Aldren stopped.

The flames around Laira weren’t too fierce, but the purple-silver lightning running along her new wing kept him from stepping closer. He had seen her power firsthand in the corridor, and he knew a Red Dragon, even wounded, was not an opponent to approach carelessly.

Not to mention Ruo Yan and a Gold-rank tier 7 Necromancer puppet standing behind her.

Aldren looked at Ethan lying motionless behind the boulder, then slowly reined in his energy. The gentle smile returned to his face, but this time it no longer made anyone feel friendly.

"No need for all this tension. I don’t want to kill Ethan, and I have no intention of starting a war with the two of you. We just need to redistribute what rightfully belongs to everyone who fought through the labyrinth together."

Laira didn’t lower her flames.

"The Thunder Wings have already fused with Ethan."

"I can see that." Aldren tilted his head slightly, his gaze shifting to Ethan’s left arm. "But the process isn’t complete yet. If the core is extracted before the fusion finishes, the treasure might still be recoverable."

Laira stared straight at him, her voice dropping cold.

"If you want it, you’ll have to rip it out of Ethan’s body."

The air in the room turned heavy at once.

A few creatures from the smaller groups unconsciously exchanged glances. They wanted the treasure, but not all of them were willing to kill Ethan to get it.

Aldren noticed the hesitation. He stopped addressing Laira and turned to those behind him instead.

"Ethan discovered the Dead Path beforehand but didn’t tell anyone. He let us all leave the workshop, then secretly led his two Partners to claim the treasure. If my mark hadn’t detected the spatial fluctuation, we would never have known this place existed."

He pointed toward Ethan, his voice turning more serious.

"We fought through the spatial wind corridor together, suffered casualties together, and cleared the path to the workshop together. But when a Mythical treasure was discovered, he chose to keep it all for himself. Do you really think that’s fair?"

The words shifted the look in many people’s eyes.

Brakk stepped forward, his war axe striking the ground.

"The original agreement was that resources would be divided based on contribution. He found the treasure but deliberately hid it from us. That breaks the agreement."

Ruo Yan stood behind the Bone Shield, looking at him coldly.

"Ethan only agreed to share what was found along the path everyone traveled together. The Dead Path was opened by the three of us alone. You didn’t help, and you didn’t face any of the danger in the first stretch. What grounds do you have to demand a share?"

Brakk snorted.

"Without us, you might not have even reached the workshop."

"Without Ethan, you’d be dead in the spatial wind corridor."

Brakk’s expression darkened. His fingers tightened around the war axe handle, but he didn’t strike yet.

Aldren looked at Korr standing at the rear of the formation.

"The Stoneweaver clan also contributed along the way. Korr, how do you think this should be settled?"

Korr stepped out of the ranks. The energy core on his chest emitted a pale golden glow, but both arms hung at his sides with no intention of drawing a weapon.

"The Thunder Wings already have an owner."

Aldren narrowed his eyes slightly.

"The fusion process isn’t complete."

"Doesn’t matter." Korr looked at Ethan, then shifted his gaze to Laira’s wing. "Half the treasure has entered Ethan’s body. The other half has restructured Laira’s wing. Under the distribution rules agreed upon earlier, no one may touch items that already have an owner."

Brakk whipped around.

"Ethan hid the treasure."

Korr answered evenly. "He has no obligation to tell us every secret he sees."

"Then what about the people who died along the way?"

"They died because they failed to follow instructions or lacked the ability to survive the labyrinth. Their deaths don’t create ownership rights over every item Ethan discovers afterward."

Brakk ground his teeth but couldn’t find a rebuttal.

Aldren studied Korr for a long moment, then asked, "You’re siding with them?"

"No." Korr shook his head. "The Stoneweaver clan will not participate in any contest. But if you break the rules we agreed upon, we won’t help either."

He gestured with one hand. The eight Stoneweaver members immediately withdrew to the edge of the room, keeping their distance from both sides.

