momo sighed, the small sunspots on her cheeks flushing with a blush that had not diminished in the slightest since the first time he had made her smile, billions of years ago.

"Now, let’s sleep until we turn young again. Augh, my back... my back..." Bunny pulled her toward their floating cushion in the middle of the upside-down lake, his free hand pressed dramatically against his spine.

"It’ll take a while..." she whispered, settling beside him.

"Then we wake up when we turn sixty for a snack, and wake up again when we turn fifty to take a bath together."

"Hmm, when will we wake up for..."

"For what?"

"For..." She trailed off.

"At least when we’re forty, alright? This back is killing me, and I won’t be able to satisfy you with my stamina!"

"Hmph—pfft—"

Bunny smiled, proud as always to have made his wife laugh.

"In a good mood, my fair lady?" He leaned closer, his silver beard brushing against her cheek. "Did you make sure that girl remembered the whole sensation of her head being ripped off?"

"Yes, I did." Momo’s smile was sweet, satisfied. She clung to him, rubbing his chest in a slow circle. "I’m in such a goooooooood mood..."

Bunny’s expression froze.

Internally, he began reciting calming prayers. This woman—

She would be the death of him!
