Beyond Chaos – A DiceRPG

[1689] – Y07.189 – To Home IV

“Daddy, you are allowed to lose, but you cannot lose to the Blood Knight,” Jirot grumbled, not for the first time that day, returning to angrily suck on her thumb as she shuffled, turning to sleep against her father’s bicep. “Anyone else, you can lose to. To the Blood Knight, you cannot.”

As his daughter shuffled once more, Adam peeked down at his son, who exchanged a knowing look towards his father, and yet his daughter did not notice, for she was that upset, and so the half elf allowed her to complain, to speak the words, not just in the Iyr’s tongue, but in the Aldish tongue, the Aswadian tongue, and even the fiery tongue of the devilkin, those who spoke a particular infernal tongue.

“Daddy!” Jirot called once more, but it was then, having dropped her guard, her father assaulted her, his lips covering her face all over, and the girl fell still, all the while her father showered her in kisses all over her forehead, her cheeks, and even her neck. When he stopped he did the same for his son, though they were slower, gentler kisses, and so the girl was completely defeated, and thus remained silent for the rest of the night, until finally she fell asleep, gripping upon her father’s shirt as if to tear him away into her sleep so she could continue berating him so for the entire night.

It was the most wonderful sleep.

Jirot awoke, a small smile upon her lips, for within her dreams, her mother would not save her father, and as she stood, waddling away, the eyes of her father, her mother, and her brother too, all followed her. As the girl stepped out into the dawn’s rays, those of noonval’s sun against Ever Green, the light basked all across her, and thus she allowed the warm rays to tickle her so tenderly.

Ah.

Today was going to be a good day.

“Stop philosophising, it’s bath time.”

“It’s always bath time with you, daddy!”

“Fine then, me and mummy and Jarot will have a bath without you!”

“I said I did not wish to bathe with you and mummy and Jarot?”

“Then hurry up, otherwise I’m going to steal mummy away!”

“You dare? Courting death!” The girl prepared to cast her spell, but her father had already turned upon his heel, calling for his wife, and so the girl, with a swiftness that betrayed she was her nano’s greatdaughter, except her legs betrayed she was still a tiny girl, so it took a little extra time, for her father was bullying her this morning, reminding her that he was still her father, and she his daughter, up until they were in the baths, in which the girl floated between her father and mother, reminding him that she was still his daughter, and he her father.

“…”

“…”

“Stop it,” Vonda said, holding up a blade like finger. “If you do not, I will not bathe with you again this month.”

Jirot and Adam gasped together in such terror, the two quickly reaching for one another, hugging one another, exchanging kisses, before they made their way to the Ray, all the while little Jarot remained to one side, side eyeing his father and sister.

‘So cringe.’

It was a wonderful breakfast, for the breakfast was so full of potatoes, and thus it was a wonderful breakfast, and what a wonderful day for a wonderful breakfast, but unfortunately it was-,

A finger claimed the girl’s nose, who was no longer glaring at the fellow, and instead she glanced aside towards her mother.

“If you keep looking at him, your father will be heartbroken,” Vonda said, for she could feel the girl’s thoughts from atop her lap, the girl having claimed her mother, which was her great mistake, for now her mother would discipline her well, and she would have little chance to cause big trouble, and littler chance to cause bigger trouble.

“Mummy…” Jirot called, flushing a guilty flush, and she retreated to her mother’s bosom.

Vonda sighed, glancing aside to her husband, who made the wise choice of finding great interest within his potato, as though admiring its structure, its fluffiness, the way the bland flavour only emphasises the butter and herbs within its centre, and how was it that its skin could be so soft, so flaky, and yes, wasn’t it this food that was a gift from the Divine?

‘To think I would have to watch over you as a child too…’

“Darling, how can you bully me like this?” Adam asked, holding his wife’s gaze, for he could feel the prickly glare against the side of his neck. “I know they all monopolised me instead of you, but you can’t blame me.”