Aldren didn’t try to stop them. He had never expected Korr to be easily provoked. Stoneweavers always valued rules above immediate gain.

But the others were different.

He turned to Brakk and lowered his voice. "We don’t need to kill Ethan. We just need to separate him from the Thunder Wings before the fusion completes. After that, the treasure will be divided based on contribution."

Brakk looked at the unconscious Ethan, then at Laira’s new wing. The greed in his eyes was no longer concealed.

"Fine."

He raised his war axe.

The twelve Beastkin of the Red Fang warband immediately spread out. Four shield-bearers stepped to the front, their shields nearly half a meter thick, pressed together to form a steel wall that slowly advanced toward Laira.

Ruo Yan raised her hand, about to order the Necromancer to attack, but Laira had already stepped forward.

"Leave this to me."

She opened her new wing.

Fifteen hundred Thunder-Iron Feathers trembled in unison, ringing with the sound of metal striking metal. Laira didn’t fully understand how to control them yet, but when the four Beastkin charged forward behind their shields, the Thunder Wings reacted on their own.

Hundreds of feathers detached from the wing and assembled into three layers, forming a large metal barrier in front of her.

Brakk vaulted over the shield wall from behind. Both hands gripped his war axe, Gold-rank tier 9 energy exploded outward, and he brought it crashing straight down.

Boom!

The axe blade struck the Thunder-Iron barrier.

Purple-silver lightning erupted instantly, racing along the axe handle and flooding into Brakk’s arms. Every hair on his body stood on end, both hands charred black, and his entire body was blasted backward.

The four shield-bearing Beastkin stumbled back at the same time.

But Laira didn’t hold her ground entirely either.

The force of the blow sent her skidding nearly three meters back. The feathers forming the barrier shook violently, and several lost control, clattering down onto the stone floor.

The Solar Flame Seal on her chest flared hot.

Laira’s face paled slightly, but she immediately wrapped flames around the fallen feathers and pulled them back to her wing.

Brakk used his war axe to push himself upright. He looked at his trembling hands, his expression a mix of fury and even greater greed than before.

"Just half is already this powerful."

Aldren didn’t let him charge again.

"Fall back. She hasn’t mastered the control yet, but her frontal defense is extremely strong. Don’t try to brute-force through."

He signaled with his hand. The Elves behind him immediately fanned out to both sides, drawing bows and staves.

Ruo Yan also began to act.

The Necromancer raised its broken staff, and a black magic circle opened beneath its feet. Dozens of sword-and-shield-wielding Skeletons crawled up from the ground, quickly forming a defensive ring around the perimeter.

The three old wooden puppets took positions at the three remaining directions.

At the innermost point, the Necromancer erected a layer of Bone Shield covering Ethan.

Ruo Yan stood beside the shield, both hands directing hundreds of threads. She looked at Laira holding the front and said, "Don’t chase. Just keep them outside a thirty-meter radius."

Laira didn’t turn around.

"I know."

"You don’t usually seem like someone who knows how to pace herself."

"I also know you’re using this chance to lecture me."

"Good that you know."

The first magic arrow flew in.

Laira swatted it aside with a burst of fire. Immediately after, dozens more arrows launched from both flanks. They weren’t aimed at her but at Ruo Yan, the puppets, and the Bone Shield around Ethan.

The Skeletons raised their shields at once.

The magic arrows punched through the bone layer, destroying six Skeletons in the first volley. Ruo Yan didn’t bother counting losses and immediately directed the remaining ones to fill the gaps.

Brakk and the Beastkin charged again.

This time they didn’t concentrate on a single point. Four smaller groups spread out from different directions, forcing Laira to split her attention.

She slammed her new wing against the ground.

Several dozen Thunder-Iron Feathers shot out and embedded themselves in the stone floor in front of the Beastkin. Lightning quickly linked them together, forming an arc-shaped wall of electricity.

Two Beastkin who couldn’t stop in time were instantly blasted away.

