The pectoral fins were a translucent deep blue, their edges shimmering with a faint, starlight-like luster.

With each movement, they faintly stirred the water into spirals, exuding an aura of the ocean that was both weighty and agile.

Its head was also more defined—large and round, giving it the imposing air of a creature that could soar through the sky.

’A flying whale?’

However, Ah Kun didn’t look exactly like a whale. It had a whale-like form but with a pair of enormous fins attached.

"It’s evolved! This is definitely a Form Evolution, a leap in its life hierarchy!"

Professor Wang Meng’s voice was the first to ring out, filled with shock and excitement.

"The database needs an update! Ladies and gentlemen, what we’re seeing is no longer an ordinary Grouper Fish, but the next stage of Evolution for a pure-blooded Grouper Fish."

"Because Gu Ming didn’t update the tournament organizers with this information, we’re also just learning about it now."

"But it’s understandable. After all, in a battle this crucial, revealing it suddenly is the best way to achieve the element of surprise."

"Those pectoral fins... that form... I don’t quite understand. Could it be evolving along the lines of a giant Flying Humpback Whale?"

Professor Shen Mingyuan, who was beside him, pushed up his glasses, his tone thick with curiosity.

From his perspective, the Flying Humpback Whale was a giant Flying Pet used for transportation. Its combat abilities were not considered strong compared to other Same-star Level pets.

Furthermore, its overly massive body and the fins meant for flight conflicted with the original physique of a Water Element Fish Pet.

It was possible that the Skills it had previously learned would be greatly diminished in its new form.

"Professor Shen, you’re looking at this the wrong way. This pectoral fin structure is clearly meant for better control over wind and waves, and perhaps... it might even have the ability to glide short distances or hover at low altitudes."

"If it can fly, it might be able to avoid the restrictions of the Grass Seed Withering Array on the other side."

Professor Wang followed his instincts, analyzing and trying to grasp a way to break through Jiang Jinling’s Array lockdown.

Down in the arena, Jiang Jinling’s expression changed slightly upon hearing this.

She had clearly only just realized that her Array could potentially be countered by Ah Kun’s new abilities.

Although Qing Bao’s Seed of Rootless Wood Grass didn’t need to be planted on the ground and could grow in the void, her Grass Seed Withering Array still affected a certain area of Space.

As long as the opponent’s Grass Seeds descended from the sky and tried to take root on the ground, her Array would always have a chance to suppress them in the low-altitude zone.

Just as the entire stadium was buzzing over Ah Kun’s new form, Gu Ming summoned his third Pet Beast.

A shadow stirred, and the mysterious Pet Beast, Ah Ji, appeared silently. It revealed its Cat Demon form for an instant before melting back into Gu Ming’s shadow.

Facing Gu Ming’s lineup of Qing Bao, Ah Kun, and Ah Ji, Jiang Jinling quickly composed her expression and waved a slender hand.

The first to appear was, naturally, her bonded Pet Beast, the Mutated Grass Spirit.

But compared to six months ago, it too had changed significantly.

Its figure was taller, and its emerald skin resembled the finest jade.

The transparent green wings on its back had transformed into wings of light that resembled a cape, and a small, emerald-green crystalline crown shaped like a sapling had appeared on its forehead, radiating a pure and powerful life force of wood and grass.

It hovered in mid-air, already possessing the nascent form and regal bearing of a Grass Elf Queen.

"Has it evolved? No, its Elf King bloodline has awakened!" Shen Mingyuan immediately pointed out.

"Before, its Array Formation speed was already fast."

"Now, its control over plant life will be far beyond what it was before."

Immediately after, points of light gathered beside Jiang Jinling, coalescing into her second Pet Beast.

It was an Elemental Spirit of indeterminate form, surrounded by a soft halo of light.

It had no fixed form, at times appearing like a leaping flame, at others like a flowing droplet of water, and then like a tiny whirlwind, as if it were made of the purest elemental energy.

"That’s... an Elemental Spirit!"

"It can serve as an excellent relay station and amplifier for Array energy, seamlessly linking the Power of Arrays of various Attributes and providing Jiang Jinling with unprecedented Array breadth!"

"It’s also the Mana anchor for many of Jiang Jinling’s Arrays. Without it, many of her Arrays wouldn’t be able to function."

Finally, Jiang Jinling summoned her third Pet Beast.

Everyone thought it would be an Elf Pet.

