Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis
Chapter 119 - 99: Fierce Battle[You have slain the Mad Fallen Knight]
[Obtained: Wax Oil x20]
[Obtained: Mad Fall Spear (Fine)]
After cleanly dispatching the Knight monster before her, Faraway withdrew her hand.
Guagua, who was behind her, was no longer surprised by this.
Throughout their journey, Faraway had often been able to handle these troublesome monsters all by herself. Guagua’s role was merely to occasionally hold the enemy in check.
To put it nicely, she was providing tactical support. To put it bluntly... she was just a tag-along.
But Guagua wasn’t the least bit upset about this. In fact, she was delighted.
’Being a tag-along is great! Not only can I follow an expert and slack off without having to lift a finger, but I also get to admire her cool, graceful form. Life is good.’
Guagua guessed that Faraway had probably just found someone to team up with, and she just happened to be the lucky one.
’Speaking of which, this Iron-faced Mage’s Fire Seed really suits Faraway Lord. It’s so elegant and cool!’
"For you." Faraway handed the Mad Fall Spear to her. Guagua liked to use long spears, and this one was a perfect fit.
"Faraway Lord, you’re the best." Guagua happily took the Long Spear. ’I get to be a tag-along and even get fed loot from time to time, hehe.’
Faraway nodded and led her onward.
They had entered through the main corridor after killing the Gray Wolf Followers. They had seen both the Blood Pool and the study, but they had chosen not to slide directly down through the opening.
As they advanced, traces of crimson began to appear in the corridor.
Before long, another crypt appeared before them.
But compared to the previous one, this crypt was very lavish. The tombstones were neatly arranged, and each was engraved with a long string of text.
[Heinze Star, Baron of the Country of Dusk Snow, Sword of the Black Flower Plain, Seventh Lord of Regga]
Aside from a long list of titles, there were also some smaller biographical notes below.
It seemed this was the crypt for the successive Lords of the Star Family.
Looking past the tombstones, there was a large, empty space reserved at the back, and even some areas that were still under construction.
It seemed they all believed they could continue to rule this land indefinitely.
What was also strange was that both the floor and the ceiling were inscribed with peculiar patterns. Statues were placed at some of the nodes, their purpose unknown.
Faraway withdrew her gaze and began to search the Lord’s crypt with Guagua.
"Faraway Lord, look! There’s something in this burial pit!" Guagua’s voice called out.
Faraway went to her side.
Before them was a burial pit, still empty of a body. It must have been reserved for the current Lord, Antonista.
And inside the coffin within the pit, a few items were placed.
Faraway jumped down into the pit, picked up the items, and examined them closely.
[Obtained: Sta Ancestor’s Warning]
[Obtained: Siren Skull]
[Obtained: Handmade Clay Sculpture (Crude)]
[Sta Ancestor’s Warning]
[Type: Letter]
[Explanation: It contains the insights and warnings of the successive Lords of the Star family, intended to help every heir of the Star Family become a qualified Lord.]
[Siren Skull]
[Type: Decoration]
[Explanation: The head of a Sea Siren that plagued the coast, taken by a valiant Lord. It is a symbol of past glory and now a burial offering.]
[Handmade Clay Sculpture (Crude)]
[Type: Accessory]
[Explanation: A handmade clay sculpture made by an innocent child. Wearing it slightly reduces damage taken. It is extremely fragile, yet it has been well protected.]
After taking the three items out of the burial pit, Faraway looked thoughtfully at the tombstone.
This was perhaps the most peculiar of all the Lords’ tombstones.
It was slightly crooked, and the epitaph on it looked like it had been scratched out.
[Anthony Stark, Baron of the Country of Dusk Snow, Blade of the Red Harbor Cage (scratched out), Sea Monster Slayer (scratched out), Eleventh Lord of Regga (scratched out)]
"I don’t know why... but I feel like this tombstone has been beaten up by someone?"
Guagua offered this strange description after much thought.
"I think I have a rough idea of what happened."
Faraway leaped out of the burial pit.
"What is it? What is it? Tell me, Faraway Lord, please," Guagua said expectantly, blinking her eyes.
"It’s just a guess." Faraway shook her head, clearly not wanting to jump to any conclusions. "We’ll verify it later. Let’s go, time to move on."
Guagua was a little disappointed to hear that, but she didn’t press the issue, obediently following Faraway toward the next area.
Unlike the last crypt, this one had only a single passage.
However, compared to the previous corridors, this one looked newly constructed. The walls were just packed earth, and there was a faint smell of blood in the air.
The further they went, the stronger the smell of blood became. Strange fungi had even started to grow on the sides of the passage.
The caps of these mushrooms were misshapen, splintered and sprawling, making them look like little people driven to madness.
Faraway crouched down, reached out, and plucked one.
[Obtained: Mad Talk Mushroom x1]
After a glance, Faraway stored it away immediately, because like fish, it needed to be appraised.
As they continued onward, a Milestone Spirit Candle appeared again on a relatively flat, downward-sloping path. Faraway took the opportunity to appraise the Mad Talk Mushroom she had just picked.
[Mad Talk Mushroom]
[Type: Consumable]
[Effect: After consumption, Spirit -1 for a period of time. Causes the user to occasionally speak nonsense. Stacks up to three times.]
