[BL] Alpha, You've Got the Wrong Mate!
Chapter 395 — A Curse or A Blessing? (4)Chapter 395: 395 — A Curse or A Blessing? (4)
It was a stormy night. The sky roared, lightning flickering every few seconds as rain poured down, each droplet crashing against the ground. Soon, the Temple’s land was flooded, ponds forming at every few steps. Thankfully, the storm drains slowly let the water flow away like small rivers.
Because of the constant noise, Raniel covered his ears with the blanket. His legs were chained, and every time the thunder shrieked, he would flinch, causing the chains to make a soft clinking noise.
He hadn’t realized when a shadow made its way inside the room. It didn’t come through the window, but through the main door, which meant it had passed the strict security that awaited in front of Raniel’s quarters.
Slowly, the omega felt the thick blanket slide down his face. His breath caught in his throat. For a reason he didn’t understand, his body froze in place, as if he knew that, in this moment, the best thing to do was to keep quiet, keep his eyes closed, and pretend that he was in a deep slumber.
"Ren?" A familiar voice called.
The omega slowly parted his eyes. He never took off his blindfold, not even while asleep, in case he accidentally opened his eyes when someone came to wake him. In case he made eye contact and they lost their life.
"Ilyan?" Raniel furrowed his eyebrows, confused. "W-What are you doing here? And how did you get in?"
He looked toward the window, through which the alpha always came in. However, it was closed, rainwater slowly trickling down the glass.
The alpha grinned, gently helping the omega sit.
Raniel let him do as he pleased, not out of obligation, but out of love.
His love language had somehow become listening to and doing whatever the person he cherished told him to.
Once he was seated, Ilyan began, "I found a way. This time, I’m certain it will work!" he exclaimed, his green eyes glimmering with joy and excitement that Raniel couldn’t see.
Hearing this, Raniel lowered his head, his silver hair gently falling before his face and hiding most of it. Placing his thumb under his chin, Ilyan lifted Raniel’s face, studying him carefully.
"What? You don’t want to see me? Do you fear I am far too ugly?" he asked. There was neither anger nor joy in his tone, just something Raniel couldn’t understand.
"I-It’s not that..."
"Then?"
"I’m..." Raniel sighed, unable to continue.
Ilyan shook his head, placing gentle kisses on the omega’s cheeks, forehead, nose, and lips.
"Trust me, Ren. Everything will be alright. You’ve seen it, no? Nothing happens to me even when you look into my eyes." While he spoke, he began taking off Raniel’s blindfold.
Raniel instinctively closed his eyes, but the alpha cupped his face, whispering, "Open your eyes, my love."
And the omega listened to him, as he always did. After all, he had never had a reason not to listen to Ilyan. Slowly parting his eyelids, Raniel exposed the very thing he had always believed to be ugly, disgusting, and cursed, yet Ilyan had always called them beautiful.
Ilyan simply stared into those eyes. They were so beautiful, so unique, nothing like his own or anyone else’s. He couldn’t understand why anyone would fear them, but then he laughed quietly at himself for thinking that way. Perhaps it was his love for Raniel that nullified the power of those eyes. Or maybe it was because he possessed immense divine powers. Or perhaps, as Raniel had said, it was because they were fated mates.
However, none of that mattered right now. Ilyan wanted his lover to see the world as it truly was, rather than through vague shapes and shades of white and grey. He had never been sure of what Raniel actually saw. He had asked him before, but the answers had always been difficult to understand, and eventually, Ilyan had stopped asking after Raniel admitted that he was tired of being questioned about it and simply didn’t want to explain anymore.
Ilyan gently kissed each corner of Raniel’s eyes, and a violet light flickered across them. Then, with the help of his hands, he formed a small sphere of red light before slowly guiding it toward Raniel’s eyes.
The moment the magic entered them, Raniel felt a sudden jolt and instinctively squeezed his eyes shut. A burning sensation spread through them, and tears immediately streamed down his cheeks.
Ilyan wiped them away every once in a while, gently brushing his fingers beneath Raniel’s eyes before kissing away the remaining tears. He wasn’t sure whether his spell had worked. Was Raniel supposed to cry? Had he done something wrong?
His chest tightened as he lowered his head, certain that he had failed once again. However, this time, it felt even worse because he had hurt the person he loved.
After a while, the burning sensation finally began to fade, and Raniel slowly relaxed. He hesitated for a moment before deciding to open his eyes. After all, it wouldn’t hurt Ilyan. Nothing ever happened to him when Raniel looked at him.
The first thing Raniel noticed was a strange colour, something unlike anything he had ever seen before. It wasn’t a mere grey outline anymore. He could see every strand of Ilyan’s lavender hair, each one appearing so clear that Raniel found himself staring at them in wonder. Then, slowly, his gaze moved across Ilyan’s face, taking in his pale skin, his sharp and slightly long nose, and his coral-colored lips.
"I-Ilyan?" Raniel mumbled, staring at the stunning man before him.
Without even realizing it, more tears began rolling down his cheeks.
Ilyan immediately looked up, his green gaze meeting Raniel’s crimson ones, and his jaw dropped in awe. He didn’t need Raniel to tell him that he could see. The excitement and wonder shining in the omega’s eyes were enough to give him the answer.
For the first time, Raniel was truly seeing him.
Ilyan had finally succeeded in making his mate see properly.
"Finally! Finally!" He rejoiced, wrapping his arms around the other man, holding him close and tight.
