Chapter 12: 12: FOR REAL?

"It’s still a movie anyway. Watching a real-life documentary of dungeon raiding at your friend’s place and watching movies here—aren’t they the same?" June defended as he made his way to book a ticket to a movie.

"But this doesn’t look like a dungeon raiding documentary..." Nyx said as he watched him get two tickets to a romantic comedy movie.

"..." June stared at the ticket in his hand. "Well, it’s said that the main character is secretly a Guide or something, but it was never mentioned in any posters, synopsis, or promotions to keep it a surprise."

"..." Nyx stared at him. He clearly wasn’t buying it.

"Ay, don’t be so boring. You should watch some movies to know how real life works. So let’s go!" He insisted as he dragged him into the movie room after purchasing popcorn for the two of them. Inside, they took their seats while waiting for the movie to start.

Nyx had a neutral expression as he stared at the screen before him.

The movie began as June went through different cycles of chaos while everyone tried watching the show in peace.

While Nyx folded his arms, staring at the movie, June scoffed, critiquing each scene that popped up. "Oh come on, he’s such a red flag. Dumb that jerk."

"Oh, I knew he had another lover. Oh sweet heavens, I can’t believe my eyes."

"Huh? He also cheated on his lover? Double cheating?"

"Wait, his partner is also cheating with his brother? What the fuck?"

"I mean, he might be gay for all we care." He shook his head, eating his popcorn from time to time as he looked ahead to see the people in front staring at him.

"..." He nodded as he realized his popcorn was finished and he couldn’t go out. "I knew I should have bought the whole popcorn stand."

And while Nyx tried focusing on his textbooks, June resorted to stealing his popcorn—stretching his hands and taking from his popcorn like muscle memory.

Nyx stared at him, and he also stared. Their eyes met as June put the popcorn in his mouth, blinking. "Cash or transfer?"

The confession scene was on as everyone began getting emotional in tears at the beautiful confession unfolding before them.

Some couples even held themselves together while loving the scene.

But at that moment, June randomly snapped, "I knew that car was alive!"

They turned and stared at him, including Nyx. Someone working at the theatre walked up to him and urged him to shut up or get kicked out.

He held his lips and nodded, still stealing Nyx’s popcorn.

As the movie went further, emotional scenes began rolling out.

Everyone around began crying, sobbing hard while watching the scenes. Even Nyx had begun paying attention closely to the movie now.

But just then, everyone was shocked to hear someone burst into laughter.

Speechless, they turned only to see June laughing at the emotional scene while everyone else was bawling their eyes out.

A loud gasp escaped the audience’s mouths as everyone stared at June, speechless.

June blinked as he stared at Nyx and the others. "Oops, that was a bit loud... right?" He blinked, knowing he had just spoiled it for everyone.

And like that, they got kicked out of the movie hall.

They stood outside with a deep sigh as June shook his head. "It’s not my fault I had access to ask an insider for a spoiler ahead." He shook his head as he stared at Nyx, who didn’t seem so happy.

Even with this puppy frowning, June couldn’t help but find him cute.

"So what did we learn from this?" He asked, his tone serious now.

"Well, I guess it’s that we should always get more popcorn..." June nodded with both arms folded.

But he guessed this villain wasn’t having it. He could see the serious expression on his face, and it was easy to tell that he was mad.

"Are you for real now...?" Nyx asked. And this time his frown deepened as he stared at him. June could read through him.

"Ah..." June looked around. "Maybe we should go and get some ice cream and calm down and talk about it. Okay?"

But Nyx wasn’t playing around now. "Are you not interested in working for this, or do you just hate me?"

"Huh?" June blinked. "No, you misunderstood—I don’t hate you at all..."

"I understand that you have it all," Nyx said. "I understand that everything is easy for you to get and do. I totally respect that, and I’m happy for you on that. I also understand that you don’t like me. There’s no problem with that because no one likes me, and I don’t hope for anyone doing so either."

"But please... This is something important to me. This is something really important to me, even though it might not be for you..."

Nyx spoke emotionally. He was angry, or he was trying to be angry. But June could see the awkwardness in his tone and movement as he spoke. It was as though he was trying to pour out his frustration while also being an introvert about it.

"I was hoping that for these few days you’d at least cooperate and let us work through this. You might not get it, but it desperately means everything to me. I need this. Like... I really need it." He sighed, closing his eyes as he said, "But I guess you won’t understand, even if I begged."

Nyx said as he turned and stormed off through the exit.

Nyx Faux was soon out of sight, leaving June standing there. He blinked as he watched him leave.

He guessed he had finally made the villain mad.
