Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis

Chapter 112 95: Fire Seed·Blood Robe Priest

The Storyteller said enthusiastically.

Players aren't afraid of a little madness.

As long as the power level is high, some people can even accept the appearance of Magic Girl Urgat.

Not to mention this was just a Blood Robe Priest that only looked a little unhinged.

After finishing their chat in the group, everyone logged back on and resumed their exploration of the Seaside Town.

...

The torrential rain continued to drench all of Regga Town.

Li Miao and Shore had also entered the instance long ago and arrived at the plaza.

After a grueling battle, they finally managed to defeat the Blood Robe Priest in the center of the plaza.

"Hehehe... No... No..."

With a final, neurotic laugh, the Blood Robe Priest collapsed onto the Array and turned into Ashes.

Besides the Fire Seed and the Banner, the two also obtained a piece of equipment from the Blood Robe Priest.

[Blood Robe of the Priest (Fine)]

[Type: Robe]

[Effect: Provides weak Defense, slightly reduces Casting cost]

[Explanation: The robe worn by a Blood Robe Priest, but perhaps it wasn't originally red.]

So it really is Blood Clothes.

As they picked up the loot, their eyes inevitably fell upon the important ritual Array.

Needless to say, they couldn't understand the patterns on it. They were almost entirely carved with blood, and a few bloody human body parts were placed in the corners.

And on this ritual Array, Li Miao noticed a detail.

"Why are there cracks and holes..."

Li Miao looked at the crack on the ground, almost a finger's width wide. It was dark below, leading to who-knows-where.

This wasn't an isolated case; they were arranged in neat, converging patterns. Some dried bloodstains had flowed into them along the lines of the ritual Array.

"Who cares about all that? Let's go," Shore urged.

He'd thought the Blood Robe Priest was a Mage, but the items it dropped could only be used by Faith Stream players.

Li Miao temporarily set aside his doubts. After recovering his status, he advanced with Shore.

Before long, the pair, advancing through the downpour, arrived in front of the Lord's Fortress.

Looking at the half-lowered iron gate, the two cautiously observed their surroundings.

"No mobs around here? Something feels off," Shore said suspiciously.

Behind the iron gate was an empty courtyard, with no trace of any monsters.

Li Miao also felt something was wrong, but since no monsters had appeared, they could only continue forward.

"Let's keep going. I'll take the lead. You watch my back."

Li Miao took out his Law Knight's Shield, still maintaining the tall form of a Law Knight, which made his damage-soaking ability very strong.

Shore nodded, and the two stepped past the iron gate.

Behind the iron gate was a short passage that blocked the view of either side of the courtyard.

In the middle of the passage, there was a small door on the left and right, seemingly leading to the fortress ramparts.

After exchanging a nod, Li Miao kicked open one of the doors and found that it was indeed possible to enter.

However, his physique didn't seem to permit it.

Li Miao bent down to try and found that the passage behind the door had stairs. It would be extremely difficult for him to squeeze through with his current size.

This was where the downside of his large size became apparent.

"Why don't you go in and take a look?"

Reverting to his original size would consume a lot of Physical Strength, so he made the suggestion.

Shore nodded, and without a word, went straight inside.

A moment later, the other door behind Li Miao creaked open, and Shore walked out.

He shook his head at Li Miao, indicating there were no monsters up on the Lord's main gate.

'This can't be right. Not even a single trash mob?'

Puzzled, the two could only press on.

After entering the courtyard, the pair saw the general layout of the fortress.

Most of the fortress's buildings were connected, sealed off from the outer perimeter.

Directly ahead in the courtyard was the tallest main building of the fortress, and there seemed to be some other smaller buildings behind it.

To the sides were other, secondary buildings, but they couldn't compare to the main fortress ahead in either scale or intricacy. They looked like living quarters for the Lord's servants or Soldiers.

The two of them immediately began a sweeping search, heading to the area on the left first.

This time, they finally ran into some groups of monsters.

But these monsters, called [Lord's Servants], were even weaker than the Beach Fishman on Candle Island.

This posed no difficulty for the pair, and they dealt with them with ease.

Afterward, the surrounding fortress houses were empty, with no other monsters present.

Seeing this, the two quickly changed direction and headed to the right side of the courtyard.

This side was even stranger. There were only livestock-type monsters like cows and sheep, which Li Miao could kill just by ramming into them without a Weapon.

"How strange..."

After scouring every inch of the area, the two returned to the center of the courtyard, feeling utterly bewildered.

'Something's wrong!'

'Going by the usual tropes in other games, a courtyard this large, even if it has no real content, should at least be filled with tons of trash mobs.'

But now, all they had found in this massive courtyard were a few scattered stragglers.

...And the Milestone Spirit Candle under the decorative tree in the center of the courtyard.

"Well, let's just head straight into the fortress."

"I wonder if this is it after we clear this fortress."

Shore shrugged. They had explored almost the entire outer area of the fortress, with only the largest structure ahead of them left.

"I bet they're saving something big for us in the fortress hall."

"Be careful."

Li Miao said with certainty.

"Less talk, more tanking. Get up front and soak some damage for your old man," Shore urged.

CREAK...

Pushing open the heavy fortress doors, they were greeted by the sight of a dimly lit and spacious Lord's hall.

A large oil painting of a nobleman hung high in the center.

Below this painting was a hairy humanoid creature, flanked by two hounds with withered bodies but still-rippling muscles.

"GRRR..."

Seeing the intruders, the two hounds quickly rose, their eyes gleaming viciously. They bared their fangs and let out a low, warning growl.

The ears of the humanoid creature kneeling beneath the large oil painting twitched as if it sensed something. It slowly stood up, Sharp Claws extending from its fingertips.

[Gray Wolf Attendant]

[Tier: Embers]

[Level: 13]

[Explanation: A Warrior with the characteristics of a gray wolf, it guards the Lord's hall.]

[Guard Hunting Hound]

[Tier: Residual Ash]

[Level: 9]

[Explanation: A hound that guards the Lord's home and courtyard, it is extremely vicious.]

Looking at the three monsters before them, the two subconsciously exchanged a glance.

'That's it?'

'This is... the boss?'

For the two of them, although there were three monsters, only one was Ember Tier. The other two were just Residual Ash Tier!

Even the Mad Meatballs outside were Ember Tier!

At this level, Li Miao could finish the fight by himself in under a minute.

"Something's not right." Li Miao's expression turned serious. "Don't underestimate it. This thing might have a second phase."

Hearing this, Shore also nodded, raised his Devil Fish Tail Staff, and prepared for battle.

"AWOOO—"

With a wolf's howl, the Gray Wolf Attendant quickly pounced at the pair.

「A few dozen seconds later.」

[You have slain the Gray Wolf Attendant]

[You have slain the Guard Hunting Hound]

[You have slain the Guard Hunting Hound]

But the two didn't let their guard down. Instead, they stared intently at the corpse of the Gray Wolf Attendant.

But it wasn't until the creature had completely dissolved into Ashes that the two reacted, completely baffled.

"It just... died?"

"No way. There's no second phase?"

The two were totally confused, unable to make heads or tails of it.

As the largest building in the entire Seaside Town, was the strongest monster in this fortress really just one Werewolf and two dogs?

'Could it be... that Spirit Candle didn't finish the content for this instance?'

'Impossible! Absolutely impossible!'

"Let's search other areas."

Unwilling to give up, the two quickly headed toward the back of the hall and began to search everywhere.

However, they didn't find any more monsters. Instead, they found the Lord's study.
