Chapter 84: The Silent Guardians

King Productions Promoter Office, Century City. Monday, 1:15 PM PST.

The luxurious office building in Century City typically operated with an aggressive, intimidating rhythm. Inside the headquarters of King Productions, agents and lawyers moved at high speed, managing the schedules, contracts, and cash flow of one of the most ruthless boxing promoters in the history of the sport.

However, at 1:15 PM, a logistical anomaly arrived at the receptionist’s desk.

A courier wearing a flawless grey suit, looking nothing like a standard delivery driver, stepped into the lobby. He didn’t carry a cardboard box or an expedition package. He carried a slim silver briefcase and a thick manila envelope sealed with red wax.

"Direct delivery for Don King," the courier announced with a flat, highly professional voice. "Requires the recipient’s wet signature."

Three minutes later, the manila envelope landed on the massive mahogany desk inside the promoter’s corner office.

Don King, still not fully recovered from the psychological trauma of his encounter with Alex Turner and Mike Tyson at Grizzly’s Gym the day before, stared at the envelope with profound suspicion. His gravity-defying hair looked slightly disheveled. He had just spent the morning screaming at his legal team to find a loophole to sue "The Phantom," but not a single lawyer dared to touch the entity known as Tyrant Group LLC.

With slightly trembling fingers, Don King broke the red wax seal and pulled out a stack of legal documents printed on thick watermarked paper.

At the top of the first page, the logo of a prestigious law firm was printed: Sterling, Hughes & Vance.

And right beneath it, printed in bold letters that seemed to mock him, was the client entity they represented: TYRANT GROUP LLC - Asset Management & Legal Representation Division (Representing Mr. Michael G. Tyson).

Don King stopped breathing.

His eyes darted wildly down the legal paragraphs drafted with lethal precision by Richard Vance Jr. This wasn’t a warning letter. This wasn’t a contract renegotiation offer. This was a financial execution carried out in broad daylight.

The document detailed, with terrifying mathematical accuracy, the existence of the shell company in Panama. It specified the exact percentage of Clause 4.B that had been exploited to siphon millions of dollars from Mike Tyson’s global pay-per-view revenue.

But the most devastating part was on the third page.

It was an Independent Forensic Audit Demand, which legally froze all of King Productions’ assets tied to Mike Tyson’s revenue, effective the second the document was signed for by the courier. The letter also declared immediate, unilateral contract termination on the grounds of fiduciary fraud.

"No... no, this is impossible," Don King whispered, cold sweat beginning to soak the collar of his silk shirt.

He grabbed the phone receiver on his desk, hitting the speed dial for his chief legal counsel.

"Bernie! Get into my office right now!" King roared, his voice cracking with panic.

The lawyer rushed in seconds later, seeing his deathly pale boss holding the document. Bernie took the letter, read the first two pages, and his face instantly lost all its color.

"Don," Bernie swallowed hard, his voice sounding like a man who had just been diagnosed with a terminal illness. "They froze it. Sterling, Hughes & Vance are top-tier corporate sharks. If they file a forensic audit with evidence this clear... our operating accounts will be blocked by a federal court tomorrow morning. And if they take this to the Nevada Athletic Commission..."

"Do something!" King bellowed, slamming his fist on the mahogany desk. "File a restraining order! Counter-sue them for breach of contract! Mike Tyson belongs to me!"

Bernie placed the document back on the desk with trembling hands. "Don, we can’t sue them. If we go to court, our financial ledgers will be made public. The IRS will look into that shell company in Panama. You won’t just lose Mike Tyson. You will go to prison."

A suffocating silence descended upon the luxurious office.

Don King slumped back into his massive leather chair. His illusion of infinite power, the empire he had built on exploitation and fear, had been destroyed in less than twenty-four hours.

And it all happened because he made the fatal mistake of banging on the wrong iron door, and interrupting the nap of a twenty-two-year-old young man who absolutely despised loud noises.

