"Kids... kids, kids, kids..." I breathed out with a quiet laugh as I swept the floor, pushing the broom slowly across the polished surface.

Even though Carla had more than enough butlers and cleaners to keep the entire mansion spotless, I still liked doing little things like this myself.

It made me feel human.

The mansion was peaceful, filled only with the soft scrape of the broom against the floor.

Then I heard a cry.

I immediately stopped sweeping and turned my head toward our room.

"Enzo..." I murmured, setting the broom against the wall before walking down the hallway.

The crying grew louder with every step. When I opened the bedroom door, I found my poor little boy squirming in his blankets, his tiny face scrunched up as he cried.

Just seconds ago, he had been completely asleep.

"Oh, buddy..." I whispered, walking over to his crib.

I leaned down and looked at him, watching his little hands move restlessly as he continued to fuss.

"Must be hungry," I said softly, already reaching down to pick him up.

I carefully lifted Enzo into my arms and held him against my chest, gently rocking him from side to side.

"Alright, alright... Dad's got you."

I quickly reached over and grabbed one of the bottles from the table, the ones Carla had prepared before leaving for her meeting.

"Stupid meetings," I muttered with a sigh, looking toward the door before settling back down with Enzo in my arms.

I adjusted him carefully against me and brought the bottle to his lips. He latched onto it almost immediately, drinking with surprising eagerness.

"Easy, buddy..." I whispered, watching him feed.

He finished it quickly, and I lowered the bottle slightly, looking down at his peaceful little face. His tiny hands had relaxed, and his cries had completely stopped.

"Just a bit more... and we'll be gone from here," I murmured, gently brushing my thumb along his cheek.

I stared at him for a moment, letting the quiet settle around us.

"My Enzo..." I whispered, a small smile forming on my face. "Beautiful, sweet boy."

I held him a little closer against my chest, savoring the warmth of his tiny body in my arms. For all the chaos that surrounded our lives, moments like this made everything else feel distant.

"I just hope you won't ever have to go through anything like I did," I said quietly, gently rocking Enzo in my arms. "I want you to have a peaceful, normal life... one where you don't have to worry about the things I had to worry about."

My eyes drifted toward the window. Outside, the scenery was exactly as it always was, the sprawling grounds, the trees stretching into the distance, and the familiar landscape surrounding the mansion.

I had seen it thousands of times by now.

And somehow, it still brought me peace.

I looked back down at Enzo, who was resting comfortably against me, his tiny eyes beginning to grow heavy again.

"I miss your mom," I said with a quiet chuckle. "She'll be back soon, though."

I smiled and gently adjusted the blanket around him, making sure he was comfortable.

"For now, though..." I murmured, looking down at my son with a soft smile. "It's just you and me."

Enzo made a tiny sound in response, and I couldn't help but laugh quietly.

"Yeah," I whispered. "Just you and me, buddy."
