Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis
Chapter 83 - 81: The Cliff-Jumping Cheese (Part 2)With that, Niuniu pointed outside the gap. A player leaned forward for a look and saw the Open-pit Mine was right below.
"See? It’s a cliff just a couple of steps out there, with the Open-pit Mine down below. This is the perfect spot."
Niuniu had already tested it. If a monster died from a fall or in a place that was difficult to reach, its drops would appear where it had been before it fell.
So, there was no need to worry about being unable to collect the loot after the monster fell off the cliff.
"Ohh, I get it! We look for a chance to Dodge from this spot to lure the Law Knight into jumping off the cliff, right?" a player exclaimed, slamming a fist into his palm in a moment of realization.
Hearing this, Niuniu gave him a withering look. "If it were really that simple, would I have said it still needed perfecting?"
"This Law Knight is no fool. If you Dodge mid-charge, it’ll stop in its tracks and Attack the spot you Rolled to."
"In other words, after countless attempts, I’ve discovered that it’s always locked onto our position. Got it?"
A glint of Wisdom shone in Niuniu’s eyes.
"Huh? So what do we do?" a player asked, instantly confused.
’If Dodging doesn’t work, we can’t just take the hit head-on, can we?’
’Wouldn’t the Law Knight just knock us right off the cliff?’
’Maybe taking it down with us counts as a win?’
’If that’s really the case, then that’s not out of the question...’
"Hehe, the solution is simple."
Niuniu chuckled, stepped right into the gap, and said in a deep voice with his back to the others:
"Since its target is always us, we don’t Dodge."
"We just..."
"Jump!"
The words had barely left his mouth when Niuniu stood on his tiptoes and leaped backward. His body fell straight down, and with a WHOOSH, he was gone.
"AHHH—"
As a scream faded into the distance, the crowd of onlookers finally snapped out of their stupor.
"What the fuck?!"
"What’s gotten into Brother Niu? Why’d he suddenly decide to end it all?"
The two players stared at each other, dumbfounded.
But after a moment of thought, the Knight player raised a hand to interrupt them and said with conviction, "Don’t panic. Brother Niu must know what he’s doing."
"If you ask me, there must be a tree branch or something below the cliff."
"Makes sense!" The two players’ eyes lit up at his words. They hurriedly leaned in, peering over the cliff’s edge in anticipation.
And then they saw a Wandering Soul slowly float up from below...
"Ah!"
"Holy shit! A ghost!"
The players’ pupils shrank.
"It’s me!" Niuniu snapped. "I messed up just now. Dammit."
With that, he quietly went to the Spirit Candle for Resurrection and retrieved his Wax Ash from the edge of the cliff.
Messing up while teaching an exploit was incredibly embarrassing for him.
Back at the cliff’s edge, Niuniu cut the crap and told them the trick directly.
"I made a mistake just now. I didn’t grab the ledge when I jumped."
"As long as the Law Knight is charging, and we are grabbing the edge of this cliff, its attention will remain on us. It won’t slow down or stop, and it’ll fall right off."
"But before that, we need to find an opportunity to damage it. The best time is when it roars at the start of the fight. Got it?"
"That’s the basic idea. Everyone understand?"
Niuniu finished and scanned their faces.
"Oh, so that’s how it is!"
"Got it, got it!"
"I get it now!"
"Like hell I do!" one player cried out, his voice completely different from the others. He was trembling. "I’m afraid of heights!"
"Brother Niu, is there any other way?"
Hearing this, Niuniu shrugged helplessly. "Nope, no other way. You either get over your fear of heights, or you get over the Law Knight."
The Law Knight was currently the most talked-about final boss of the patch, and its difficulty was plain for all to see.
Anyone who could beat it either had skill, perseverance, or was as shameless and gutsy as Niuniu.
"..."
The player wilted upon hearing this.
"Alright, enough talk, let’s just do a demonstration. You, buddy, go to the Law Knight’s spot. When I come in, you start roaring, then charge and close the distance. Got it?"
Niuniu quickly began to arrange things, preparing to give them a live demonstration.
