Chapter 194: The G4 Coalition
Trousdale Estates, Los Angeles. Saturday, 11:00 AM PST.
The concept of a Saturday morning is universally understood as a brief, fleeting reprieve from the grinding machinery of capitalism. But within the heavily fortified, climate-controlled walls of the mid-century fortress in Trousdale Estates, the weekend was not a reprieve. It was a permanent, biologically enforced state of being.
At exactly 11:00 AM, the heavy, motorized blackout drapes silently glided open.
The flawless, golden California sun spilled across the pristine white terrazzo floors, creeping methodically toward the fourteen-by-fourteen-foot espresso-colored linen megalith dominating the center of the living room.
Alex Turner lay perfectly horizontal in the exact geometric center of the down-filled arena.
His dark, obsidian eyes opened. There was no grogginess, no lingering cellular fatigue, and absolutely no desire to stretch. His [Biological Endurance: Level 3 - The Immortal Sloth] trait had aggressively metabolized the previous night’s decadent feast of imported Bluefin O-Toro, converting the rich lipids into dense, coiled kinetic energy while he remained entirely motionless.
He didn’t move. He simply stared up at the high drywall ceiling, letting out a low, resonant sigh of profound physical satisfaction.
"The structural integrity of this linen," Alex murmured lazily, his deep baritone vibrating smoothly through the cushions, "remains the single greatest architectural triumph of my existence."
Radiating outward in a heavy, invisible ten-foot sphere, the [The Sovereign’s Embrace: Level 2] trait blanketed the megalith. The Harem Council was slowly stirring from a state of absolute, hyperbaric restoration.
To his left, Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox were curled together, their breathing synchronized. To his right, Mariah Carey stretched her arms overhead, the ultra-luxury midnight-blue Loro Piana cashmere of her loungewear whispering softly against the upholstery. At his feet, Monica Bellucci lay gracefully on her side, looking as though she had just awakened from a century-long slumber in a Tuscan villa.
Courteney blinked against the sunlight, her eyes wide with a mixture of sheer disbelief and lingering awe.
"I don’t understand," Courteney whispered, pushing a strand of dark hair behind her ear. "I haven’t looked at a script in twenty-four hours. My pager is in the other room. Why isn’t my chest tightening? I should be having a rolling panic attack about Monday’s shoot schedule."
"Panic requires a hostile environment to survive, Court," Alex lectured smoothly, not turning his head. "Panic cannot breathe inside the iron curtain. The network executives have been legally mandated to absorb your anxiety for you."
Jennifer giggled, resting her chin on Alex’s broad chest. "It’s true. Gregory Hale is probably sweating through his suit right now, terrified that if we get a hangnail, Alex will buy the Warner Bros. water tower and paint it black."
"I would paint it charcoal grey. Pure black absorbs too much heat," Alex corrected flawlessly.
Before the Council could fully dissect the Slacker King’s exterior design preferences, the soft, electronic chime of the Vanguard intercom echoed from the front entryway.
Jennifer seamlessly slipped into her role as the apex gatekeeper. She slid gracefully out of the linen pit, her bare feet padding across the cool terrazzo, and pressed the talk button on the teakwood wall panel.
"Report, Thorne," Jennifer whispered, her tone dropping into a cool, impenetrable register.
"Ms. Aniston. Good morning," Elias Thorne’s crisp, ex-Secret Service baritone filtered through the speaker. "Platinum Concierge has arrived at the barricade. Julian is personally escorting the morning payload. He requested I inform the CEO that the Beluga reserves have been temporarily exhausted, but he has secured an acceptable substitute."
Alex raised a single, lazy eyebrow.
"Clear him through the courtyard, Jen," Alex commanded. "Julian’s definition of an ’acceptable substitute’ usually involves diplomatic immunity to acquire."
A few minutes later, the heavy walnut front door pivoted open.
Julian stepped across the threshold, wearing a flawless light-grey summer suit and pristine white thermal handling gloves. He carried a heavy, specialized thermal container. He walked with silent, practiced precision to the reclaimed teakwood coffee table, set the container down, offered a sharp, respectful bow to the Harem Council, and vanished back out the door.
Alex pushed himself up into a seated position with a soft groan of exertion. He walked over to the table and popped the heavy latches.
A cloud of steam rolled over the edge of the container.
Inside rested a massive, heated ceramic platter. Julian had procured a staggering culinary masterpiece: a dozen fluffy, perfectly folded French omelets, aggressively stuffed with fresh Maine lobster meat, and buried beneath a small mountain of imported, golden-brown Osetra caviar. Beside the eggs sat a crystal carafe of cold-pressed, single-origin Kona coffee.
"Osetra," Alex noted approvingly, inhaling the rich, buttery aroma of the eggs and the brine of the caviar. "It lacks the buttery finish of Beluga, but the nutty flavor profile is highly acceptable for a Saturday morning."
