Chapter 22: Chapter 21: Hail Caesar
In the year MM-13, within the bounds of a church named "Heavenly Keys", thirteen year old Caesar who was wearing a white robe was scrubbing the ground of the empty halls.
While scrubbing, she recalled the faces of her parents which led her to narrow her eyes in anger and scrub harder.
Memories of her parents abuse resurfaced in her head:
*Her father beating her up with his fists.
*Her mother throwing a bowl of hot water directly aimed at Rai but Caesar rushed in to shield him with her body causing it to land on her back instead.
*Her friends walking away from Caesar with a sneer while her parents were smirking proudly.
*Her mother setting Caesar’s clothes on fire in front of her*
Each memory that replayed in Caesar’s head made Caesar scrub the ground faster and harder until Caesar finally snapped and threw the brush away with a yell.
Caesar started panting heavily before she raised her head to stare at the decorated ceilings of the church.
"You know, when you first came, I could sense you are a troubled soul." A masculine voice sounded.
Caesar turned to the direction of the voice and saw a fair skinned man with short silver hair and green eyes, wearing a scarlet robe with gold accents.
"Pastor Ponan." Caesar said softly.
"But I didn’t think you’d be this troubled." Pastor Ponan continued, "Tell me child, what seems to be the problem?"
Caesar stayed quiet for a moment and turned her face away.
"Do you believe there is anything like love or good people?" Caesar asked.
"Yes, there are." Pastor Ponan answered, "Love exists and so do good people."
"Then why does it feel like there isn’t any?" Caesar asked, "Why does it hurt when you want them so bad but you realize they are not there?"
"Because you are looking at the wrong place." Pastor Ponan answered.
The answer of the pastor made Caesar glance at him.
"You know, when you first came here, you offered to clean the church for a couple of yons but I refused." Pastor Ponan said, "I found it wrong that a child of ... Thirteen should be working for money. Not to mention child labor.
Girls your age should be studying, talking with other girls about love, writing a book or whatever the girls of your generation are doing now.
But seeing the look in your eyes... There is so much rage, pain and sadness... So much darkness, yet there was something in you desperately searching for a light.
My heart told me that you truly needed the money, so I gave some cash but you kept insisting to work here. It’s like you were trying to find some sanctity and I granted you your wish but only on certain days."
Pastor Ponan walked past Caesar, picked up the brush and knelt beside her to scrub the ground.
"Can I tell you a story of myself?" Pastor Ponan asked.
"Uh... Yes." Caesar answered.
"When I was younger, I grew up in a toxic environment. Well toxic is a merciful word for it, and growing up in it, I saw it as normal." Pastor Ponan said, "I got into many troubles. Some mild and some so dangerous that I wonder how I am still alive.
But do you know what happened to me?"
Caesar shook her head in response.
"I was saved. Both literally and metaphorically." Pastor Ponan said, "This church saved me. The ’faith’ saved me.
I was at death’s door after a terrible fight and miraculously, some of the members found me.
They attended to me. Mended my wounds. Treated me... Different from what I was used to.
There was no constant violence like I was used to. There was no belittling. Nothing.
It took time for me to get used to that but eventually, I warmed up."
"I was treated with something I never thought I needed and that was love." Pastor Ponan continued as Caesar narrowed her eyes, "The reason why I am alive today is because I met good people. Because I experienced love.
If I had continued staying in that environment, I would not have experienced any of those neither would I be alive.
So yes, love does exist and so do good people.
They have the power to heal and they give the strength to keep going even when you are at your lowest.
I know it. I felt it."
"Would you care to tell me what the problem is, child?" Pastor Ponan asked with a smile as he glanced at Caesar.
Currently within Caesar’s small house, loud noises resonated as objects were smashed and scattered all over place which turned out to be Caesar screaming as she was throwing objects on the ground.
Caesar’s face was partially bandaged and tears welled round the corners of her eyes as she was still screaming and throwing objects around in a frenzy.
Caesar halted for a moment, breathing heavily and her eyes shifted towards a knife laying in the scattered kitchen.
Caesar rushed towards the knife, picked it up and raised it above her head to drive it into her belly.
However, right before she could do that, she paused and caught sight of her family photo of her and her brothers still hanging on the wall despite the wreckage in the house.
As Caesar stared at the photo, her lips shook. Scenes of her brothers smiles replayed in her head.
"Yo, big sis!" Rai said with a smile.
"Good morning, Caesar!" Eyo said whole smiling with both eyes closed.
Caesar had another memory of her ruffling Rai’s hair and another of her helping Eyo ride a bicycle.
