[=BLACK ONLINE FORUM=]
[GrizzlyBear00: What an insane guy this Izan is. Is he nuts? There is no way that players can compete against hackers!]
[ILoveFood: Black Online Company can’t really do anything to the hackers? They created this amazing game that is as real as reality itself, but this is too hard for them????]
[ChrisLittle: Black Online is doomed. There is no player crazy enough to go hunt the hackers, no matter how sweet the reward is]
[IronicPlayer: Hackers might not be immortal, but damaging them is as hard as touching the sky]
[GodByNature: I will not touch the game until the Black Online Company has solved the hacker problem! I refuse to support a game that allows hackers to ruin the experience for everyone!]
Millions of players flocked to Black Online Forums to voice their complaints, and hate thread after hate thread was formed.
It forced the Black Online Forum moderators to close the forums for a few hours because the traffic was too much for the website.
But.
Every player had the same thought—it was impossible to go against hackers.
And at the same time.
In all its quietness, a trailer for the new game called "Rain Online" was released on the Lagless website.
It was more of a teaser actually.
It just showed glimpses of what the game would be, and in the description, it was written that it was going to be as realistic as Black Online.
That teaser trailer was slowly making rounds on the Internet and was gaining more and more traction.
With Black Online most likely doomed, the players needed somewhere to go, and Rain Online seemed like a good choice.
The players were excited about having another game just like Black Online after all these years.
...
16th floor, Shadow District, Player Bar.
"...I don’t know what I should do, man. I am thinking of quitting the game temporarily until those hackers are dealt with."
A rose-haired man said.
"Man, isn’t your work here? You have that fishing equipment store, don’t you? You can’t just go and leave."
His friend said.
Many players had actual jobs inside the Black Online that helped them to make a living, so they couldn’t just go and stop playing.
That’s why the hackers affected them the most.
"I also don’t want to die. If I die and have to make a new character, it’ll take me months to get back here, and that’s a few months of no work.
"My store might also be taken away from me during that time if I am not using it, and not to mention, even if I die, there are still those hackers.
"I might encounter hackers again and again and die and die, having to buy more and more of these goddamn expensive game cards!"
The rose-haired man grabbed his head and screamed in frustration.
"We just have to... hope that the players will actually kill the hackers. The hackers is currently doing whatever they wish because no one is stopping them.
"We only need one player to show them all that they are not immortal. That they can be killed. That’ll make them fearful."
His friend said.
"Haha, but who? These hackers cannot be killed by anyone. I’ll need to talk with my wife about what to do next.
"I might have to get some part-time job in the real world while all of this is going on."
The rose-haired man said.
In the bar, there were many players gathered, drinking their sorrows away, and they were all having the same stressful conversations about their life.
Most of their lives revolved around Black Online, and these hackers were about to ruin their lives by doing this.
’Just one player needs to show these arrogant hackers that they can be killed. Please, somebody, just kill one of them!’
...
38th floor.
A dead empty campsite.
The campfire still had a little flicker of flame left, but the tents were all ripped to shreds, and there was no sign of any living creature nearby.
The ground showed some signs of struggle. Broken weapons scattered here and there. There was a fight here.
In the near woods.
"...Argh... argh..."
A player, missing both of his legs, clawed at the ground with his fingers, trying to crawl forward desperately.
He had just witnessed most of his friends dying horribly, whom he’d been friends with since the first floor.
They had fought side-by-side all the way to the 38th floor for several years, and they were closer than any real friend group would be.
"No..."
The player whispered with tears falling from his eyes, and he reached his hand forward, but then a boot landed on his hand.
"Ugh!"
The player looked at the boot holding down his hand, and then he looked up at the grinning man with tears in his eyes.
"Why..."
"It’s just a game, kid. Go get a real life."
Hacker Paul said with a smirk, and then he looked into the distance, and with his wallhacks activated, he could see someone running away.
"One of your friends is still alive. Poor soul thinks that she can run away from me. Nobody will escape my sights."
