The next morning was a pain for little Mira. She woke up to the sound of a scream and the noise that came from objects falling messily and hitting the ground.

The next thing that happened was a yell for help and so many people surrounded the room little Mira was sleeping in. Mira raised her torso up the bed and used a hand to rub her eyes, still processing what that noise was when she saw people before her, all looking at her like she had done a terrible thing. It was then her eyes fell to her hands and body. Little Mira’s breath caught, her breathing halted as she talked her eyes to the dead thing before her which had now attracted flies.

"How long do we keep up with this?! That demon child has no place among us!" An adult yelled.

"Why is the tribal chief waiting before pushing her away from the tribe? Who will be next? Is it till every cub in this tribe has fallen victim of her cannibalism?!" Another one yelled.

Little Mira shivered. She had no memories of ever going hunting or even eating and she definitely had no memories of associating with a fox cub. She had no idea how one was laying dead before her with scattered chunks of flesh there.

"We want that demon away from here! Banish her away!" Another one yelled. Soon, there was a chant of all the members of the skulk, each of them repeating the same words.

It did not take long for Mira’s parents to run into the room to witness this happen. The shock. The disappointment, the strain in their eyes, the worry. . . everything all crashed before Mira’s eyesight.

Her parents tried to die the chaos out but that name had already stuck. Mira Yang, the cub eating demon of the fox clan.

The killing of cubs stopped for a while, people in the fox clan saw it as ’she stopped because we found out’ and still kept their distance while Mira was facing the punishment of her crimes. Since the case had not presented itself again, the tribal chief with the influence of Mira’s mother did not escalate the issue beyond the foxes hobbits. This was until Mira had been of age.

As the mist scenery changed, current Mira noticed something about the Mira she saw in the mist. Her fox features were gone. There were no explanations nor memories that showed why that Mira no longer had them, but it was gone.

Mira wanted to protest. She wanted to ask the shaman to dig deeper into Hye Yang’s memories even if it meant hurting Hye Yang all to find out what had happened but she held herself.

Unlike what current Mira had thought, the old Mira had not been born a defect. She was a normal beast. Somewhere along the lines, her beast qualities had vanished and Mira had no idea why. She wondered if it was because of the things Mira was accused of. She wondered if it was some kind of punishment because of her hypothetical cannibalism against the fox cubs and she also wondered if maybe her evil sister Hye Yang had something to do with that but these were all thoughts.

Mira needed to find out, maybe not today, but one way or another, these things needed to come to light.

The changed mist scenery featured the mating season of all the women in the fox tribe around Mira’s age. This was a while after Mira had developed her attachment with Mu Yang. It was one sided, of course and that part of the story was something current Mira knew so she did not mind that skip in this part of Hye Yang’s memories.

The Mira in the midst really hoped that one of her mates would be Mu Yang, she was so obsessed and in love with him that she was willing to try to win him over after they mated even though he bore no feelings for her at that moment.

No one within the fox tribe liked Mira nor wanted to be mated to her. Even though years had gone by and they were significantly older from the time those murders were pinned on her, the beast men in the fox clan detested her. Although, with time, they still treated her like a beast woman, just not one they would want to be mated with.

So to some of the beast men in the foxes hobbits, today was a dreadful day to be in the right age to mate with Mira Yang being among the beast women of age.

It was also Hye Yang’s coming of age and so many fox beast men lined up to want to be her mates. Over the years, Hye Yang had won her way into being the favourite and most loved but from her memories, it showed that she had no real interest in who she would be mated to. She just wanted to see it.

It would be a blow in her sister’s face that was for sure, and she sure would derive joy knowing that the mates her sister would have would not want to be with her openly. For Hye Yang, it was an embarrassment fest for her sister. She had easily won the hearts of everyone and she felt that she would easily be able to make Mira’s mated life insufferable without having to lift a finger.

This was when Hye Yang got the shock of her life. Her sister, Mira Yang, the dirty, stupid, dumb ass fox who still found a way to forgive her for the first time she got accused of butchering and eating a fox pup and trusted her had five mates. FIVE. She had been blessed with five. And for Hye Yang? She had none.

Not a single mate had been bestowed for her to be with. This shocked everyone present. No one had ever imagined that this would happen in the entire history of the fox tribe as it had never happened before. Because of this, Hye Yang was given the liberty to choose her mates.

Mira Yang in the mist was confused, she had never met the people she was bonded to from the ritual, she had only heard their names and just like her mates were waiting for this day too, they had spawned into the fox clan with the intention to finalise the mating and the bond.

The moment the five, handsome, beast men made their way in, the atmosphere in the ritual ground shook. Everyone knew who they were, the respected soon to be rulers of all the region that governed them. And they all belonged to one female fox, the one they had maltreated for years.

The five beast husbands came with other beast men from their clans carrying gifts of all kinds for their mate.

A memory flooded current Mira Yang’s head as she sighted the mist scenery of the beast region heirs who were now rulers and her husbands. She had the thoughts that the old owner of this body had in that moment.

Mira of the past grinned. She blushed so hard at the mates she saw. Five strikingly handsome men so different from the ones she had ever seen before in her entire life. Mira had never left the fox borders so she had never interacted with men from the outside and she was stunned that gorgeous beings like these existed. And they were all hers? And they came with gifts too! To make it even better, they were beast men from powerful families.

These men that she had never met before walked to her mother and birth father bowing and displaying respect. They snuck glances at the fox that was to be their wife and looked happy by what they saw.

Mira watched them exchange glances of pride and satisfaction and she noticed them try to contain themselves. For a second, she forgot that Mu Yang existed. She forgot all that she had gone through in the fox clan and was ready to risk it all.

This made current Mira frown. If the old owner of this body felt this way towards her husbands at the mating, then what changed? Mira asked in her mind.

This made a sickly feeling settle in Mira’s gut. As the scene changed, she already knew what she was going to see. Hye Yang did not like this and she became worse that she was before.

This was when her killings went rampant. Hye Yang did everything to destroy the love that the beast men had and ensured that they knew about Mira’s name being the demon. Since Mira was mated to the beast men, she was allowed to explore other tribes and in every place she stayed in, cubs and beast people went missing and Hye Yang ensured it always pointed at Mira. No matter where Mira went, she was hated. Cubs feared her and nobody wanted anything to do with her.

It was in that vulnerable state that Hye Yang chose to prey on Mira’s mental health and made her believe that the only beast man who wanted her was Mu Yang. Then little but surely, Mira accepted the title ’demon of the forest’ and lived by that name.

Hye Yang groaned and a painful scream tore out of her lips. "Get. . . Out. . . OF MY HEAD!!"
