"I’m done listening."

The entire ruined crater shook violently. The Mana in the air surged like a storm finally breaking loose. Giant cracks spread further across the already devastated land, and pieces of floating rubble began to tremble and rise into the air under the immense pressure radiating from Valeria’s body.

Her crimson eyes were devoid of any emotion, cold, empty, and terrifyingly calm. Even Sage and the others standing at a distance felt an icy dread creeping up their spines as they looked at her.

Riven sensed it too. The smile on his face slowly stiffened. For the first time since this battle began, genuine danger flickered in his eyes.

Valeria raised her massive crimson sword, which hummed softly as dense blood-colored Mana coiled around it like living smoke. The air warped around the blade’s edge as if reality itself was being sliced apart.

Riven gritted his teeth and forced himself upright, clutching his cracked black sword tightly. Blood continued to drip from his wounds, but he managed a weak laugh.

"What?" he mocked through a cough of blood. "You finally lost patience?"

Valeria remained silent, taking one deliberate step forward.

BOOOOOOM!

The ground beneath her erupted instantly; her figure vanished in an instant.

Riven’s pupils constricted with fear. Fast, too fast! Even in his injured state, his instincts screamed for him to react.

CLANG!

A horrifying shockwave rippled throughout the crater as black and crimson light collided violently. Riven barely managed to block Valeria’s slash, but when their swords met, pain twisted across his features, the force behind her strike was monstrous.

CRACK!

His arm bones fractured from the impact as the ground exploded beneath him. He was sent hurtling backward like a cannonball, crashing through several ruined buildings before slamming heavily into a broken tower hundreds of meters away.

BOOOOM!

Dust and debris filled the air.

Sage narrowed his eyes slightly. "She got even faster..."

Gregor swallowed hard beside him. "No... not just faster..." His grip tightened around his sword. "She’s trying to kill him now."

Before the dust could settle, a crimson streak darted across the battlefield, Valeria had already arrived.

Riven’s expression shifted drastically; he twisted his body sideways with urgency.

SHING!

The broken tower behind him was sliced cleanly in half by Valeria’s blade, a terrifying scar etched into the ruined cityscape.

Without hesitation, Riven retaliated; black Mana exploded around him as he swung upward with all his might. "Black Crescent Fang!"

A massive black crescent slash tore forward, obliterating everything in its path.

Valeria’s crimson eyes flickered faintly as she twisted her sword to meet it.

BOOOOOOM!

The black crescent shattered instantly, unleashing a shockwave that flattened entire sections of the ruined city. Riven seized that fleeting moment to retreat rapidly, coughing up blood with each ragged breath. His condition was deteriorating, one arm lost, internal injuries rampant, broken ribs, and his mana nearly depleted.

Meanwhile, Valeria appeared eerily composed. Riven’s expression twisted into one of growing dread.

"She’s still suppressing me..." he thought, feeling his heart sink. Initially, he believed they were evenly matched in battle, but it dawned on him that Valeria had been controlling the rhythm of their fight from the very start.

The realization drained the color from his face.

Suddenly, Valeria vanished again. Riven’s instincts flared to life as he bent backward with all his might just in time.

SHING!

The crimson blade whizzed past mere inches from his throat. He twisted violently and kicked toward Valeria’s ribs.

BOOM!

The kick connected but Valeria barely budged. Riven’s eyes widened in disbelief as she swiftly grabbed his leg.

"What..." Before he could react,...

BOOOOOOM!

She slammed him into the ground with tremendous force. The impact created a crater that collapsed inward around him as he spat out a mouthful of blood. Valeria released his leg and drove her knee directly into his stomach.

BAAAANG!

The air exploded from the force of the blow; Riven’s body contorted unnaturally as blood sprayed from his mouth. Then came the sword.

SHING!

He barely managed to roll sideways in time as the crimson blade stabbed into the earth with a crack! A massive fissure tore through what remained of the city.

Riven’s demeanor shifted entirely, gone was any trace of arrogance or mocking smiles; only fear remained etched on his face.

Valeria slowly withdrew her sword from the ground, her crimson hair floating behind her like a dark halo while her blood aura thickened ominously around her form. She resembled less a human and more a terrifying executioner emerging from some nightmarish realm.