Trousdale Estates, Los Angeles. Tuesday, 10:00 AM PST.

The morning fog blanketing the Beverly Hills canyons had burned off, leaving a flawless blue sky arching over the mid-century fortress.

In stark contrast to the mass hysteria destroying King Productions in Century City, the atmosphere inside Alex Turner’s house was the absolute definition of heavenly tranquility.

Down the hall, inside the master suite, Alex Turner was still sleeping soundly on his Cloud-Rest mattress. The passive trait [Sanctuary Regeneration] worked with perfect cellular efficiency, restoring his dense muscles and clearing his brain of any mental fatigue.

While the Slacker King slept, the "Harem Council" had officially taken over the administrative functions of the empire.

At the massive granite kitchen island, Jennifer Aniston and Mariah Carey were enjoying their morning routine. Both wore highly relaxed, oversized clothing—Jennifer in Alex’s oversized black t-shirt, and Mariah in a comfortable grey sweatpants set.

They looked nothing like two global megastars who were currently the number one topic in every entertainment magazine in the world. They looked like two best friends enjoying a vacation.

On the granite counter, between two steaming cups of pour-over coffee, lay the heavy Motorola brick phone.

The visual red strobe light on the phone flashed silently.

Jennifer, who had mastered the art of being the flawless gatekeeper, put down her coffee cup and immediately pulled up the thick black antenna. She didn’t let the red light flash more than three times; minimizing the risk of the light reflecting off the walls and disturbing Alex’s sleep.

"Tyrant Group LLC, Jennifer speaking," she answered, her voice calm, professional, and layered with a reflection of absolute authority she borrowed from Alex.

"Ms. Aniston. Good morning," Richard Vance Jr.’s voice came through on the other end. The lawyer sounded as though he was trying to suppress the urge to jump for joy. "I apologize for calling before eleven, but this is a highly critical confirmation report."

Mariah, who was buttering a piece of toast, leaned forward, listening intently.

"Go ahead, Richard. Mr. Turner is currently in a phase of biological regeneration that must not be disturbed," Jennifer replied smoothly, glancing toward the master suite hallway.

"Of course. Please inform him that ’Operation Don King’ has been executed with a one-hundred-percent lethality rate," Richard reported, reading from his legal notes. "The forensic audit demand was received yesterday afternoon. This morning, at 9:00 AM, King Productions’ law firm officially sent a fax stating they will not contest the termination of Mr. Tyson’s contract."

Jennifer’s eyes widened slightly. She looked at Mariah and covered the phone’s mouthpiece.

"Don King surrendered," Jennifer mouthed silently to the pop star.

Mariah smiled broadly, raising her coffee cup in a silent toast to the victory.

"Excellent, Richard," Jennifer said back into the phone. "Have Mike Tyson’s assets been secured?"

"Fully secured, Ms. Aniston," Richard confirmed proudly. "All remaining funds owed to Mr. Tyson were forcibly transferred this morning into an offshore blind trust under the Tyrant Group umbrella, far beyond the reach of the IRS or any domestic seizure attempts. Mike Tyson is officially a free agent, with his net worth absolutely protected by our corporate firewall."

"Mr. Turner will be very pleased to hear he doesn’t have to deal with a screaming promoter ever again," Jennifer noted, her administrative instincts working perfectly. "Are there any other developments from Sony Music’s end?"

"Sony continues to adhere to the Joint Venture Contract to the letter," Richard affirmed. "The song Sanctuary is still holding the number one spot. And ever since MTV aired the one-take music video Mr. Turner recorded, physical album sales are projected to break distribution records this quarter. Tommy Mottola appears to have permanently waved the white flag."

"Good. Maintain the status quo, Richard. Do not initiate contact unless they move first. We operate from a passive position," Jennifer commanded, mirroring Alex’s philosophy of laziness with terrifying accuracy.

"Understood, Ms. Aniston. I will—"

"Who is operating from a passive position?" a deep, husky baritone voice echoed from the hallway threshold.

