Bro, I'm not an Undead!

Chapter 1788 - 1788: Abyssal Fiend

Dark shapes – children of the darkness – capable of befriending alacrity itself. They were monsters none would take lightly, not even the Gylliard.

"TORS!" the Grand General called as he snagged his Tors Lampion and pushed it ahead of himself.

BHAAA!

The lantern shone with an iridescent light so great that it banished the darkness and took on the task of hiding Skullius' body from his own eyes. Not even the [Legion Eyes] could help against this. Everything was dyed with a pulsating glare that danced between varying shades of blue – Periwinkle, cloud blue, denim blue, Prussian.

Again, Skullius couldn't comprehend it. There was some involvement of the |Greater Cosmic Law| in that light for sure, but he still couldn't understand which aspect the Tors Lampion utilized.

'But I know for sure now it can't be Litte. If it was…'

If it was, the elongated aberrations around them would likely have been eviscerated completely.

…Yet, they were still there – about the only things Skullius could see. Their figures were paler and slightly clearer now, but all the light had done was push them back. They were submerged in all its purifying, radiant glory, yet they persisted, ravenous, tenebrous, and drone-like.

What were these creatures? Skullius already had an idea, and it wasn't a pretty one.

"An Abyssal Fiend," he barely heard Gylliard say.

The Hybrid could only guess where Gylliard was as he rightly asked:

"An Abyssal Fiend?"

"That's right. One of the rarer kinds of Fiends, but among the most powerful – an amalgamation of Heide. It grows quite rapidly and can produce an unlimited number of proxies that all share the same mind and abilities. With how powerful it is now… it's almost impossible to kill."

'Abyssal Fiend…'

The name was fitting, Skullius thought. He just happened to stare into the eye of one of these creatures. He felt one thing: An infinite depth that pulled him in while simultaneously sinking into him, tasting the secrets hidden within his own depths.

The Hybrid quickly looked away.

'It amasses… Heide?' he thought before frowning.

"What about the Sectors in this part of the Breaking Chasm? How do they even fight against this thing? Are they constantly having to use your lampions?"

Gylliard didn't answer immediately. The elongated wraiths attempted to reach in with their spindly arms but were repelled by the light. More and more of them kept coming, trying to overwhelm the output of Gylliard's Tors Lampions. As more gathered – hundreds, thousands – streaking so fast that it was a mystery how one creature could possibly possess enough power to make the individual bodies keep up with Tach of this level, the absolute darkness crept in, thinning the light pouring from Gylliard's Tors Lampion at a stupendous rate.

"General!" cried Subossais from somewhere within the flaring light. "Use our Lampions!"

The other armoured figures echoed the same sentiment. They would have done it themselves if they could move.

…Gylliard disregarded them all. Instead, he answered Skullius' question.

"There are no Sectors in the Triosphere and Duosphere. The Abyssal Fiend has owned both since we settled here, and we've never managed to seize control of them." He raised his empty palm, pointing it forward. "One of our few, but crippling failures."

Everyone sensed the advent of something truly stupefying.

…But they hardly saw it. Even Skullius, with his thoughts and senses accelerated by Litte, could barely tell exactly what happened, but there were two things he noticed and would not soon forget.

An abundant outpour rushed out of Gylliard, far more overwhelming than the gushing light from the Lampion.

Eklhesh.

For a brief moment, it registered to Skullius how the proxies of the Abyssal Fiend seemed to… vanish. Or were they violently pushed away?

There was another shuttle of power expelled from the Grand General.

Conste.

…!!!

Skullius froze in shock. His feet were on solid ground, and he was an apparition no longer. The square scales inside a Tors Gate limned everything around him, his subordinates and everyone else, steam and white smoke rising from how terribly hot it was inside – a product of the Gate superheating from prompted travel.

[You have arrived at your designated location – Monosphere, Sector SEPT (A) Negative]

[TACH Protocol cooling system engaged]

[You may exit the Tors Gate]

The familiar voice of the guidance field, however slightly different. A cool sensation ran through the Tors Gate, killing the scorching temperatures at once.

