Yuki’s POV

I follow the woman in black into the house with my head down.

Apart from Seoha and the hidden guards, I’m sure Kang Taesan is the only adult in this place who doesn’t hate my guts or wants to murder me.

Her straight hair sways with her movement.

She’s wearing her long hair in a low ponytail. Her hair is dark like her younger brother’s own, and they honestly have good hair.

She opens the door of her office and steps in first.

She puts on the lights in the room, opens the door wider, and beckons for me to come in too.

"Go sit on that table" she directs me, pointing to her long brown table.

"Yes" I say quietly. My voice is still hoarse from having my windpipe half crushed, so I chose to talk in a small voice.

"I can’t believe he attacks women comfortably now. I’ll have to deal with that boy" she complains as she walks to the other side of the room.

She pulls out her medium sized first aid box, I’m not hurt, but I dare not say a word of disagreement.

She places the box next to me and holds my chin, lifting my head and turning it side to side to check for injuries.

"I’m not hurt..." I manage to say and she slaps the top of the box.

"Taesan really surrounded himself with blockheads who are exactly like him, didn’t he?" she asks.

"I really didn’t mean to cause trouble, unnie. I wasn’t expecting their visitation" I say.

"Why didn’t you call for help when he trapped you?" she asks, and most of the harshness has drained from her tone.

"I came here to protect you, unnie. If you saw your so-called protecting needing help...I’m not sure you’ll trust me" I murmur with my head down.

I really keep my head down to hide my guilt these days. Taerin lifts my chin and sighs loudly like she’s tired.

"It doesn’t count. When it comes to Taesan, even a protector needs to be protected too" she says.

"Are you sure he didn’t leave too much damage on you?" she asks and I nod, turning my head side to side to show her.

"It’s not hurting, it’s just a bit hard to talk" I say and clear my throat.

Her brows are pinched together, and I can really imagine what is going through her mind. Taesan is going to receive the scolding of his life.

"Now you have to start talking. What did you do for Taesan to kick you out?" she moves away from me and falls into her seat.

I’m sitting on her table and she’s sitting in a black leather chair with her legs crossed.

It’s a sight to see, really...

It’s wrong, but from the very first day I met her, I’ve had a teeny tiny crush on her.

She’s older than me, and she’s off-limit, very Taesan ’I’ll shoot you’ off-limit.

"I really messed up" I start and clear my throat again.

"I gathered that much, Yuki. What did you do?" she asks. Unnie is a very logical person. She’s sentimental too, but she likes order.

She’s like Taesan and Junho merged into one person and became a woman, a cold beauty with long dark hair.

"I..." with shame, I drop my shoulder and let out a breath. "I took Sooin to grandfather" I finish my sentence.

"Oh...Yuki, you idiot" she whispers.

"I know, I was really stupid and I’ll regret it till the day I die" I say.

I’m tearing up, and it’s not out of shame. It’s because Sooin is a child I really love.

The act was a selfish one. I can’t turn back the time or go back to that day to make the choice again...I can only live with the pain.

"Why did you do it?" Unnie is in front of me now. She holds up her handkerchief and I take it, dabbing it under my eyes to control the tears.

"I...he threatened my dad, and I got really scared. I didn’t think" I explain.

"My dad is all I have. I already lost the rest of my family to mafia manipulation...so I didn’t think twice" I sniffle.

"But Sooin? You shouldn’t have taken a child into the battle ground" she says softly.

"I know, Unnie. In my head...I was so sure Taesan would save her. I just knew nothing would happen to her, and I made sure to stay there and make sure she stays safe" I run out of breath.

"Breathe" Taerin unnie pats my shoulder.

"Yes" I say, breathing through the building tears.

"Since you did that to him...why are you here, Yuki? Why did you come to protect me?" Taerin asks and I shake my head.

"The guilt is killing. I don’t want to lose the family...this is all I have. But unfortunately, I’m irredeemable" I say the words that have been running my thoughts for weeks.

"Irredeemable?" the older woman asks softly.

"Yes"

"You’re not irredeemable, love. What you did is wrong, you know that now, and I know you’ll never do it again...right?" she asks and I nod.

"Never again" I agree.

"Then be brave for us. I’ll talk to Taesan and I know he’ll listen to me" she says, taking the handkerchief from me and wiping my tears off for me.

"Thank you, unnie. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you"

"I would have killed you on the spot if you told me earlier" she says with a smile that shows off her charming bunny teeth.

Unnie is cute and cool at the same time.

"I will see you later" I say softly and get off the table.

"Where are you going?"

"I’m going to sleep in the kids’ treehouse, I’m sure our guests would have taken my room" I laugh awkwardly.

"Then you’ll sleep with me" she says.

"S-s-sleep with you?" I stutter, turning red as she slowly turns around to look at me.

"Sleep on my bed with me, Yuki. On my bed, with me" she explains like I’m a child and I puff my cheeks in embarrassment.

Tomorrow morning, I’ll face the mountain tiger, Kang Taesan, again.

I hope he doesn’t try to chokeslam me again.