“Am I to blame my innocent Jirot and innocent Jarot?”

“Dear, you may call Jarot innocent, especially little Jarot, but to call Jirot innocent is a little…”

“I will call her innocent for she is innocent.”

Adam held his wife’s gaze, for if she was going this far, it seemed that, perhaps, the half elf would need to earn her forgiveness. “That’s it! I’m going to monopolise you today!”

“What!” Jirot gasped, holding up a blade like finger, but her mother held out her hand so they intertwined their fingers together.

“How will you do so?”

“We are in Ever Green now, so let’s go on a date, just you and I, and whoever they send to spy on us to make sure we don’t get into any trouble.”

Asa turned his head towards the half elf, who spoke the words which should be unspoken, and then turned to the rest of the Iyrmen, realising why so much had appeared, and his lips formed a small smile.

“We shall see, and if you do not please me, I will inform Jirot, and we shall see how much mercy she shows, yes?” Vonda leaned down and planted a kiss on the girl’s forehead, causing her to flush.

“Yes…” Jirot sat upright, for she was a girl with an upright heart, save for those who did not require her mercy.

‘Uh oh,’ Konarot thought, glancing between her mother and father. If it was this bad, perhaps she would need to step in. She turned, catching Kirot’s gaze, and the girl shook her head, for they should have faith in their mother and father, who were wisest, even in comparison to the Seven Missing Sages, who were still assumed to be alive, even after all these years. Little Karot blinked. He wanted to go on a date with his mummy and daddy too.

Hakam looked aside to his grandfather, who was trying to keep up with the conversation, until he turned and whispered into his grandson’s ear. ‘Oh. I assumed that.’

The greenery of Ever Green accompanied their hearts, the two making their way through the long streets, finding all manner of small parks between nooks and crannies, and as they approached a particular shop, the smell of herbs and tea filled the air, and as the two stepped up, the woman screamed lightly, though quickly straightened up as she noticed the amulets, black, causing a gasp, then the rose atop a silver sun, which caused the woman to straighten up further.

“O-oooh! G-good morning, Ray, Father, a thousand and ten blessings, for though it is Lord Noor’s Rays, certainly it is the Mother who grants us Life.” The woman bowed her head respectfully, her eyes darting to the half elf. “Of course, i-it is the Son who grants us a good and decent Death.”

“Good mor-,” Adam began, but he smiled innocently, turning to his wife, his eyes widening slightly.

“Mother’s Mercy, how do you fare this morning?” Vonda asked.

“Oh! I’m always well, as always, thank you, Ray, Mother, how are you, and you too, Father?”

“We are well thank you,” Vonda replied with a smile, bowing her head gently, and she beamed brightly. “I was hoping to buy some tea.”

“Oh! If you wish for some tea, I can brew you a cup, and if there is a tea which pleases you, I will fill a pouch!”

“If you could, please, and also, do you by any chance have, uh, um, I want to say it’s called silver moon, it’s usually sold in Red Oak?”

“If it’s silver moon, Father, do you by any chance mean silver lunar, or white moon?”

“Uh, you know what, I’ll just buy both, it’s not like I’m poor or anything.” Adam laughed, only to pause, for was that the right thing for a Father to say, for as a father, certainly he could, but as a Father, certainly not? “I’d like to buy a lot of tea while I’m here, since I know Ever Green has the best.”

“Of course, Father, and there’s no need to pay, it shall be my donation.”

“It’s a lot of tea, so I’ll pay, and I shall bless you for the thoughts,” Adam said, but instead of continuing, he glanced at his wife.

“We shall buy a great many pouches, and you may donate the silver lunar and white moon,” Vonda offered, bowing her head gently, and the woman smiled.

Adam clasped his pinky with his wife’s, for how could she flirt with him so overtly like this, being all wise? Then the half elf blinked. ‘Oh! Right! I can’t forget!’
