Brand New Life Online: Rise Of The Goddess Of Harvest
Chapter 1969: Moving To... Heaven?-----
Elayne finally decided to tell the truth about who she really was.
"I was also summoned as a Counterforce to protect the planet, forged by the consciousness of this world itself," Elayne explained. "As long as I continue growing... I will eventually become strong enough to save it!"
Her words left everyone speechless. It had been eons since the Planet’s Soul last summoned a Counterforce, and the fact that it had happened in this era was even more shocking. Yet it also made perfect sense. Many elders had waited lifetimes for this moment. They stood mesmerized, their faces alight with awe and overwhelming joy at the long-awaited good news.
"S-She’s a Counterforce?!"
"Incredible..."
"So Mother Earth has truly sent help!"
"Is that why she embodies the myth of Gaia? Incredible."
"I cannot detect any lies from her. She speaks the truth..."
The overlapping voices annoyed and stressed the Great Ancestor. She sighed, crossed her arms, and nodded.
"So you are the Counterforce. That explains much," the Great Ancestor said with a sigh. "Aside from those tasks, there is another—and it may be the most dangerous. We have detected forces from the Chaos Gate gathering inside a newly born Divine Spirit Vein. It formed from the ancient corpse of a Kami. The divinity radiating from it has created a new Spirit Realm, and they plan to invade and seize it. The resources within are vital for our clan’s continued existence and for the entire alliance. A team is being assembled to claim the realm and refine it. Someone with your level of divinity is of vital importance."
"I see... I suppose I can take that on as well," Elayne nodded. "But we have to take things slowly, okay?"
"I understand," the Great Ancestor replied with a nod. "You will not be alone. Many powerful members of our alliance will join you, forming specialized Elite Teams. We will discuss the details later. There is one more report I did not dare reveal to the others... A new drug has appeared on the black market, something the entire alliance has been struggling to contain. Additional tasks involving investigation, intelligence gathering, and the apprehension of criminals selling it have been assigned to everyone who has reached Rank 3 of Recognition in the Clan—including all of you here today."
That included everyone from Elena, Matsuo, and Maria’s teams.
"Tracking down the sellers and taking them down is among our highest priorities and..." The Great Ancestor sighed heavily. "Haaa... Yeah, it’s a lot. Japan has never faced this level of danger before..."
"I’m sorry. We’ll do everything we can," Elayne said, nodding with a kind smile. "I imagine the rest of the world is suffering greatly as well... especially with the Canvas Bleed Phenomena on top of everything else."
"Yeah," the Great Ancestor nodded. "The Holy War... I was against it, but they pushed forward anyway. It has only worsened our existing problems and added new ones. To think the Chaos Gate may be tampering with it in some twisted way, summoning what we believe to be corrupted Heroic Spirits... it makes everything even worse. But for now, that is all. Elayne, let us open the gate to heaven. As a Goddess yourself, you are welcome in the divine halls of Takamagahara."
"Really?" Elayne asked, shocked.
"Of course. By Amaterasu-sama’s invitation," the Great Ancestor replied. "Once she and the rest of the Heavenly Sun Council have properly analyzed you, a formal decision will be made."
"I can’t bring anybody with me?" Elayne asked.
"Unfortunately, no," said the Great Ancestor. "Everyone here, you are dismissed. Rest for the next few days before taking on anything else. Resume your classes as usual—there will always be more to learn and ways to grow stronger."
"Elena, go ahead for now. I’ll catch up with everyone later," Elayne said.
"Okay," Elena nodded. "Take care, Mom."
Elena walked away with her friends and Olivia, leaving Elayne and the Great Ancestor alone.
The Great Ancestor nodded and waved her fan.
"May the Gates to Heaven open!"
FLAAASH!
A radiant portal of white and gold unfolded before them. For a moment, yellow clouds filled Elayne’s vision as she gasped. Beyond the portal lay a breathtaking paradise suspended in the skies—a world of golden cloud seas and pink-blue-green heavens. Countless floating landmasses drifted through the eternal expanse, covered in cherry blossom forests and ancient pagodas.
"Wow..."
Elayne gasped, feeling the powerful breeze and the rich, flowing divine energy that saturated the realm. It was a true World of Gods, unlike anything she had ever seen.
"Come."
The Great Ancestor took her hand and guided her inside. They emerged floating high above everything. Elayne could only stare in disbelief at the magnificent sight.
"You’ve never been inside a Divine Realm before?" the ancestor asked.
"I... well," Elayne muttered, feeling a touch of shame. "Not... completely? I used to be a civilian not so long ago."
"...? Well, if you say so," the Great Ancestor sighed. "My name is Kaguya, by the way. Someone of your stature may simply call me Kaguya-san."
"Is that really fine?!" Elayne asked, nervous.
"Why wouldn’t it be? You are Gaia-sama, a far more ancient Titan of Creation than any of us," Kaguya sighed. "You walked the Era of the Gods, didn’t you?"
"Uh... Ah! Yeah..." Elayne sighed. Though she shared some of Gaia’s personality and occasionally gained fragments of her knowledge, she had no access to her memories. She simply had to pretend. "I totally was there and met... uh, Zeus and stuff."
"I see! Well, let’s continue then," Kaguya nodded. Usually stern and serious, she became remarkably kind and attentive with Elayne, whom she now regarded as an admirable superior. Her earlier doubts had vanished after learning of her grandmother’s fondness for the girl and discovering who she truly was.
The two traveled across the skies together. Their combined divinities formed powerful auras that propelled them forward, drawing them closer to a vast golden temple at the center of the heavenly expanse.
"We’re almost there! Welcome to the Grand Heavenly Sun Imperial Castle!" Kaguya announced with clear excitement.
Dozens of Kami and Buddhas waited outside the castle, each one radiating incredible divinity and majesty. Elayne suddenly felt very plain by comparison.
"We’ve been waiting for your return, Gaia-sama!"
"Please, follow us!"
"Our Great Divine Empress awaits you in her throne room!"
At long last, Elayne was finally going to meet the old benefactor she had longed to see.
Amaterasu-no-Mikoto, the Goddess of the Sun, the strongest divinity in Japan, and the living embodiment of the "Country of the Rising Sun."