Jennifer and Mariah turned their heads in unison.

Alex Turner stood there, rubbing the back of his neck. His raven hair was messy in a perfect bedhead style. He wore grey sweatpants and radiated thick waves of [Aura of Tranquility], fresh from his cellular-restorative sleep.

"Good morning, Mr. CEO," Mariah greeted with a bright smile, taking a bite of her toast.

Jennifer smiled, speaking into the phone. "I have to hang up, Richard. The boss is awake. Have a good weekend."

She pressed the end button, folded the antenna, and placed the phone face-down on the granite counter.

"You woke up fifty minutes ahead of schedule, Alex," Jennifer noted, shifting slightly so Alex could lean against the kitchen island next to her. "Did the red light on the phone bother you?"

"It wasn’t the phone, Jen," Alex mumbled lazily. He walked slowly toward the La Marzocco espresso machine, pulled the portafilter, and began crafting his morning coffee. "It was the floor."

"The floor?" Mariah frowned, looking down at the spotless white terrazzo surface.

Alex locked the portafilter into the group head and flipped the lever. Dark golden liquid began to flow into the ceramic cup.

"My [Kinesthetic Awareness] is highly sensitive to structural anomalies," Alex explained, referring to the hidden properties of his [Boxing / Martial Arts: Level 5] trait without explicitly stating the system’s name. "Over the past twelve hours, there has been a significant increase in mass right beneath our living room. The concrete has cured."

Right as he spoke those words, a soft, incredibly polite knock came from the heavy walnut front door.

Alex took his espresso cup, sipped it slowly, and walked toward the door.

He turned the deadbolt lock and pulled the door open.

Standing on the floating concrete courtyard, holding his hardhat in his hands with an exhausted but deeply proud smile on his face, was Mike the contractor. Behind him, several workers were packing up a giant black rubber hose from the side of the yard.

"Good morning, Mr. Turner. I apologize if my arrival is too early," Mike whispered, strictly adhering to the noise rules.

"You didn’t make a sound, Mike. But you added several hundred tons of weight under my house, and it altered the local gravity," Alex let out a long sigh, leaning against the doorframe. "Is the monolithic pour complete?"

"One hundred percent complete, sir," Mike nodded, pulling a blueprint from his clipboard. "The high-density concrete mixed with acoustic dampening polymers went through its initial curing phase overnight thanks to the chemical accelerators we used. The retaining walls and the vault floor are now one solid, impenetrable concrete cube."

Alex’s obsidian eyes scanned the contractor’s face, his [Business Management: Level Max] trait instantly verifying the logistical integrity of the report.

"And the electromagnetic shielding?" Alex asked in a low voice.

"The copper mesh Faraday Cage is perfectly encased within the concrete layers, sir. Not a single digital signal, radio frequency, or electromagnetic pulse can penetrate those walls. If you take a cell phone down there, it will be completely dead," Mike promised with the conviction of an artist who had finished his magnum opus.

"Perfect. A room where cell phones die completely is a true paradise," Alex smiled faintly, a rare lazy smirk appearing.

Mike cleared his throat, pointing toward the concealed utility access door near the end of the living room hallway. "We installed the one-foot-thick solid steel blast door this morning. The biometric lock is active and calibrated to only accept your fingerprint, Mr. Turner. Would you like to inspect it before I dismiss the crew?"

Alex stared at his espresso cup. Inspecting the basement meant he had to put on shoes, walk down a ramp, and actively look at an empty room. This was a highly undesirable expenditure of calories.

However, securing the vault was the final step in establishing the absolute sovereignty of his empire.

"Fine, Mike," Alex groaned softly, as if he had just been asked to climb Mount Everest. "Let’s go look at this very expensive concrete hole."

Alex turned back toward the kitchen. "Mary. Jen. Bring your coffees. We are taking a brief tour of the subterranean storage facility."

Jennifer and Mariah exchanged a look of immense curiosity. They hopped off their barstools and followed the Slacker King and the contractor down the cool terrazzo hallway.