The final memory replayed in Caesar’s head of her sleeping on the couch while her brothers were sleeping on her laps.
After the remembrance, tears trickled down the eyes of Caesar, leading her to slump to her knees.
Caesar dropped the knife and covered her face with her palms while sobbing.
During her break down, Caesar removed her hands from her face and saw they were covered with blood.
Caesar’s vision blurred from staring at her bloodstained hands which made her remember the time a younger her knelt in front of her parents in fear while half of her face was covered in blood.
The Mizukais faces replayed in Caesar’s head but the one that lingered was Akari Mizukai.
"MESS HER UP! MESS HER UP! YOU DESERVE IT- YES YOU DO! YOU DESERVE IT- YES-YOU DO!" The audience chants replayed in Caesar’s head.
"The body is easy to break but the mind... That’s entirely different, but when broken, they’re comparable to dolls." Akari’s voice replayed in Caesar’s mind, "How long will it take before you break?
"Speedy recovery... My little ero-doll."
After the voices had finished replaying in her head, Caesar leaned her back against the wall and chuckled.
Caesar’s chuckle grew as she tilted her head back while a wicked smile curved on her mouth.
"It’s what she wanted. It’s what you wanted, isn’t it, you evil bitch?!" Caesar said, "To see me broken and be discarded. To treat me like an object for your sick pleasure! To experiment on me for your twisted curiosity!
IT’S WHAT YOU WANTED, ISN’T IT?!!"
"Of course, it is." Caesar said as she placed her left hand on her forehead, "Lord have mercy. Your family... The Mizukais... Everyone knows they are a bunch of monsters, but you Akari... You’re so sick and twisted that calling you a monster would be unfair to monsters.
You’re so evil that I’m sure the devil would have had a seat preserved for you at his side."
Caesar stood on her feet, walked towards her family photo and stared at it for a time before placing her hand on it.
"One year. They are giving you one year to prove you are worth the efforts before they step in." Balland’s voice replayed in Caesar’s head.
"One year. That’s how long I gotta wait." Caesar said to herself, "That’s how long I gotta prove myself to Balland’s friends before they can step in."
Caesar slowly closed her palm and shut her eyes.
"Over and over again. Over and over again! Just how many lives have you ruined? Just how many lives have you destroyed for your twisted arousal and curiosity, you damn pervert?!" Caesar said, "How many...?"
Caesar turned her back on the photo and titled her head down.
"Kaezan Aris. Your first EBW victim. When Balland first talked about him, I was mortified, but now I think about it, he wasn’t the only one you’ve destroyed." Caesar continued, "Before you took interest in that company, you’ve destroyed countless lives and took pleasure in it.
I can’t imagine how many neither do I want to imagine.
Now I’m next in line with your new experiment, and after me, you’re targeting a married guy? Unbelievable. Fucking unbelievable."
"Well, I hate to break it to you, you’re gonna have to wait a long time in hell cuz I ain’t breaking anytime soon!" Caesar said with a deranged smile as she placed her palm over her left eye, leaving the uncovered glowing eye to widen, "You want to get off seeing me broken? Well, too bad! I ain’t giving you that satisfaction!
You want an EBW wrestler? I’ll give you one but it won’t be the one you expect! Rather than me breaking and crying, I’ll turn your entire fucking game against you!
I was coerced to become an ero-wrestler to protect my brothers, but now I’ll become one to spite your little ass!"
"That ring?! I will own it!" Caesar continued as her smile grew wider, "I will rule every bastard in that ring and make you regret putting me there!"
Caesar brought down her hand and chuckled again.
"Game on, bitch. It’s on!" Caesar said as she raised her head while her face was overshadowed, leaving only her widened eyes that glowed.
Caesar then recalled pastor Ponan’s face which made her grin evilly.
"Pastor Ponan... You once said these words to me before you traveled: If life gives you lemons, then make lemonades."
"Well here is one I learnt!" Caesar said with a widened smile, "If your path demands you walk through hell, then walk like you own the place!"
"If only you were here..." Caesar said as she brought down her face, "All my life, I never imagined I would fall into this web of madness.
Fate really has a twisted sense of humor, huh?"
Caesar stayed quiet for a bit before she grinned evilly again.
"Well then... Let’s laugh together!"
Caesar threw her head up and laughed out loud like a psychotic beastfolk.
Caesar began to spin around playfully in the wreckage while laughing until she slumped on her couch.
For a time Caesar giggled while staring at the ceiling until she spoke one more time while her irises illuminated.
"Hail... Caesar."