"Home sweet home," said Gylliard as he clasped his Tors Lampion on his belt and marched out of the Tors Gate.

It took a herculean drive to shut off Skullius' utter shock and intrigue. Both would have bled on his face in ugly fashion. Urging his subordinates, he followed Gylliard along with the Stellars, exiting the giant travel contraption, thoughts spinning into expanding webs, greedy for information.

He couldn't stop thinking about the possibilities. Just what had Gylliard done? Did he banish the Abyssal proxies with Eklhesh and then accelerate their travel with Conste so that they reached their destination quicker than they were supposed to?

He clearly had mastery of both Eklhesh and Conste, so had he been lying before? Was he actually the one who expelled the Retucent Skullius created after all?

Skullius eyed the Grand General as he (Gylliard) was received by several armoured figures who bowed respectfully.

'Damn monster. Fitting for enemies of the Primeval Deities,' thought the Hybrid. 'If he's this strong then…'

How powerful was Thyrrga?

The first step Skullius took outside the Tors Gate stunned him. Perhaps it emphasized Thyrrga's strength, and by extension that of his subordinates even more.

The atmosphere was… angry. Air pressure, gravity, time… everything was different, far denser than even the Quadrosphere. Gravity and air pressure were at least 400 times worse here. Skullius reinforced the protection around the Troops and Stars, and even reinforced them from within to support their movements.

'They'll feel awful about this for a while, but it can't be helped,' he thought. He could already see it on their faces – how embarrassed they were because Skullius literally had to walk for them.

"Make yourselves at home. Everything – though I advise moderation – is at your disposal," said Gylliard, gesturing towards the sky in a grandiose fashion. He turned to Skullius, back to his more casual self. "What do you think of our little abode?"

Skullius could have gladly stared at Gylliard all day, far more interested in the secrets of his power, but he did appraise the new location.

Sector SEPT (A) Negative was a citadel located in the sky. More importantly, it was crested by neat formations of millions upon millions of worlds – giant, resplendent disks littering the sky. Each one was no ordinary world, Skullius surmised from a glance. Each was about as Rich as Aigas or more. That much was par for the course with Breaking Chasms; spawning natural worlds that had no ties to Deities whatsoever was one of their selling points.

"Impressive," Skullius finally replied to Gylliard.

As they left the vicinity of the Tors Gate and headed towards the pathway leading to different sections of the citadel, Skullius spotted millions upon millions of figures in the bubbly, silver armour – some boarding flying vessels, some entering the huge towers floating above him, and some using their Lampions to traverse to different points within the Sector. Most of them were armed to the teeth.

'Absurd,' thought Skullius.

"Subo," called Gylliard.

Subossais grunted and hurried to the Grand General. Again, Gylliard gave some secret order in a whisper. Subossais clicked his tongue, annoyed, but he nodded all the same. Gylliard patted his shoulder and turned to Skullius and the Stellars.

"Some of you are eager to get right to business, but I implore you, be a little patient. The proceedings will begin in due time. I will schedule an audience with Sovereign General Thyrgga for each of you, if that serves your patience better," he said.

A few of the other armoured figures with wings on the sides of their helmets marched forth towards the Stellar Heads and bowed slightly.

"In the meantime, the Warlords before you will be your escorts to any place you wish to go in and outside the Sector – except for restricted areas, of course. They'll show you to your lodgings and remedy any gripe you might have," continued Gylliard. "I trust that you will treat them with respect."

Everyone silently acknowledged, but Skullius sighed when Subossais walked up to his side. This Warlord was to be his escort, apparently. Neither of them was thrilled about the idea.

Gylliard unclasped his Lampion again, turned to Skullius, and said:

"We were rudely interrupted earlier, but all the same, I thoroughly enjoyed musing about your charm. We shall have ample time to enlighten each other in the coming days, I hope."

Before Skullius could respond, the Grand General smiled brightly, called, "TORS," and turned into a tremendously quick stream of blue that shuttled out of the Sector, heading towards a distant sun, barely hidden by the cluster of worlds beyond the eye.
