Chapter 502: Chapter 248: The Strongest Realm

Heaven and earth, the sun and the moon—all are opposing aspects of Yin and Yang.

Only by "the union of Yin and Yang, through which the two poles achieve balance, can one receive the blessings of creation and ascend to ultimate bliss."

The beginning of the book was decent enough, but the rest of it was dedicated solely to expounding on how Yin and Yang should unite and just how blissful that union could be.

It even subtly hinted that the Great Yu Founding Saint Emperor had become a Martial Saint only because he had cultivated the Yin Yang Realm, which allowed him to finally attain his Dao.

’Tooting their own horn. That sounds just like the Sutra of Ultimate Sect!’

Chen Cheng shook his head slightly. He flipped to the last page and, just as he expected, found a small note: "This book is a guarded secret of the Sutra of Ultimate Sect, obtainable only by those with whom it shares a destiny."

He then turned to browse the other books.

As expected, he found many more books comparing the power of different Realms. However, each one seemed to have its own bias.

One claimed the Sword Dao Realm was the strongest, another the Blade Dao Realm, and yet another the Killing Realm.

Chen Cheng had been looking for answers, but after browsing through them, he was only more confused.

’In the end, what Master Mr. Zheng said about the Third Layer Realm, the True Intent of Heaven and Earth, seems far more reliable.

This is the Scripture Pavilion of the Great Dao Sect, yet it houses so many books about the inherited Realms of other Sects. It just doesn’t make sense.

Even though accessing these books requires special clearance that ordinary Purple-clothed Guards don’t have, they shouldn’t be stored in the Demon Suppression Department’s Scripture Pavilion at all!

Isn’t the Great Dao Sect afraid its disciples might see these, be drawn to the inherited Realms of other Sects, and defect?’

Puzzled, Chen Cheng continued his search, eventually finding a book titled *Dao Chapter* on a separate shelf.

"The Great Dao is simple."

The first page contained just those four simple words.

"The Dao that can be spoken is not the eternal Dao. The name that can be named is not the eternal name... From complexity to simplicity... When all splendor fades, the clear sky is seen; in the utter silence, the true sound is heard..."

The *Dao Chapter* was long and verbose. Chen Cheng spent a full quarter of an hour reading it, but when he finished, he was utterly bewildered.

The book’s contents were far too esoteric.

Chen Cheng would rather sit and debate the Dao with that fellow Shen Zhiming than read this book.

"Fucking useless!"

Such was Chen Cheng’s final verdict.

"Hahaha! ’Fucking useless!’ Well said!"

A hearty laugh rang out as Xia Lingfeng, the Director of the Demon Suppression Department, strode in.

"Greetings, Lord Xia!"

Chen Cheng placed the book back on the shelf and bowed formally.

Xia Lingfeng had a rough exterior and a straightforward personality. He was an open book—frank, magnanimous, and completely without guile.

Deep down, Chen Cheng held a great deal of respect for him.

"No need for formalities!" Xia Lingfeng waved a dismissive hand. Noticing the books Chen Cheng had been perusing, he chuckled and said,

"You’re looking into books on Realm Power, are you, kid?"

"I am," Chen Cheng replied with a slight nod.

"So, after reading all that, you’ve concluded these books are ’fucking useless’?" Xia Lingfeng asked.

Chen Cheng smiled. "That was just an offhand remark, my lord. Perhaps a bit one-sided.

In truth, they were quite an eye-opener and broadened my horizons significantly."

"Oh?" Xia Lingfeng seemed surprised. "So you’ve had some great insights, then?"

Chen Cheng shook his head and answered honestly, "I have had many insights, my lord. But the more I learn, the more confused I become."

"Hahaha!" Xia Lingfeng let out another booming laugh. After a moment, he said,

"You’re just like I was back in the day, kid. I was fine when I wasn’t cultivating, but the moment I started, I’d get all muddled.

And when I got muddled, I’d have to get to the bottom of it, pestering my master with questions until he couldn’t stand it anymore. I got my fair share of scoldings."

Chen Cheng hadn’t interacted much with Xia Lingfeng, but he could easily imagine the scene of him being scolded by his master. The thought was amusing.

"Lord Xia’s current Martial Arts Achievement must be thanks to that good habit of diligent inquiry," Chen Cheng said.

Xia Lingfeng remarked with a sigh, "As the saying goes, ’to know what you know and what you do not know, that is true knowledge.’ I truly have benefited greatly from my inquisitiveness."

As he spoke, he suddenly raised an eyebrow and grinned. "But, you know, a lot of the time, I actually felt what my master taught me was fucking useless.

On the path of the Martial Dao, if you don’t reach a certain level yourself, you’ll never learn it, no matter how much your master teaches you."

Crude words, but sound reasoning. Xia Lingfeng’s speech only made Chen Cheng admire him more.

For Xia Lingfeng to have achieved what he had today, he clearly had real substance.

"My lord, I’ve had a question for some time, and I hope you might be able to enlighten me," Chen Cheng said, bowing once more with a serious expression.

Xia Lingfeng said, "Don’t be so formal. Just ask. If I know the answer, I’ll tell you.

If I don’t, then you’ve asked for nothing."

Chen Cheng said, "My lord, I was just looking through these books. Some say the Eight Trigrams Realm is the strongest, while others claim it’s the Yin Yang Realm, and still others champion different Realms entirely.

With all these conflicting claims, I don’t know which one is correct."
