The truck rocked slightly as it turned onto the paved road leading toward the private runway. The tires crunched faintly over loose gravel before settling onto smooth asphalt.
Through the armored window I could already see it.
A sleek private jet sat waiting near the start of the runway, its white body gleaming under the afternoon sun. A few crew members moved around it, checking equipment and loading the last pieces of luggage.
We rolled past the gate slowly, the security guards there stepping aside without hesitation as the convoy approached.
I leaned forward slightly in my seat, staring out the window at the aircraft.
"Wait..." I said, turning toward Carla.
"If you can fly private, and you have your own runway... why were you at the airport that day a while ago?"
The memory popped into my head immediately—the day we had first run into each other. Back then, I had just assumed she was traveling like everyone else.
Now it clearly didn't make sense.
Carla glanced at me briefly before looking back out toward the jet.
"Had to take care of business," she said calmly.
Her tone carried that familiar edge—the one she used when the subject wasn't something she planned on explaining in detail.
"And I wanted to be there for it."
There was something slightly ominous about the way she said it, but I didn't press further.
With Carla, "business" could mean a thousand different things.
Still, I nodded slowly, understanding enough not to dig deeper.
Outside, the truck rolled closer to the jet, the massive wings casting a long shadow across the runway as we approached.
I stared at the jet as the truck rolled closer to the runway. The thing looked enormous up close, its polished surface reflecting the bright afternoon light.
And for some reason, the first thought that popped into my head was completely ridiculous.
'I wonder what it would feel like to have sex on that thing.'
The thought came out of nowhere, vivid enough that I immediately shook my head a little, trying to shove it out of my brain.
Focus.
But the awkward tension was already there, sitting in the back of my mind while I stared out the window.
"You are so giving me head when we take off," Carla suddenly said beside me.
The bluntness of it made my face instantly heat up.
I turned toward her, my eyes widening slightly as the realization that she had probably read my expression—or worse, my thoughts—settled in.
"Carla!" I blurted out, my voice dropping into an embarrassed whisper as I felt my cheeks flush.
Meanwhile she just looked completely unfazed, the corner of her mouth lifting in quiet amusement as the truck continued rolling toward the waiting jet.
We hopped out of the truck once it rolled to a stop near the jet. The warm air outside hit my face immediately after sitting in the armored vehicle for so long.
Without even thinking about it, I walked toward the back of the truck to grab my luggage.
It was pure instinct.
Meanwhile Carla stayed near the door of the vehicle, watching me with a confused look on her face as I moved around like I was at a normal airport pickup.
I reached the back and paused.
The space was... empty.
My brain caught up with what was happening about two seconds too late.
I slowly looked back toward the runway.
The crew I had literally watched earlier were already finishing loading the luggage into the jet's storage compartment.
"Oh shit—" I said out loud, rubbing the back of my neck as the realization hit me.
I had just watched them load everything a minute ago.
Carla crossed her arms slightly, clearly amused by the whole thing as she watched me stand there processing my own stupidity.
"Sorry—I'm a bit loopy today," I said as I walked beside Carla toward the jet. "Didn't sleep much."
The stairs were already lowered, the metal steps gleaming in the sunlight. A crew member stood off to the side as we approached, giving Carla a respectful nod.
I stepped up first, gripping the railing as I climbed inside, Carla following right behind me.
The moment I crossed the doorway, I stopped.
The inside of the jet was nothing like the cramped planes I was used to seeing.
It felt more like stepping into a luxury lounge than an aircraft. Polished wooden tables were fixed between wide leather seats, the cushions thick and comfortable-looking.
Soft lighting ran along the sides of the cabin, and the windows were larger than I expected, letting in plenty of daylight.
Everything looked spotless.
"Wow," I breathed.
I slowly walked farther down the aisle, taking it all in as I passed the seats. My hand brushed lightly across one of the tables, feeling the smooth finish of the wood.
Eventually I moved toward the back and dropped into one of the cushioned seats.
The moment I sat down, I sank slightly into the soft leather.
Yeah... this was definitely nothing like flying commercial.
Carla slid into the seat across from me, turning slightly so she could face me more comfortably. She pulled one leg up a little as she settled in, looking completely relaxed.
She smiled softly, placing her hands neatly on her lap as the crew outside finished their preparations.
"Just us two," she said.
The jet doors shut with a solid, muffled thud, sealing the cabin. The quiet hum of the aircraft systems filled the space, and it suddenly felt much more private.
Just the two of us... and the pilots up front.
"No bodyguards?" I asked, leaning forward a little in my seat. A small part of me couldn't help wondering if that was really a good idea. "Is that really safe?"
Carla didn't look worried in the slightest.
"Don't worry," she said calmly. "We'll be protected."
A faint smirk appeared on her face as she reached beside her and grabbed a bottle of wine that had been sitting in a small holder. She uncorked it easily and poured herself a glass, the deep red liquid filling it halfway.
She lifted it slightly, letting it swirl before taking a small sip.
I couldn't help smiling a little at how effortlessly relaxed she looked.
A moment later the faint vibration under my feet changed.
The jet began moving.
Outside the window, the runway slowly started sliding past as the plane taxied forward, preparing for takeoff.
I felt a knot form in my stomach as the jet accelerated down the runway. The engines roared louder for a few seconds, the whole cabin vibrating beneath my feet.
Then suddenly the pressure shifted.
The ground tilted away beneath us.
My body pressed slightly back into the seat as the plane lifted into the air, the runway shrinking quickly through the window beside me.
I swallowed, my fingers gripping the armrest for a moment without me even realizing it.
Carla noticed immediately.
"Everything's fine," she said calmly from across the table. "Nothing different from a normal commercial flight."
Her voice was steady, almost amused.
I nodded, trying to relax my shoulders as I turned my head toward the window again.
Outside, the ground was already far below us. The landscape stretched out like a giant map, slowly fading beneath a layer of clouds as we climbed higher.
Within a few moments the plane broke through them.
Bright white clouds drifted past the windows, glowing softly in the sunlight.
I exhaled slowly, letting some of the tension leave my chest.
"Yeah..." I murmured quietly, watching the clouds roll by. "Just like a normal flight."
"If you want... I can maybe take some stress off," she cooed, lifting her glass to her lips for another small sip of wine.
The way she said it made my face heat up almost immediately.
Before I could even think of a response, she set the glass down on the table and stood up from her seat.
Then, to my surprise, she moved over and knelt down in front of me.
I blinked, my blush deepening as I realized exactly what she was implying.
"Carla..." I started awkwardly.
She just smiled up at me, calm and confident as always.
"Relax," she said softly. "Just sit back and enjoy it."
Her tone wasn't teasing—it was warm, almost affectionate.
"You've made me feel good so many times," she continued. "It's only fair."
For a moment I just sat there, still slightly flustered as the quiet hum of the jet filled the cabin and clouds drifted past the window beside us.
