Blessed By A Yandere Goddess

Chapter 65: A Date In Daylight?

"Took you long enough."

Ronan said, his voice echoing through the small cave. With Anastasia doing the heavy lifting, it was time he actually started helping.

He tapped his foot, and Sebastian emerged from his shadows, conjuring a small fire in the center of the cave before disappearing again.

"Surprised you didn’t ask me to grab firewood and use a lighter."

Anastasia said, and Ronan just chuckled. He set Sarael down beside the fire as he checked the cave entrance again, seeing the sun beginning to rise on the distant horizon.

They had been wandering the forest longer than he expected.

"Please, I’m not that cruel."

Ronan replied, and Anastasia shifted her focus to Sarael.

"How’s the dress? Is it an S-Rank?"

"It’s good. It’s a gift from Ronan, so I expected nothing else."

"Is that it...? What about the numbers?"

"Not important."

"Really?"

"Well, it says it has a 500% bonus damage to dark-oriented magic. But I don’t really care about that."

Anastasia’s jaw nearly dropped at the staggering number before she simply nodded at the answer. She’d expected nothing less from her.

And she’d rather not dwell on it too much just in case she gets jealous. So she turned to Ronan instead of staring at the absurdly powerful, beautiful dress.

"Do you have a particular goal? Or are we just wandering around the forest until I eventually learn how to navigate back to civilization?"

"The second."

Anastasia sighed, drawing her legs closer to her chest, already dreading the night when they’d finally resume their exploration.

"Great... I’m definitely looking forward to it."

She grabbed a snack from her bag and tossed one to Sarael as they both rested. Ronan had made sure to pack plenty, knowing Sarael’s love for food and Anastasia’s privileged lifestyle.

Packing just enough was definitely not recommended.

"The two of you should rest; we’ll head out once night falls again."

"And you, Ronan?"

Sarael asked, a piece of beef jerky halfway into her mouth.

"I’ll keep watch, don’t worry."

"If that’s the case..."

Sarael melted into the shadow on the floor and crawled toward Ronan until she seemed to disappear inside him. Anastasia watched in complete surprise.

She hadn’t known Sarael could do that yet.

"It’s more comfortable than the rocks."

Sarael’s voice came from the shadow behind Anastasia, cast by the campfire, surprising her even more.

"Right, a goddess, huh..."

She finished her food and set up a bedroll on the floor. By now, she knew a lot about Sarael and Ronan.

It definitely helped that Sarael was absurdly talkative, but Anastasia was still very much out of the loop when it came to the two of them.

Whatever Sarael had told her, most of the details from Tartarus-B had definitely been omitted in favor of more important topics.

Like which page of a specific magazine Ronan’s eyes tended to linger on.

The cave fell quiet after Anastasia drifted off, her breathing steady and even against the bedroll. The campfire crackled softly, its flames casting long shadows that danced across the stone walls.

Ronan sat with his back against the cave entrance, watching the distant horizon, where the sun had fully risen.

Outside, the snowfields gleamed under daylight, blindingly bright, while the cave remained dim and cool.

Keeping watch was nothing new to Ronan by now.

"Sarael."

The shadows clinging between his skin and clothes stirred in response.

"Yes?"

"Let’s go on a date."

Ronan summoned Sebastian again, ordering him to keep watch before stepping out of the cave and into the sun’s blinding light.

It was one of the few times he had felt it since the Association started hunting him. There was no better place than the middle of a frozen desert to experience it again.

The disc on his chest vanished, but Sebastian did not. During his time training with Anastasia, Ronan had learned something important.

As long as he summoned a shadow in advance, and as long as it didn’t touch direct sunlight and remained within shadow or darkness, it wouldn’t disappear.

"W-What’s with the date all of a sudden?"

Sarael materialized, raising a hand to shield her eyes from the sun. She still wasn’t quite used to its blinding glow.

"I wanted you to experience what it feels like to be under the sun. See if you like it."

Sarael listened carefully, looking out at the snow, now practically glowing in the brightness. She lowered her hand to take in the world fully—

But after only five seconds, she covered her eyes again.

"I don’t like it..."

Disdain colored Sarael’s voice, and Ronan took note of it.

So she really was the goddess of darkness for a reason. She acted human, but this definitely confirmed she wasn’t one.

"Let’s stay under the trees’ shadows, then."

Ronan led her toward the edge of the frozen forest, where the snow-laden pines cast long, cool shadows across the ground.

The moment Sarael stepped into the shade, she let out a relieved sigh, lowering her hand from her eyes.

"That’s better."

"Figured you’d say that."

Ronan walked beside her, their boots crunching through the snow. His sank deep with every step while hers barely left a mark, more shadow than weight.

The only sounds were the occasional creak of a snow-heavy branch and the distant call of some bird Ronan couldn’t name. It was peaceful in a way the shack never had been.

"So this also counts as a date?"

Sarael said, more statement than question.

"Yeah. Walking together, talking, nothing trying to kill us. That’s pretty much the definition."

"I thought dates were supposed to have food."

"Not all the time. This is the part where we just... enjoy each other’s company."

Sarael considered it for a moment, then nodded. Her hand found his, their fingers interlacing. The dress moved with her as though it had been made for her body, which it probably had.

If anyone spotted them, it would be a jarring sight: a man covered head to toe in leather and fur walking beside a woman in a dress that revealed most of her skin.

Most would assume he was a hunter traveling with a snow elf, an undeniably beautiful one.

"Ronan, look!"

Sarael suddenly darted off, pointing toward what looked like a group of white foxes in the distance. Her voice was unexpectedly cheerful.

She never reacted this way to cats or dogs.

"She likes foxes...?"