Sage watched silently from afar, feeling an oppressive weight settle over him as he observed this brutal clash.

"She’s terrifying..." he murmured quietly.

Mina nodded beside him, peeking out from behind Sage’s protective stance. "Big sis is scary..."

Nearby, even those who had once fought valiantly were now frozen in place, watching in stunned silence as this battle escalated beyond their comprehension; none dared to interfere any longer.

Meanwhile, Riven staggered backward under heavy breaths; his body trembled slightly with exhaustion and fear as Valeria advanced toward him step by deliberate step, the pressure mounting with every movement she made.

"No..." he whispered defiantly while gripping his sword tightly once more. Black mana erupted around him like an inferno. "I can’t lose here!" With an angry roar, he charged forward.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The ground trembled beneath his feet as Riven surged forward with explosive speed. In the blink of an eye, he stood before Valeria, ready to strike.

SHING! SHING! SHING!

His sword slashed wildly, fast, precise, deadly. But Valeria remained unfazed, blocking each strike with calm precision.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The sound of metal clashing echoed across the battlefield, shockwaves flattening nearby ruins.

Riven’s attacks quickened, his sword a blur of black light. Yet Valeria stayed composed, her movements minimal and efficient, no wasted energy, no hint of panic. Every dodge was flawless; every block seemed effortless.

Then suddenly, Valeria’s eyes narrowed slightly. Riven’s instincts screamed at him that something was off but it was too late.

BOOOOOOM!

Her fist connected squarely with his chest. He felt his ribs shatter instantly as blood erupted from his mouth, sending him hurtling backward into another crumbling structure that collapsed on top of him.

Silence enveloped the battlefield as dust settled around them. No one spoke. Slowly, a rumble broke the stillness, the debris shifted as Riven crawled out weakly. Blood coated nearly every inch of his body; he struggled to breathe and trembled uncontrollably. He looked utterly defeated.

Valeria approached him calmly once more. As Riven coughed up blood, he met her gaze and unexpectedly laughed, a weak chuckle that dripped with irony.

"Heh... You’ve really changed..."

Valeria halted several meters away while Riven slowly raised his head again. "But it doesn’t matter..."

His eyes darkened ominously. "The Clan will still come for you."

A heavy silence followed as he continued, "You can kill me here... but you can never escape them."

His smile twisted into something crazier. "You belong to the Clan."

Valeria’s expression turned colder at his words while Riven laughed weakly once more. "You think you won? No... You’ve only delayed the inevitable."

Sage frowned slightly as he listened; something felt terribly wrong.

Suddenly, Riven’s expression froze. His eyes widened slowly, and the smile that had graced his face vanished entirely. A strange, wet sound echoed softly across the silent battlefield.

SCHLK.

Everyone stopped in their tracks as Riven lowered his head. A pale, bony hand had pierced straight through his chest from behind. The hand was thin and shriveled, resembling a corpse that had dried out over thousands of years. Dark blood dripped slowly from its fingers, and in its grasp was Riven’s still-beating heart.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

Silence enveloped the battlefield instantly. Sage’s pupils dilated with shock. Gregor stood frozen in place, while Mina’s small face turned ashen. Even Valeria’s expression shifted for the first time, pure shock etched onto her face.

Riven’s lips quivered as blood trickled down his chin, disbelief clouding his eyes. He turned his head slowly, as if trying to catch a glimpse of what was behind him. But before he could react..

CRACK.

A bony hand crushed his heart. Riven’s body stiffened in an instant, and blood erupted from his mouth. His sword slipped from his grasp, thudding heavily against the ground.

Then, his body slowly collapsed forward. Dead. His eyes remained wide open even in death, still staring toward Valeria, frozen in disbelief.

Nobody moved. Not a single person dared to breathe loudly. The battlefield had descended into an eerie silence. Then, slowly, the owner of that hand emerged from behind Riven’s lifeless body. Only part of the figure became visible through the swirling dust and smoke.

A thin silhouette. A hunched frame.

And two unsettling glowing eyes fixed directly on everyone present. Sage felt a chill run down his spine as cold sweat trickled down his back.

His instincts screamed louder than they ever had when he faced the Abyssal Mana Leviathan. Something far more terrifying had just appeared. Deep within him, after what felt like an eternity, fear quietly began to creep back into his heart.
