"Destroyed? What a pity…"
"Such a divine being… perhaps it should never have appeared in this world…"
"Looks like we came one step too late…"
A chorus of voices murmured among the gathered powerhouses. At that moment, the rift that had torn open the heavens slowly began to close, the pitch-black spirit clouds dispersing.
Faint moonlight poured from the firmament — night had already fallen without anyone realizing. The silvery glow bathed the devastated land below, where the charred remains of the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree stood motionless, as if all traces of life had faded from it.
At the base of the withered trunk, Liu Xi placed his hand gently upon the bark. A calm smile surfaced on his handsome face as he said softly, "Congratulations, Bodhisattva. The spirit tribulation destroyed your strength, yet it has given you a complete Divine Soul."
"Yes," came a warm and androgynous voice — not an illusion, but the genuine response of the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree itself.
Countless motes of light, like fireflies, flickered into existence and drifted toward the ruined trunk. Within it, a hazy human-shaped phantom gradually took form, its features obscured by sacred radiance, making its true visage impossible to discern.
This sight did not escape the many experts who had gathered from across the West Heaven Continent. Instantly, their faces lit up with excitement.
"Look! The divine object still lives!"
"It's gained sentience — if we can subdue it, it could become a Heavenly Sovereign protector!"
"Perhaps it even holds the key to breaking through the Heavenly Sovereign boundary!"
As they spoke, the crowd advanced in unison, though their eyes remained vigilant. Every one of them was a Sovereign expert — beings rarely seen under ordinary circumstances — now gathered together for the sake of a single divine treasure. The competition was destined to be fierce.
"Even the Old Monster Xuan Pao has come — an old Perfect Earth Sovereign powerhouse. He walks the line between righteousness and evil, acting solely by whim. To wrest the divine being from his hands won't be easy."
"And there's Old Man Lin Dong, the newly advanced Perfect Earth Sovereign — formidable strength indeed…"
"Don't forget Old Man Gui Zhen, a mid-level grandmaster of Spiritual Arrays. Once he deploys his formation, even other Perfection Earth Sovereigns would struggle to escape…"
Such names stood at the very peak of the West Heaven Continent. This gathering at the Nameless Mountain Range was destined to become a legend.
None began infighting yet — because there was still one other figure before them. Liu Xi, standing beside the divine being, was now the greatest obstacle between them and their prize.
The Old Monster Xuan Pao — that same white-haired elder with childlike features — took one glance at Liu Xi and immediately saw through his cultivation. "A High Earth Sovereign, no more," he thought. Though Liu Xi's aura was refined, the gap between them — between A High Earth Sovereign and a Perfect Earth Sovereign — was as vast as heaven and earth.
In his eyes, the youth was talented indeed, perhaps a prodigy, but ultimately still junior to him. At most, he would offer some compensation before taking what he wanted.
Smug arrogance flickered in his gaze as he stepped forward, standing proudly before the others.
"Young one," he declared coldly, "hand that divine being behind you over to this old man. I may allow you to cultivate under my guidance — with my instruction, you could reach Perfect Earth Sovereign before long."
His tone was absolute, imperious — not a suggestion, but an order.
The gathered experts exchanged amused looks, eager to see how Liu Xi would respond. None wanted to act first — better to let another test the waters.
Liu Xi turned his gaze across the crowd. Dozens of faces — some aged, some mature — filled his vision, all sharing the same glimmer of greed within their eyes.
In every world, greed was one of the original sins.
A faint smile curved his lips — one of quiet confidence. He was, after all, the last Dou Di of the Dou Qi Continent — the Azure Lotus Emperor.
Calmly, he spoke: "How about this instead — you come under my command, and I'll guide you in breaking through to Heavenly Sovereign."
"Arrogant brat!"
The Old Monster Xuan Pao's sleeve flicked sharply, his face hardening with icy disdain.
"Such insolence!"
"Relying on a divine object to reach the Upper Earth Sovereign level, and now he dares look down on us all?"
"To claim he can help others ascend to Heavenly Sovereign — absurd!"
Mockery filled the air as the crowd burst into laughter. To them, Liu Xi's words were nothing but the bravado of a youth intoxicated by his recent power.
No one across the entire West Heaven Continent had yet reached the realm of Heavenly Sovereign — and this boy dared to speak of teaching others how.
Yet Liu Xi stood unmoving before the Bodhisattva Tree, his expression calm and fearless despite facing over a hundred Earth Sovereigns.
"The Bodhisattva is mine," he said evenly. "Leave now, and you may yet keep your lives. Those unafraid of death, step forward and fight."
"Hmph! Then this old man shall teach you what it means to respect your elders!"
The Old Monster Xuan Pao's grin turned cruel as frigid mist seeped from his body. The very air froze, ice crystals forming and spreading outward with a bone-chilling cold.
The surrounding experts retreated several steps, but their eyes gleamed with excitement. A battle involving a Perfect Earth Sovereign powerhouse was a rare spectacle — especially one of such senior might.
In a blur, the Old Monster Xuan Pao stomped the ground and shot forward like lightning, leaving streaks of afterimages through the air.
Liu Xi's smile faded, replaced by a spark of fighting intent. This was to be his first true battle since arriving in the Great Thousand Worlds — and his opponent, a Perfect Earth Sovereign. Perfect. He wanted to test just how far his recovered power had come.
Spiritual Energy surged through his body like a rising tide. After replacing Dou Qi with Spiritual Energy, his strength had grown by more than a mere fraction.
In a flash, Liu Xi vanished — and the next instant, his palm collided with the Old Monster Xuan Pao's in midair.
The old monster's eyes flickered with brief surprise — Liu Xi's speed was astonishing. Still, the gap between their realms was immeasurable.
Dark Yin Spiritual Energy burst from the old monster's palm, frost condensing the very air as his strike cleaved down toward Liu Xi.
Liu Xi didn't flinch. As a former Dou Di, mere spiritual suppression from an Earth Sovereign meant nothing to him.
Azure flames erupted around his palm, twisting the surrounding space. The terrifying pressure that followed made even the old monster's face finally change.
Boom!
A shockwave exploded through the heavens, black cracks webbing across the void as the collision's ripples spread far and wide.
The ice serpents formed by Dark Yin Energy were instantly devoured by the fire dragons born from Liu Xi's azure flames. The burning force surged along the old monster's arm, invading his body like a blazing torrent.
"Argh!"
The Old Monster Xuan Pao screamed, his features twisting as he staggered backward. White vapor rose from his limbs as he struggled to dispel the invading fire. Only after a long moment did the azure glow finally fade.
When he looked back at Liu Xi, hatred burned in his eyes. "You vile brat! How dare you use such scorching Spiritual Energy to scheme against me!"
Liu Xi merely spread his hands and smiled innocently — how was he to blame for the nature of his Spiritual Energy?