But it turned out to be an Ancient Array Plate hovering in front of her. The plate was covered in complex Runes and was slowly rotating, emitting an arcane fluctuation.

"The rumored third Pet Beast... it really is an Array Pet!"

Shen Mingyuan said with a look of understanding:

"This Array Plate can serve as a vessel for pre-set Arrays, greatly reducing the activation time for core Arrays and stabilizing their structure."

"Contestant Jiang Jinling intends to take the path of Arrays to its absolute limit."

With all of the Pet Beasts from both sides on the field, their powerful auras clashed. The invisible pressure made the audience hold their breath.

At the commentators’ desk, Professor Wang Meng took a deep breath and summarized:

"The situation is once again different from what we predicted before the match!"

"Contestant Jiang Jinling’s side is more or less what we expected, but as for Gu Ming..."

He changed his tone, his gaze burning as he looked at the eye-catching Ah Kun on the field:

"The unexpected Evolution of Gu Ming’s Ah Kun has introduced a huge variable!"

"Its brand-new form and abilities were likely not accounted for in any of Jiang Jinling’s previous tactical simulations!"

"Because of Ah Kun’s appearance, the scales of victory in this match have already subtly tipped!"

"Now, it all comes down to whether Jiang Jinling’s ’iron wall of Arrays’ is stronger, or if Gu Ming’s three Pet Beasts can create a miracle!"

"Battle—begin!"

Following the referee’s command, the highly anticipated showdown between the "Gemini-star" freshmen officially began.

The moment the referee’s "begin" fell silent, a sharp glint flashed in Jiang Jinling’s eyes as her hands were already forming seals.

The Grass Elf King by her side spread its wings, unleashing an emerald radiance. Pure energy of wood and grass rippled outward, instantly outlining the prototype of a complex Array Pattern on the ground.

Meanwhile, the Ancient Array Plate hummed, levitating into mid-air and projecting streams of runic light that accelerated and stabilized the Array’s construction.

The Elemental Spirit’s form flowed, transforming into a bridge of pure energy that perfectly linked the Grass Elf King’s Power with the Array Plate.

A green Barrier covering half the field was rapidly taking shape.

It was none other than the "Grass Seed Withering Array," designed specifically to counter Grass Element seeds. She intended to preemptively neutralize Qing Bao’s most troublesome attrition ability!

However, Gu Ming’s reaction was faster. Or rather, his strategy required no on-the-spot improvisation.

"Ah Kun, stir up the waves!"

Gu Ming commanded mentally.

"WHOOO—!"

The evolved Ah Kun let out a deep, resonant whale call, and its wide, starlit pectoral fins slammed down!

It didn’t just slap the small ball of water supporting its body, but stirred up the entire arena’s airflow and Water Elements!

In an instant, a monstrous wave materialized out of thin air, mixed with Starlight and undercurrents, its sheer scale immense.

It not only changed the battlefield environment in a flash, but also surged with the force of a tidal wave, crashing directly toward Jiang Jinling’s incomplete Array!

At almost the same moment the wave rose, Qing Bao made its move.

Its serpentine body coiled as a Life Light Wave pulsed, and countless gleaming Seeds of Rootless Wood, like a squadron of nimble bombers, used the cover of the great wave to scatter toward the opponent’s side of the field from all sorts of tricky angles.

As soon as they appeared, the seeds traced arcs through the air. Some even clung to the crest of the wave, attempting to bypass the area directly covered by the ground-based Array.

Ah Ji didn’t attack directly. Instead, it used Shadow Teleportation to move silently around the field.

Under the cover of the massive wave, the shadows beneath the tide began to rapidly expand and warp!

Lines of shadow snaked across the ground as if they were alive. They weren’t offensive, but they were quickly sketching out and constructing something.

An Energy Fluctuation completely different from Jiang Jinling’s Array—a mix of the piercing sensation of "Qi Mechanism Disorder" and the pure feeling of "Lesser Starlight Purification"—was silently gathering within the shadows!

While his opponent was going all out with her Array Formation, Gu Ming was using Ah Ji’s Shadow Mimicry ability to covertly lay the foundation for his own Array-Breaking!

Jiang Jinling’s expression tightened. Gu Ming’s opening gambit was even faster than she had anticipated, and the strange movements of that shadow Pet Beast clearly showed he had come prepared.

However, what she wanted to know most was whether Qing Bao’s Seeds of Rootless Wood Grass would be countered by her Array.
