Anya, her crimson armor a stark contrast against the forest green, barked orders. "Fi, keep that path clear! Lia, any routes out?"

The woman in goldenrod armor, Fia, was a blur of motion. She swung a heavy vibro-axe with brutal efficiency, clearing tangled branches and undergrowth. "Just a bit more, Ann! Almost through this thicket! This Timber-Crest’s gonna regret messing with Xylosian soil!" Her voice, though strained, held an edge of defiant energy.

The woman with the azure visor, Lyra, her movements precise even in flight, tapped frantically at a data slate integrated into her forearm. "The terrain scans show a potential ravine ahead, about two hundred meters east. It might offer cover, but it's a steep drop."

The slightest hesitation, a stumble, was all it took. The woman in the violet and peach biosuit, Seraphine, gasped, her breath coming in ragged bursts. She faltered, her slender frame trembling with exertion. "I… I can’t… Ann!"

Fia saw her teammate falter. She started to turn, her powerful gauntlets reaching out. "Pinne! Hold on!"

"Fi, keep moving!" Anya’s voice was sharp, cutting through the panic. "Don't stop! I’ll handle it!"

Fia hesitated for a split second, torn between her instinct to protect and Anya’s command. Then, with a grimace, she pushed forward, her axe clearing another thicket.

Anya, her own breath coming harder but her resolve unwavering, pulled back slightly, angling towards the struggling peach-haired Warden. The deep, earth-shaking bellows of the Timber-Crest Bull were closing in.

“GRRRRROOOOAR!”

Anya saw the Bull’s massive, antlered head crashing through the trees behind them, its eyes burning with primal rage. She reached Seraphine just as the smaller Warden stumbled again, her movements becoming more desperate.

“Ann!”

Anya grabbed Seraphine’s arm, pulling her forward with surprising strength.

“Don’t look back, Pinne! Just run! We’ll get you back to Veridia!”

She kept her gaze fixed on the clearing ahead, urging her team onward, her own fear a cold knot in her stomach.

Anya pushed Seraphine ahead, her own armored boots churning through the forest floor. The Timber-Crest Bull’s enraged bellows echoed through the trees, each one a physical blow against the ringing silence of the forest. The ground vibrated with its relentless pursuit.

"Almost there!" Anya grunted, her voice rough with effort. She could feel Seraphine’s slight frame trembling against her arm.

Ahead, Fia, her goldenrod armor flashing, swung her "Scrap Maelstrom" combat knife, a brutal shard of sharpened Titan bone, at the encroaching Bull’s flank. She was trying to buy them precious seconds.

"Lia! Give me some covering fire!" Fia yelled, her voice tight with exertion.

Lyra, already shifting her stance, raised her "Whisperwind" sniper rifle. The rifle, crafted from stabilized Rank D Titan bone, hummed faintly as she chambered a round. "On it, Fi! Arc-shot engaged!" A thin, azure glow pulsed from the rifle’s barrel. She fired, the shot a near-silent whisper that struck the Bull’s massive shoulder, momentarily staggering it.

The Timber-Crest Bull let out a bellow of pain and rage. "Ann, it's not slowing down!" Lyra reported, her voice strained as she began reloading.

Then, Anya saw it. The Bull’s massive, ironwood-like antlers began to thrum with a low, resonant hum. A deep amber light pulsed from within them, growing steadily brighter. The ground beneath Anya’s feet began to tremble, not from the Bull’s charge, but from something else.

"Seismic pulse!" Lyra shouted, her HUD no doubt flashing warnings. "It's preparing to unleash its antlers!"

Anya’s blood ran cold. She knew the Timber-Crest Bull’s signature move. It was devastating.

Fia, seeing the glowing antlers, instinctively turned, her own powerful gauntlets ready. "No way!" she yelled, charging towards the Bull, intending to intercept the blow.

"Fi, no!" Anya screamed, but it was too late.

