"What the hell..."

Fang Raon touched his head.

It was a surreal thing to hear, but everything started to make sense, as this Virtual Reality Pod could only come from Black Online Company.

They were the lead company in Virtual Reality technology and nobody else came even close.

"Does that mean I am dying?"

Fang Raon asked.

"Those experimental Virtual Reality Pods are sending a feed of your vitals to the Black Online Company.

"They’ve been keeping close eye on your vitals ever since you got your hands on this experimental pod.

"Everybody, even Rodrigo, despite him surviving for so long, started to show symptoms of health deterioration after using the pod for an extended period of time.

"You haven’t.

"There is always a chance that your health will deteriorate much slower than others, but Izan no longer cares.

"He is tired of waiting."

Shiryuu said with a serious expression on his face.

"...Tired of waiting?"

Fang Raon asked.

"In a month’s time, Black Online Company releases a new batch of Virtual Reality Pods—they are called Virtual Reality Pod X.

"Izan will say some bullshit about how those pods will improve the response time, refresh rate, and such, but that’s all bullshit.

"Virtual Reality Pod X in reality is the same one that you have currently. You know what that means, don’t you?"

Shiryuu said.

"...Everyone will also start having powers."

Fang Raon’s eyes widened in a shock.

"That’s right. This is Izan’s ultimate goal. The world of superhumans. The age of the superhumans had arrived.

"This has been his goal ever since the creation of Black Online Company, and he is tired of waiting any longer. Your version of the pod looks extremely promising, and that’s enough for him.

"You were offline that day, and you are never offline, which only meant that you must’ve gone to Zodiac City for some reason.

"Then he went through some CCTV footage and found you there."

Shiryuu said.

"Will they take the pod away from me?"

Fang Raon asked with a frown.

"No. They have no reason to. You won’t be as special as you are in a month’s time. I can’t even imagine what the future of the world holds."

Shiryuu said with a sigh.

"...Why are you telling me all of this? You want me to stop them?"

Fang Raon asked.

"You might have abilities, but you have no power to stop them. It’s too late. I just came to tell you because you deserve to know.

"I got fired because I tried stopping Izan, trying to talk to his humanity, but he is a lost cause.

"Izan is the most brilliant man in the world. He created Black Online’s code all by himself in his basement and created the world’s most influential company with his own hands.

"However.

"He is also insane."

Shiryuu said.

"Truthfully, I don’t care that I am an experiment. I don’t care that I could’ve died as I was about to die either way.

"I am thankful to Izan for giving me this pod. It gave me a chance at proper life. I am truly thankful to him."

Fang Raon said.

Shiryuu said.

"I don’t know what will happen in the future. I know for certain that there are some people in the world that do not deserve these powers.

"They’ll be dangerous.

"Most of the world is already playing Black Online, but once the truth comes out that Black Online gives powers, everyone will flock to play the game.

"Even those who hadn’t played before.

"But I am really curious about what the government will do. I’d think that they want this technology to themselves.

"Imagine if only the government had superhumans. It would completely change the balance of power in the world."

Fang Raon said.

"I am sure the government will try to do something, but they greatly underestimate Izan. He has made thousands of different assurances that the Black Online will keep running.

"After Virtual Reality Pod X is released, Izan and a couple important members of the Black Online will disappear so that the government can’t find them."

Shiryuu said.

"Disappear where?"

Fang Raon asked.

"To Necro Region. Izan has already been in contact with their Emperor. They have offered to provide safety and protection for them there.

"In exchange, Izan will make a new game for them. Game like Black Online. Where they can in return also get powers.

"Stronger powers than Black Online can give.

"Necro Region will become even stronger than before."

Shiryuu said.

’The so-called ’Gods’ will become true Gods. I can’t imagine worse people than them having the superpowers.’

Fang Raon thought with a frown.

"There is a tracking system, and like I said before, the vital tracking system in your pod, and if you want to, I can remove them so that Black Online Company cannot spy on you anymore."

Shiryuu said.

"...Really? I’d appreciate that."

Fang Raon said.

He definitely didn’t want them to keep tracking him like before. It made him uneasy to think about how much information they could potentially have on him.

"I can make it so that only you can see your health condition. If you are worried whether you are getting worse or not."

Shiryuu said.

"Thanks."

"However, I don’t think you have anything to worry about. If you were truly getting worse, we would’ve found out by now.

"You are, after all, spending a lot of time in Black Online, and usually, the more you spend, the more your health deteriorates.

"Nothing has happened to you yet, so I don’t think anything will happen even in the future."

Shiryuu said.

They then stood up, and after entering his apartment, Raon checked that it was really empty of his girlfriends.

He peeked inside the secondary bedroom and saw Della lying inside the virtual reality pod.

"Alright, that’s it."

Fang Raon pointed at one of the Virtual Reality Pods, and Shiryuu took out his backpack and took out some tools.

"It’ll take an hour or so."

Shiryuu said, and then he opened a panel at the back of the pod and started drilling the screws loose.

Fang Raon leaned against the doorway, watching Shiryuu work on the pod, to make sure that he wasn’t trying anything funny.

However.

Even if he tried doing something, he wouldn’t be able to tell what because he really didn’t know what he was doing.

Still.

He used Read to take a read of Shiryuu’s true intentions, and everything pointed to the fact that he was just trying to help him.

There was, of course, a small chance that Shiryuu was master of Read and could trick his Read, but he doubted that was the case.

He was just an engineer and not some hidden martial arts master.

’The world will change in a month. It’s scary. But I must purchase one for both Chaewon and Della so they can defend themselves in the future.’

Fang Raon thought.

The hour passed in a blink of an eye, and Shiryuu closed the panel and wiped the sweat off his brows.

"It’s done."

"Good job. What if Izan sends some of his goons here to find out what happened to the pod?"

Fang Raon asked.

"I don’t think he will. I doubt he cares about you anymore. His mind is on the release of the Virtual Reality Pod X.

"That’s the only thing that matters to him."

Shiryuu said.

"What are you planning to do now?"

Fang Raon asked.

"I will move to a faraway village, away from all the cities, and live the rest of my life in peace and quiet.

"I will live simply and happily, tending to a small garden and enjoying the tranquility of the countryside."

Shiryuu said with a smile.

"Sounds nice."

Fang Raon said, and then shook his hand, and after short goodbyes, Shiryuu left the apartment and headed off.

He closed the door, walked back to the bedroom, and looked towards the Virtual Reality Pod with a frown.

He walked to the pod, but as soon as he was about to climb inside, he stopped himself and backed away.

’Shiryuu wants to stop the release of Virtual Reality Pod X by any mean necessary. There is only one way to do that.

’If he makes it seem like this experimental pod killed me. Then that would make Izan and the rest think that this experimental pod failed.

’Maybe he didn’t remove the tracking, after all.

’Maybe he planted a virus that will kill me.’

Fang Raon frowned.

He couldn’t tell that anything was wrong with his Read, but there was something off about Shiryuu—very off.

He walked to the back of the pod, opened the panel, and looked inside, but it was all very technical.

’I shouldn’t have let him touch the pod, but if I said no, he would’ve snuck inside when I was inside Black Online to sabotage the pod.

’Then I wouldn’t be able to do anything to stop him from killing me.

’What to do now. Not use this pod anymore?’

Fang Raon frowned, and his mind ran like a racing horse, and soon, he came to a quick conclusion.