They passed the dark charcoal-grey acoustic tracking room, reaching the solid wood door at the end of the corridor that was usually locked. Mike opened it, revealing a gentle ramp that sloped slowly down into the darkness.

As they stepped down, the air temperature shifted noticeably. The air became cooler, incredibly dry, and smelled of fresh concrete.

At the end of the ramp, they were confronted by a matte-black steel door that looked as though it had been stolen directly from a military nuclear storage facility. Next to the door was a small biometric fingerprint scanner glass panel glowing faint green.

Alex stepped forward. He pressed his right thumb against the glass panel.

A soft electronic beep sounded, followed by the heavy hydraulic hiss and the satisfying mechanical clank of massive steel deadbolts retracting.

The two-ton door swung inward with frictionless smoothness, breaking an airtight seal.

Alex stepped inside, followed by Mariah, Jennifer, and Mike.

Automated LED floodlights embedded in the ceiling flickered on, illuminating the three-thousand-square-foot subterranean space.

It was a sight that was both impressive and intimidating. The room was entirely empty, except for rows of custom matte-black metal storage racks lining the walls. The floor was made of seamless anti-static epoxy.

But the first thing Jennifer and Mariah noticed wasn’t the visual. It was the sound. Or rather, the absolute lack of it.

Being inside a sound-dampened concrete box, wrapped in copper mesh deep beneath the Los Angeles bedrock, isolated them from every vibration of the outside world. The silence was so pure, so absolute, that it felt like a physical entity pressing against their eardrums.

"Oh my God," Mariah whispered, her voice sounding incredibly clear and isolated, as if she were speaking in a vacuum. "Alex... this isn’t just a basement. This is a survival bunker."

"This is an archival vault, Mary," Alex corrected gently, his deep voice echoing without any reverberation. He walked slowly to the center of the room, his hand still holding his espresso cup. "This is where we will store the original analog master tapes of every recording ever made by Tyrant Records. The two-inch tape of The Sanctuary Sessions will be placed on that rack."

Alex pointed to the most secure row of racks, which featured individual temperature and humidity controls.

"No corporation, no lawyer, and no promoter can touch it," Alex continued. "And most importantly, no cellular signal can reach this place."

Jennifer looked around in awe. "This is incredible, Alex. But... there are so many racks. You only have one album right now. What are you going to put in the rest of this room?"

Alex sipped his espresso, a lazy smirk forming on his lips. He turned his head toward the contractor.

"Mike. How strong are the storage racks in Zone C?" Alex asked, pointing to the back wall of the vault.

"Incredibly strong, sir," Mike answered, confused. "They are welded directly to the rebar in the walls. They can hold a static load of up to ten thousand pounds per rack."

"Good," Alex nodded in satisfaction. "Because tomorrow morning, an armored diplomatic courier will arrive at the Vanguard gates. They will be delivering four thousand eight hundred and seventy troy ounces of physical, investment-grade gold bullion straight from the vaults of the Zürcher Kantonalbank in Switzerland."

The absolute silence inside the concrete vault seemed to freeze.

Mike, Jennifer, and Mariah stared at the young man in the black t-shirt simultaneously. Their brains stopped working.

"G-gold?" Jennifer whispered, her eyes widening in disbelief. "You are moving nearly two million dollars in solid gold bars... underneath your living room?"

"Gold is not affected by inflation, Jen, and it doesn’t require batteries to maintain its value," Alex reasoned with the undeniable smoothness of logic. He turned around and walked back toward the ramp. "Besides, it’s very comforting to know that if the world up there burns down because of greedy executives, I can come down here, lock this hydraulic door, and take a nap on a pile of extremely dense gold."

The Slacker King stepped out of the concrete vault, leaving the Queen of Pop, the Queen of Television, and a highly bewildered contractor standing in the middle of a multi-million-dollar bunker, proving once again that there was no limit to how extreme he was willing to go to secure his peace.