The ground erupted. The Timber-Crest Bull slammed its glowing antlers into the earth with a force that shook the very foundations of the forest. A violent tremor ripped through the clearing, throwing trees off balance and sending a wave of concussive force outward.

Fia cried out as she was thrown off her feet, tumbling away from the impact zone. Lyra staggered, her shot going wide. Seraphine, already leaning heavily on Anya, cried out again, pressing herself against Anya’s back.

Anya reacted instinctively. She shoved Seraphine behind her, planting her feet and bringing her "Guardian's Shield," a substantial kite-shaped shield of dense Rank D Titan hide, to bear. The shield, reinforced with seismic dampening materials, felt woefully inadequate against the raw power of the pulse. The impact hit her like a physical blow, the tremor vibrating through her entire body, rattling her teeth. She gritted her jaw, her muscles screaming in protest as she braced against the onslaught, protecting her team with every fiber of her being.

Anya pushed herself up, her breath ragged. Dust motes danced in the slivers of light piercing the canopy. "Everyone alright?" she rasped, her voice hoarse.

Fia groaned, picking herself up with a wince. "Yeah, yeah, just a bit… rattled. That thing packed a punch." She flexed her gauntlets, testing them.

Lyra, ever analytical even when shaken, adjusted her goggles. "Minor structural compromises to my suit, but operational. Seraphine?"

Seraphine, still leaning against Anya, managed a weak nod. "I'm… I'm alright, Ann. Just a bit winded."

The Timber-Crest Bull, recovering from the seismic pulse, turned its massive, antlered head back towards them. Its massive body began to shift, its primal rage focusing on the humans who had dared to defy it. It lowered its head, its antlers glowing with a dangerous amber light, ready to deliver a final, crushing blow. Anya braced herself, whispering, "Here we go..."

Suddenly, a deafening, metallic roar split the air, far louder and more alien than anything they had heard before.

“SKREEE-CHAK-CHAK-CHAK!”

The sound was followed by the thunderous impact of heavy footsteps. Through the trees, a colossal, silver and cobalt machine emerged, its red-accented joints gleaming. Twin cannons mounted on its back spat fire, spitting high-velocity shells that slammed into the Timber-Crest Bull’s flank.

Fia stared, her jaw slack. "What… what is that?"

Lyra’s fingers flew across her data slate, her voice a mixture of disbelief and academic fascination. "Magnificent… the chassis structure, the component integration… it’s unlike anything cataloged."

Anya, still shielding Seraphine, could only stare. The sheer scale, the power, the alienness of it was overwhelming. "It’s… it’s not Warden tech."

Seraphine, her eyes wide, whispered, "It's… beautiful."

The Timber-Crest Bull, reeling from the unexpected barrage, let out a bellow of pain and pure fury. “GRRRRROOOOAR!” It twisted its massive body, its attention now solely fixed on the new, colossal adversary.

Anya’s training screamed at her to retreat, to use the distraction. Her instincts screamed louder.

"Everyone, fall back to the ravine! Now!"

She didn’t wait for confirmation, pushing Seraphine ahead while keeping her shield angled toward the chaos. Fia and Lyra scrambled after them, putting distance between themselves and the two titanic combatants.

They stopped at the edge of the small clearing, turning to watch.

The mechanical Allosaur—it had to be built from one—spun on a heavy foot, its tail whipping through the air as the enraged Bull thundered past.

“GRRRRROOOOAR!”

“SKREEE-CHA!”

“It’s… it’s moving like it’s alive,” Lyra breathed, her analytical tone laced with awe. “The articulation, the response time… it’s impossible.”

Fia hefted her axe, a grin spreading across her face despite their predicament. “Who cares? It’s kicking that overgrown lawn ornament’s butt! Look at it go!”

Seraphine clung to Anya’s arm, her eyes wide. “It’s so loud… but it’s saving us.”

Anya said nothing. Her gaze was fixed on the Zoid, her mind racing. A machine. A perfect, predatory machine. Is it a new breed? Why is it here? Every tactical assessment came up blank, replaced by a cold, professional dread. This changed everything.