Monica Bellucci walked over, taking a plate. She looked at the glistening mountain of caviar and shook her head. "We are eating thousands of dollars of fish eggs for breakfast in our sweatpants. You have completely ruined normal human existence for us, Alex."
"Normal human existence is characterized by unnecessary struggle, Monica. We are optimizing," Alex replied, scooping a massive portion onto his own plate.
As the Council eagerly dug into the decadent breakfast, the heavy Motorola brick phone resting on the edge of the teakwood tray erupted into its silent, red visual strobe alert.
Alex glared at the flashing plastic device as if it had personally insulted his omelet.
"The universe," Alex sighed sufferingly, "possesses a catastrophic inability to respect my carbohydrate intake."
Jennifer plucked the phone from the tray, extended the thick black antenna, and pressed it to her ear.
"Tyrant Group, Executive Office," she answered smoothly.
"Ms. Aniston. Good morning," Richard Vance Jr.’s voice crackled through the analog connection. The corporate attorney sounded impeccably sharp, though vibrating with a manic, high-stakes adrenaline that indicated he was actively managing an apocalyptic corporate event. "I apologize for the intrusion prior to noon, but I require the CEO’s immediate directive. The entertainment industry has officially buckled."
Jennifer covered the mouthpiece. "Alex. It’s Richard. He says the industry has officially buckled."
"Put him on speaker, Jen," Alex drawled lazily, taking a bite of the lobster omelet. "I require entertainment while I chew."
Jennifer pressed the speakerphone button and set the device on the table.
"Speak, Richard," Alex commanded smoothly. "And please inform me that Harvey Weinstein hasn’t attempted to charter another drone."
"Mr. Weinstein is currently a ghost in his own city, sir," Richard chuckled, a dark, incredibly satisfied sound. "No, this anomaly is far more severe. Mr. Turner, the major conglomerates have formed a cartel."
Alex stopped chewing. His [Business Management: Level Max] trait instantly parsed the geopolitical corporate landscape.
"Corporations do not form cartels out of mutual respect, Richard," Alex murmured, his deep baritone vibrating in the quiet room. "They form cartels out of sheer, unadulterated terror. Who is in the coalition?"
"It is a ’G4’ summit, sir," Richard reported, the sound of rustling legal briefs echoing over the line. "Tommy Mottola of Sony Music. Marcus Sterling of Universal Music Group. Gregory Hale of Warner Bros. Television. And the CEO of Paramount Pictures."
Courteney Cox physically gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. The four most powerful men in global entertainment, men who ruthlessly fought each other for market share every single day, had banded together.
"They have established a joint task force," Richard continued, awe bleeding heavily into his tone. "They are hemorrhaging capital. Sony and Universal are terrified of your audio monopolies. Warner Bros. is bleeding from the syndication extortion. But Paramount is the catalyst. They are currently losing nearly a million dollars a day because Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Harrison Ford are still sitting on the grass in your indoor forest."
Alex let out a low, melodic hum of pure, predatory amusement.
"The ’Turner Doctrine’ is highly contagious," Alex noted lazily.
"It is an epidemic, Mr. CEO," Richard confirmed. "The G4 coalition contacted my office an hour ago. They are begging for a summit. They want to fly to Los Angeles and sit in a room with you. They want to establish universal ’Rules of Engagement’ for dealing with Tyrant Group LLC to stop the bleeding."
The silence inside the sun-drenched living room was absolute.
The masters of the universe were actively begging the twenty-two-year-old kid in the sweatpants to establish rules so they could survive his existence.
"They want a summit," Alex repeated, his voice dropping into a register of icy, absolute sovereignty.
"Yes, sir. Shall I book the primary conference room at my firm? I can ensure absolute security—"
"Richard," Alex interrupted softly, the [Aura of Tranquility] hardening into an impenetrable wall of sovereign peace. "I do not go to conference rooms. Conference rooms have fluorescent lighting and uncomfortable chairs. If the four most powerful men in Hollywood wish to beg for mercy, they will do it on my terms."
"I am ready for the directive, sir. Where do you want them?"
Alex leaned back against the plush linen cushions, crossing his ankles on the edge of the teakwood table.
"The Sovereign Stasis," Alex dictated flawlessly. "I am initiating the Maritime Weekend protocol. Tell the G4 coalition that the CEO of Tyrant Group LLC will grant them exactly thirty minutes of his time tomorrow at 2:00 PM. On the aft deck of the mega-yacht, in international waters."
"International waters," Richard whispered, the sheer, psychotic brilliance of the location clicking into place. "You are completely stripping them of domestic legal jurisdiction. They will have absolutely no leverage."
"They have no leverage regardless of the jurisdiction, Richard. I just prefer the ocean breeze," Alex corrected lazily. "However, there is a non-negotiable sartorial mandate."
"A mandate, sir?"
"Tell Tommy, Marcus, Gregory, and the Paramount CEO that they are boarding my vessel," Alex smiled, a slow, devastatingly arrogant smirk pulling at his features. "Which means suits, ties, and hard-soled shoes are strictly prohibited. If a single one of them attempts to board my yacht wearing a necktie, I will instruct the Captain to throw them directly into the Pacific Ocean."
