The Sangius Stylus continued drawing the blood from Heddeon’s body for several moments before finally pulling itself free. The body remained on the ground without moving as the Stylus hovered in the air, the dark red substance inside it slowly settling before it moved again. This time it didn’t return directly to the Codex. Instead, it moved toward the other unconscious member of Asfalon who had fallen nearby after the Boss’s attack.
Armado’s body remained where it had fallen, his Long Sword still lying close to one side while his own wounds remained visible across his body. The Stylus stopped above him before its tip pierced through his skin in the same way it had done with Heddeon. Dark red blood immediately began entering the Stylus, and the amount inside it gradually increased as it continued drawing from his body. The process didn’t take long before the Stylus finally pulled itself out again, leaving Armado’s body completely still on the ground.
It then moved toward Raison.
The member who had used his metal gauntlets to release hundreds of attacks during the battle was still lying unconscious in another part of the chamber. The Stylus reached him and repeated the same process, piercing through his skin and absorbing his blood without any hesitation. The dark red liquid continued entering the crystal-like Stylus until the process finished, and after that it finally pulled itself free for the last time.
Only then did the Sangius Stylus return toward the Codex.
It floated in front of the open Book for a brief moment before moving toward its original position. The Stylus smoothly attached itself to the Codex again, and the crimson lines beneath the dark cover moved slightly as if the Book had completed whatever it had been doing. The Codex then slowly closed itself before remaining above Atlas’s unconscious body for several more moments.
Nothing else happened during that time.
Then the Codex began moving downward.
It gradually approached Atlas’s chest before finally entering his body on its own, disappearing completely as though it had never been there. The moment it returned inside Atlas, something unusual happened to his body.
Every injury he had suffered started healing at once.
The wounds that had previously needed time for Regenerative Hide to close began disappearing much faster than they should have. The damaged areas of his skin restored themselves first, followed by the deeper injuries inside his body. His broken flesh repaired itself while the blood that had spread across the ground around him stopped coming out, and even the wounds that had remained after the Boss’s attack slowly vanished one after another.
It wasn’t the normal healing speed Atlas had already become accustomed to from Regenerative Hide.
That Trait had always repaired his body, but it still required time depending on the severity of the injuries. What was happening now was completely different. His body was recovering at a speed similar to what happened whenever the Codex increased one of his Attributes, where the changes occurred throughout his entire body almost at once and in an Instant.
Yet Atlas was still unconscious.
Because of that, he obviously couldn’t write anything into the Codex or decide to increase his Attributes himself. At the same time, the Codex had never increased his Attributes on its own before, so there was no reason to immediately conclude that it had done something similar this time either. The only thing that had changed after the Codex emerged was the blood it had absorbed from Heddeon, Armado and Raison.
Could that be the reason?
Of course, Atlas himself couldn’t ask that question because he remained unconscious, and there was no one else in the chamber capable of explaining what had actually happened. Maybe the blood of those three S-rank Individuals had been absorbed for some reason, or perhaps it had triggered some unknown reaction within the Codex after it returned into his body. There was simply no way to know while Atlas remained unconscious.
But one thing was certain, the healing taking place inside his body was not the work of Regenerative Hide alone.
His injuries were disappearing far too quickly for that.
The Codex had done something.
Whether it was because of the blood it had absorbed or because of another unknown function that Atlas had never discovered, nobody could say yet. The Codex itself gave no explanation, and Atlas remained unconscious throughout the entire process.
Several hours passed.
Slowly, the final wounds across Atlas’s body disappeared. His skin returned to its previous condition, the damaged muscles and internal injuries had already recovered, and even the exhaustion that had pushed his body to its limit after using every bit of Null had gradually settled down.
Eventually, Atlas’s fingers moved.
His eyes opened slowly after several hours of unconsciousness, and for the first few moments he simply remained lying on the ground while his mind adjusted to being awake again. He took a breath before slowly sitting up, his gaze immediately moving across the chamber around him.
The first thing he noticed was the silence; The second thing was that several people were missing.
Atlas looked toward the place where Himalton had been lying before he had lost consciousness, but there was nothing there. He then shifted his gaze toward where Alberion had fallen and found the same thing. The places where Heddeon, Armado and Raison had been lying were also empty.
His eyebrows slowly narrowed.
"What...?"
Atlas looked around the chamber again before asking in a low voice, "Where did the corpses go?"
He turned his head from one side to another, checking each corner where he remembered seeing their bodies before losing consciousness. The ground still showed traces of the battle, broken stone and damaged Roots remained around the chamber, but the bodies themselves were nowhere to be found.
Atlas then looked toward another part of the chamber.
The strange spherical object that had fallen from the Boss Monster’s core was missing as well.
He remained seated on the ground while staring at the empty area where it had previously fallen.
"...Where did everything go?"