"L-Leave her... alone!"
The player pulled out a dagger with his left hand and tried stabbing the hacker in the leg, but the dagger’s blade just bounced off.
"Ah?!"
The player couldn’t believe his eyes.
"I’ve hacked for myself the best available armor. Your measly dagger couldn’t possibly stab through it."
Hacker Paul said with a smirk.
He pulled up his pants leg to reveal gleaming silver armor that covered his entire leg.
"...I hate you."
The player said angrily.
"You will thank me in the future."
Hacker Paul said with a smile and then cut off the player’s head and watched him poof into pixels.
"And now..."
He looked towards the girl that was running away, and with a cold smile, he activated his teleporting hack.
"Coming for you..."
...
"Huff! Huff! Huff!"
A scared-looking girl ran down through the woods, heart pounding in her chest.
Her eyes were red and puffy as she had just been crying after witnessing her friends dying in front of her.
They weren’t actually dead, but it still hurt her, as it really felt like they were gone forever.
Her vision grew hazy. She quickly wiped the tears from her eyes. But once she moved her hand away, she saw that someone was standing before her.
"Ah!"
She quickly dodged the person and rolled on the ground for a few meters until she came to a stop.
She looked over and saw Hacker Paul, which caused her heart to drop to the bottom of her stomach.
Despair filled her.
"P-please..."
The girl pleaded.
"Hmm."
Hacker Paul looked at her—very closely—at her pretty face, sad and innocent, and at her very kissable lips.
He smirked.
"If you kiss me, I’ll let you go."
Hacker Paul said.
Hearing that, the girl gasped in a surprise, and she quickly shook her head, whispering, "I don’t want to..."
She felt like worms were crawling on her skin. She was disgusted by him. It was a disgusting thing to ask!
"Just one little kiss, and I’ll spare you. I promise. If you become my girlfriend, I will also make sure that nobody else will hurt you.
"A hacker as your protector sounds pretty nice, right?"
Hacker Paul said with a smile.
"...No, you killed my friends."
The girl said angrily.
It didn’t take long for her to reject his advances, and Hacker Paul’s smile quickly froze, replaced by anger.
"Fine then. Death it is."
Hacker Paul’s shiny sword let out a song of death, and the girl’s eyes turned wet with tears.
Crack~!
But then, a sound came from behind, and it sounded like someone stepped on a twig or something.
"Hmm?"
Hacker Paul turned around, and from the woods, he could see a person walking towards him.
In the person’s waist, a beautiful white-hilted katana with a white ribbon tied around the handle was glimmering in the sunlight.
It was indeed a beautiful sword. A famous sword. A sword that was in the possession of the strongest player alive.
"Ah..."
The girl looked up at the player in awe.
She felt immediate reverence, as he was someone that she had only seen videos and streams about.
A legendary figure of epic proportions!
"Wow, what a lucky day. I never thought I would get the chance to kill you. All of us in the Reality First group have talked about who gets to kill you.
"Killing the strongest player alive... that’s not something that just anyone gets to do."
Hacker Paul said with a smile, but even though he was smiling, there was nervousness in his eyes.
"..."
Leon stopped walking, looking coldly at the hacker, and he slowly drew his white katana from its sheath.
"Black Online is not your playground. It’s your graveyard."
...
Black Online Company.
"There is something going on the 38th floor!"
One of the employees shouted, and everyone looked, and he quickly displayed the screen on the main screen.
Everyone looked.
And as soon as they saw Leon facing one of the hackers, they stood up in a shock, and their bodies trembled with excitement.
"It’s Leon!"
"He is going after one of the hackers!"
"Will he be able to do it... If he loses this fight, there won’t be any player alive that can beat a hacker in a one-versus-one fight!"
Meanwhile, Izan sat at the back, looking at the screen with his arms crossed, and he frowned deeply.
’Players have been losing the war badly during this first week. The players have no faith that they can kill the hackers.
’This might be the moment when the players fight back.’