A sharp, breathless laugh escaped Richard’s throat. It was the ultimate, weaponized humiliation. He was forcing billionaires to strip off their corporate armor and attend a summit in casual wear, completely shattering their psychological defenses before the negotiation even began.
"It is a masterpiece of psychological warfare, Mr. Turner. I will deliver the ultimatum immediately."
"Excellent. Unplug your switchboard, Richard. I am officially off the clock."
Jennifer hit the end button and collapsed the antenna. She looked at Alex, her blue eyes wide with a mixture of intense attraction and absolute disbelief.
"You are forcing the heads of four global conglomerates to come to your boat in t-shirts," Jennifer whispered.
"I am enforcing a dress code, Jen. Sweating in a suit is a biological tragedy," Alex reasoned, taking another bite of his Osetra omelet. "Now, please pass the sparkling water. Extorting billionaires requires premium hydration."
Soundstage 3, Oakwood Studios. 1:00 PM PST.
Thirty miles away, deep within the heavily fortified perimeter of Tyrant Group’s newly acquired studio lot, the biological revolution was operating flawlessly.
Outside the massive hangar, the perimeter was guarded by twenty-five heavily tattooed, three-hundred-pound professional wrestlers from Extreme Championship Wrestling. Paul Heyman’s makeshift private army was actively practicing powerbombs on the asphalt, ensuring that not a single studio executive or paparazzi dared to approach the corrugated steel walls.
Inside Soundstage 3, the artificial HMI daylight-simulation fixtures poured a brilliant, golden glow across the forty-thousand-square-foot expanse of Kentucky Bluegrass.
The atmosphere was a portrait of absolute, unadulterated Zen.
Tom Cruise lay flat on his back near the bubbling, closed-loop creek. His eyes were closed, his breathing slow and measured.
To his left, Brad Pitt was casually tossing a baseball straight up into the air and catching it, a look of profound, mindless contentment on his face. To his right, Harrison Ford was resting against the trunk of a massive oak tree, his trademark fedora pulled down over his eyes, snoring softly.
The heavy, STC-56 acoustic doors at the far end of the soundstage clicked open.
Paul Heyman stepped through the light-lock vestibule, carrying a massive, grease-stained cardboard box. The wrestling promoter was sweating profusely, but his eyes shone with the manic energy of a man who was actively managing the most bizarre, highly lucrative hostage situation in Hollywood history.
Heyman didn’t yell. He knew the acoustic mandates of the sanctuary. He walked softly across the grass, stopping a respectful distance from the A-list encampment.
"Gentlemen," Heyman murmured, his raspy New York accent hushed.
Tom Cruise slowly opened his eyes, looking up at the artificial sun. "Paul. The aura in here is immaculate today. I feel like my cellular structure is actually vibrating at a higher frequency."
"I love that for you, Tom. I really do," Heyman grinned, setting the heavy cardboard box down on the grass. "I come bearing gifts from the outside world. I ordered a massive spread from the best BBQ joint in the Valley. Ribs, brisket, mac and cheese. Pure, unadulterated comfort food."
Brad Pitt sat up, catching the baseball and looking at the box with genuine excitement. "Paul, you’re a legend. Craft services on my set has been trying to feed me steamed kale for three weeks."
"Steamed kale is a crime against humanity, Brad," Heyman noted, opening the box and letting the rich, smoky aroma flood the indoor forest.
Harrison Ford tipped his fedora up, sniffing the air, and let out a low rumble of approval.
As the three biggest movie stars on the planet eagerly dug into the ribs, completely ignoring their hundred-million-dollar production schedules, Heyman pulled a vibrating pager from his pocket. He checked the LCD screen.
"Well, boys," Heyman chuckled, a dark, incredibly satisfied sound. "I just got a page from Richard Vance Jr. It seems the CEOs of your respective studios are currently weeping in their boardrooms. They’ve officially begged Mr. Turner for a summit."
Tom Cruise wiped BBQ sauce from his chin, his eyes wide. "A summit? With Alex?"
"Tomorrow afternoon. On the mega-yacht," Heyman confirmed. "Alex is forcing them to come to international waters to beg for their lives."
Cruise shook his head, a slow, deeply liberated smile breaking across his face.
"The kid is a god," Cruise whispered reverently to the artificial canopy. "He broke the machine."
"He didn’t just break the machine, Tom," Brad Pitt laughed, taking a bite of brisket. "He broke the machine, bought the scrap metal, and built us a park to sleep in."
Heyman watched the A-listers feast, his heart hammering with absolute corporate ecstasy. The entire entertainment industry was completely, fundamentally paralyzed, and the Slacker King was currently taking a nap.
"Eat up, gentlemen," Heyman grinned, backing away toward the acoustic doors. "The perimeter is secure. Your studio heads are busy surrendering. Enjoy the grass."