Soon, once everything was set up, it all went quite smoothly.
Niuniu quickly opened the gap, ran up to perform a mock slash, and then retreated to the opening.
"Charge!"
The player charged toward Niuniu, thrilled and excited.
Niuniu, however, stood perfectly still, staring straight at him.
Only when the two were nearly on top of each other did Niuniu leap backward. His hands shot out and gripped the cliff’s edge, his entire body now hanging over the abyss.
But just as he was getting excited, a sudden pain shot through his hand.
Thankfully, because he was always tempting fate, he had his pain sensitivity turned way down.
But he still couldn’t take it and yelled angrily, "You’re stepping on my hand!"
"Oh, oh, sorry, Brother Niu." The Knight player above heard him and quickly shifted his foot.
But Niuniu’s face grew even darker. "Get your other foot off!"
At that, the player gave an embarrassed smile and finally backed away.
Niuniu huffed in annoyance, activated Warfire on his arms, and with a great heave, vaulted back onto the ledge.
He dusted off his hands and said.
"See? In a situation like that, only another player would know to stop. The Law Knight wouldn’t, because its focus is always locked on us."
"Also, as long as you have even a little bit of extra Power, you won’t need to worry about losing your grip, provided you can grab the ledge."
"Oh, right. If you have the Sand Worm’s ’Concealment’ Magic, the process should be even simpler."
"All in all... it’s ve~ry~sim~ple~"
"Applause if you understood!"
Niuniu said with a smug grin.
But the other players didn’t cheer right away. Instead, they exchanged glances and then stared at him in shock. "...Brother Niu, let’s forget about whether this method is simple or not for a moment. I just want to know, how many times did you have to try this before you realized it would work?"
Hearing this, Niuniu stroked his chin. "About... a few dozen times, I guess. Not that many. After all, I was already trying things along these lines from the start."
The other players were speechless. "..."
...
He had passed the method on to them, but Niuniu felt his cheese strategy still had room for improvement.
Unfortunately, he had already killed the Law Knight in his instance after a fierce battle.
’If only I could fight it again.’
Niuniu felt a pang of regret.
Then, he walked over to the Spirit Candle and touched its Candlefire, preparing to check out the contents of the new update.
[Restore Status]
[Replenish Wax Block]
[Ignite Warfire]
[Enter Instance]
After trying the last option, [Enter Instance], Niuniu was enveloped by Gray Mist. When he reappeared, the other players were gone; he had indeed entered his original solo instance.
But after one look at the empty fortress, Niuniu quickly returned.
Next, he walked up to the Sin Furnace.
[Consume 50 Wax Oil to activate the Sin Furnace.]
Niuniu’s vision went dark.
"So, how’s it work, Brother Niu? How do you use the Sin Furnace?" an eager player asked from nearby.
Niuniu finally understood why no one was gathered around the Sin Furnace.
’So they’ve all gone off to grind for Wax Oil...’
’More Wax Oil?’
Glancing at his empty inventory, Niuniu’s face twitched. The cost pained him greatly.
He hadn’t been grinding mobs much lately and had died quite a few times, so this amount of Wax Oil was a significant expense for him.
"Fine, take it, take it!"
Suppressing the pain in his heart, Niuniu touched the Candlefire and paid the Wax Oil.
[You can now use the Sin Furnace.]
A few simple and clear game prompts followed. In summary, there were three functions: [Reforge], [Forge], and [Temper].
But Niuniu didn’t have a Weapon to reforge, nor did he have any blueprints to forge a new one, so the only function he could use was the last one, [Temper].
But to put it bluntly, it was just Enhancement.
This did ease the ache in his heart a little.
But his dissatisfaction soon returned. "I spent fifty Wax Oil and they don’t even give me a free Enhancement Stone? I still have to go grind for it myself? Fucking stingy!"
Muttering and cursing, Niuniu could only resignedly draw his sword and go grind for Wax Oil.
To be honest, he never would have imagined that he’d be worrying about Game Coins in a multiplayer game...