But the feathers that left the wing destabilized the metal framework around Laira’s wound. A sharp stab of pain shot from the wing base, making her shoulder tremble.

Aldren stood behind, watching it all clearly.

"No need to defeat her. Keep your distance and drain her energy. Every time she uses the Thunder Wings, the wound takes more strain."

Laira looked at him, the killing intent in her eyes spiking instantly.

Aldren remained outside attack range, with no intention of putting himself at risk.

The Elves continued firing arrows. Magical vines crawled out of the stone floor, wrapping around the Skeletons’ legs and dragging them down. A pale green array also appeared beneath Laira’s feet, slowing down the rate at which she absorbed surrounding energy.

Ruo Yan directed a wooden puppet to sever the vines while having the Necromancer summon more Skeletons.

But there were simply too many enemies.

Every time one group fell back, another pushed forward immediately. Aldren didn’t let anyone fight to exhaustion, only continuously rotating formations to maintain pressure.

After nearly half an hour, hundreds of bone fragments covered the ground.

Laira still stood in front of Ethan, but her breathing had grown heavier. The Thunder-Iron wing no longer opened as steadily as before, and the lightning occasionally went haywire, striking the stone floor.

Ruo Yan studied the opposing formation and quickly identified Aldren’s objective.

"He’s trying to drag this out until we run dry."

Laira wiped the blood that had just seeped from the base of her wing.

"Then we just have to hold out longer than he thinks."

Aldren heard her but didn’t respond.

He raised his hand.

The Elf contingent behind him drew their bows in unison. Over thirty magic arrows arced high into the air, then changed trajectory and rained down from above.

Laira opened her wing, preparing to raise a barrier.

At that exact moment, an Elf hiding behind Brakk fired a single arrow with absolutely no light. It flew along the ground, threading between the Skeletons, heading straight for Ethan.

Ruo Yan was focused on blocking the rain of arrows from above and couldn’t react in time.

Laira only noticed it when the arrow had already passed through the cracked Bone Shield.

"Ethan!"

Her new wing suddenly trembled.

Thirty-six Thunder-Iron Feathers vanished from their positions all at once. They materialized directly in front of Ethan, assembling into a small barrier.

Clang!

The arrow struck the feathers and was destroyed by the lightning.

Laira froze.

She hadn’t given the Thunder Wings any command to protect Ethan.

One half of the treasure had sensed the resonance with the other half inside the Primordial Armor and blocked the strike on its own.

But when the arrow was destroyed, all thirty-six feathers immediately lost control. Half fell to the ground; the rest scattered wildly inside the Bone Shield.

Laira reached toward them.

The Solar Flame Seal blazed bright, pulling the feathers back to her wing. The feedback of pain turned her face paler than before, but her eyes went colder still.

She looked at the Elf who had fired the arrow.

"You just aimed at him."

The Elf retreated instinctively.

Aldren immediately ordered, "Everyone pull back."

Laira kicked off the ground.

Purple-silver lightning erupted around both legs. Her body vanished in a streak of electricity, then reappeared directly in front of the Elf.

A distance of nearly thirty meters, crossed in the blink of an eye.

The Elf only had time to widen his eyes.

Laira’s hand was already around his throat.

"I warned you."

Crimson flames surged from her palm.

The Elf didn’t even manage to scream before he was incinerated from the inside out. His body collapsed to the ground, five charred handprints still burned clearly into his neck.

Laira didn’t pursue anyone else. She immediately used a short-range teleport to return to Ethan’s side.

But the moment she reappeared, one knee buckled and hit the ground.

The Thunder Wings shook violently.

More than ten feathers fell from the wing.

Ruo Yan used Soul Threads to pull her back to her feet.

"You can’t keep using that movement."

Laira clenched her teeth and forced herself upright.

"I only need it when someone touches Ethan."

"They’ll bait you into using it on purpose."

"Then I’ll kill whoever baits me first."

Ruo Yan was about to say more, but the entire room suddenly shook.
