Becoming a Saint From the Iron Armor Skill

Chapter 445 - 224: Slashed to White Bones

Chapter 445: Chapter 224: Slashed to White Bones

The layered Sword Intent was so dense it seemed corporeal, a torrent of steel forged from countless Long Sabers that engulfed the Earth Defect Old Monster!

SHRED! SHRED! SHRED! SHRED!

The sound was like a sharp blade slicing through flesh—nearly inaudible, yet undeniably present.

A few breaths later, the raging gale suddenly died down, and the mountain forest fell silent in an instant.

The Earth Defect Old Monster’s body suddenly exploded into a mist of blood. In his place, a stark white skeleton slowly fell, landing upright and embedding itself in the ground.

To strip a man to the bone with a Long Saber! What kind of heaven-defying Sword Intent was this?!

Shen Qingxuan and the others, who lay gravely wounded on the ground, were horrified beyond belief at the sight.

Their eyes bulged! Their mouths hung open! They nearly stopped breathing!

Their minds went blank. They’d forgotten how to think; they were incapable of it.

All they could vaguely make out was a saber-wielding figure quickly patting down Wang Xiongzhang’s corpse before flashing into the forest and vanishing from sight.

An unknown amount of time passed before the roars and snarls of Demon Beasts suddenly echoed through the forest.

When Shen Qingxuan and the others finally came to their senses, despair washed over their faces once more.

They were all severely wounded, unable to even move.

A single Tier One Demon Beast could come along and devour them all.

"Sigh... To think that after everything, we’d still end up as food for Demon Beasts."

Shen Qingxuan said with a bitter laugh.

Jiang Ling, however, couldn’t accept their fate. She stared blankly in the direction the saber-wielding figure had vanished and murmured, "Why didn’t that senior save us?"

"Perhaps that senior was injured too and couldn’t spare a thought for us. We have to find a way to save ourselves."

Qin Ruixuan, another member of their team, struggled to his feet. Leaning against a large tree, he took out a Quails’ Whistle, placed it to his lips, and blew with all his might.

His face flushed crimson as he managed to produce just a few faint notes. Then, with a retch, he coughed up a mouthful of blood and collapsed, unconscious.

Seeing this, Shen Qingxuan’s survival instincts took over. She fumbled for her own Quails’ Whistle, preparing to blow with all her might.

But just then, a frenzied cacophony of roars erupted. A rumbling echoed from the nearby woods—the Demon Beasts were already upon them.

"Sigh... It’s too late." Shen Qingxuan lowered the Quails’ Whistle and smiled bitterly.

The others also wore looks of resignation.

The roars of the Demon Beasts drew nearer, followed by the sound of crashing trees. Two Tier One Wild Boars, drawn by the scent of blood, burst out from the nearby woods.

Upon spotting the grievously wounded humans, both boars squealed with excitement and charged.

Their long tusks and gaping, blood-red maws were a terrifying sight.

They had all come to terms with their impending deaths, but seeing that their end would come from mere Tier One Wild Boars, they couldn’t help a shared, self-deprecating smile.

These Wild Boars were beasts they could normally slay with ease; they had lost count of how many they had killed.

They had eaten the meat and drunk the blood of these boars more times than they could count.

They knew every detail as if reciting family heirlooms: which cuts of Wild Boar meat were the most tender and delicious, how grilling it tasted different from stewing it.

But such is the unpredictability of life. After a lifetime of eating Wild Boar, they were now destined to be eaten by them.

The irony was palpable.

The Wild Boars seemed to be discerning, as they charged toward Shen Qingxuan and Jiang Ling.

The color drained from both women’s faces, and they squeezed their eyes shut!

"Vile beasts!" Just then, a sharp cry rang out. Two figures burst from the woods and, with a double SWISH of their swords, struck down.

Amid the boars’ shrill squeals, their heads were lopped clean off!

"Cousin!"

Shen Qingxuan’s face was splattered with crimson boar blood, a ghastly sight, but her eyes shone with an unprecedented light.

A smile bloomed on her blood-streaked face, making her white teeth seem dazzling in contrast.

The newcomers were none other than the sisters, Shen Qingyao and Shen Qingshuang.

Shen Qingshuang glanced at her cousin and the others, then her gaze shifted to the short, ghastly white skeleton planted upright in the ground not far away.

Nearby, Shen Qingyao, who had just saved Jiang Ling by slaying the other boar, was also staring at the skeleton in a daze.

Several more figures rushed onto the scene; it was Shen Zhiheng, Luo Mingyu, and the others.

The Demon Beast Tide had first been drawn by the Beast-Attracting Incense. Then, the fight between Chen Cheng and the Earth Defect Old Monster created a heaven-shaking commotion.

This had scattered the hundreds of Demon Beasts into chaos, allowing the members of the Demon-slaying Team to regroup. Their strength bolstered, they had cut a path through the stragglers to get here.

"There are still many Demon Beasts in the forest, and the smell of blood is drawing them here. We need to retreat, now—"

Shen Zhiheng started to order a retreat, but the sight of the skeleton stunned him into silence.

After a long moment, he finally asked, his voice filled with shock, "This skeleton... both its legs are severed below the knee. Don’t tell me... is this... the Earth Defect Old Monster?"

"It has to be," Shen Qingyao said. "His clothes and flesh may have been obliterated, but the lingering Yin Evil Qi is proof enough that this is the Earth Defect Old Monster.

He must have been slain by that senior just moments ago."

Shen Qingyao turned to Shen Qingxuan. "What happened here?"

Shen Qingxuan recounted the whole story in detail: how the Earth Defect Old Monster had suddenly appeared, how he’d killed Wang Xiongzhang with a single blow, and how a mysterious senior had then arrived and stripped the monster to the bone.

After hearing her account, the group was shocked beyond measure. A stunned silence fell over them.

No one moved until another wave of bestial roars, heading straight for them, snapped them out of their stupor.

They were still trapped within the Demon Beast Tide, and the danger was far from over.

"This is bad. The stench of blood has drawn the attention of the Demon Beast Tide," Shen Zhiheng said. "Everyone, let’s fall back to a safer location before we do anything else."

But his words came too late. Dozens of Demon Beasts suddenly burst from the woods, roaring as they charged the group.
