Chapter 1232: Chapter 1232: Sick! I Met Someone
Just as Lin Hua was about to fall asleep, her phone rang. When she glanced at the number, it was unfamiliar.
But she didn’t have to think much to know it was probably He Qi.
It could also be...
She watched quietly for a moment and then casually dismissed it.
She didn’t want to answer.
When the phone rang again, she simply turned it off and pulled the blanket over her head.
After a long time, she fell into a hazy sleep...
In the office, King Jingyao returned to his own office after a meeting, with Wang Jingchuan following behind and closing the door. He spoke softly, "Madam didn’t go to the theater today."
King Jingyao frowned slightly and then called the villa’s phone. A servant answered and informed him that Madam had gotten up to eat a little and then had gone back to sleep. She seemed a bit unwell.
King Jingyao thought about what transpired last night and felt he had been a bit excessive. He wanted to call her, but the phone was turned off when he tried.
He checked the phone number again—it wasn’t dialed incorrectly.
Then he hung up, frowned again, tapped the desk with his finger, and dialed the phone to the villa.
Sister Zhang answered the call, and King Jingyao instructed, "Go upstairs and check on Madam."
Sister Zhang heard the seriousness in his voice and dared not slacken. She immediately put down the phone and hurried upstairs. About five minutes later, Sister Zhang returned, speaking softly, "Sir, Madam said she’s feeling unwell and asked not to be disturbed."
King Jingyao quickly asked, "Is she sleeping?"
Sister Zhang confirmed she was.
King Jingyao hung up the phone, picked up his coat to leave, and Wang Jingchuan immediately followed, "What’s happening? Are you heading home?"
"Going to check on Lin Hua." King Jingyao didn’t slow his pace. "Jingchuan, you stay behind. Zhou Yunchen will host the meeting—sitting next to him, I imagine no one will dare cause trouble."
The Secretary-General was still somewhat concerned, "Should I arrange anything for Madam? Should we let Professor Bo visit her?"
"If it’s not serious, don’t disturb him. I’ll have Anxi go over to accompany her sister-in-law later." King Jingyao said, waving his hand, "That’s settled."
Wang Jingchuan nodded, watching his boss leave.
King Jingyao made a sudden decision to return home, not wanting to alarm anyone else, so he only called for the driver to take him back.
Upon reaching the villa, it was quiet. Several servants gathered together with tense expressions. Seeing King Jingyao return, they visibly relaxed, and Sister Zhang was the first to greet him, "Sir, you’re back. Madam seemed to have a fever, but she refuses to go to the hospital; she said sleeping will make her better."
King Jingyao didn’t take it out on them, just smiled faintly, "Already a grown-up, still acting like a child. I’ll go up and see her."
He took a few steps and added, "Oh, right. When Anxi comes, let her go directly upstairs."
The servants nodded in agreement.
Having instructed them, King Jingyao went upstairs. His anxious heart caused him to move quickly. At the second-floor master bedroom, he opened the door, and Lin Hua’s voice came, "Sister Zhang, I’ll be fine after sleeping for a while."
"It’s me." King Jingyao said softly and then walked over to sit by the bed, reaching to feel her forehead’s temperature.
Lin Hua was a bit dazed, opening her eyes to look at him, not quite believing it, feeling it was unreal.
How could he have come back?
He was always so busy; even when Xiao Yue once had a fever, he couldn’t find time to return to see his son. Now she’s just slightly unwell, and he’s back...
Lin Hua remembered, and he gently pressed her, his soft voice soothing, "Don’t get up! I know you don’t like going to hospitals, so I asked Anxi to come over."
Lin Hua lay there, smiling faintly, "It’s nothing much, no need for her to come."
"Let her come to accompany you." King Jingyao kissed her forehead: ’That little brat has nothing to do at home anyway. Just as well to give her something to do.’
Lin Hua smiled again, saying nothing more, just turned her head to quietly gaze at him.
King Jingyao poured her a glass of warm water and gave her a thermometer to check her temperature. Upon seeing it, he realized, oh dear, it was up to 39 degrees.
"So grown-up, don’t know you have a high fever? Still think sleeping will make it better?" He gently slapped her face, saying tenderly, "If I hadn’t come back, you’d be uncomfortable all day?"
Lin Hua closed her eyes and moved her head to his leg, lightly saying, "Shouldn’t you be blamed? I guess I caught a chill last night."
He lowered his head to comfort her, ’Alright, it’s my fault, I’ll apologize to you.’
He supported her and fed her water, Lin Hua drank half a cup and lay down again. Perhaps it was his return making her feel at ease, or maybe his tenderness made her simply rest her head on his abdomen, holding his waist... King Jingyao lowered his head, his voice rustling, "Sleep for a while, Anxi will be here shortly."
"Then I’ll wait, otherwise waking up after falling asleep would be more uncomfortable." She said softly, with her eyes closed, pressing close to him.
After all, she felt unwell, especially with a heavy dizziness. She worried about her concert, thinking about what if she wasn’t well these few days?
She said in a low voice, and King Jingyao gently patted her, "If necessary, reschedule it, it’s not like we’re relying on this for money."
She murmured, closed her eyes to rest, and he gently massaged her head to ease her discomfort. About twenty minutes later, Gu Anxi arrived, carrying a large medical kit, looking quite flustered, climbing upstairs without knocking the door and just barging in.
King Jingyao heard the noise, turned his head, and then scolded, "Not even knocking."
"But Sister Lin Hua is ill!" Gu Anxi replied with a smile, "Brother, you wouldn’t be such a brute, would you?"
King Jingyao was a bit annoyed, but since he needed her, he swallowed his dissatisfaction, "Fine, fine, come quickly, and check your sister-in-law who’s feeling unwell."
Gu Anxi murmured, "If you were more considerate, it wouldn’t be like this."
King Jingyao glared at her.
Gu Anxi pushed him aside and sat by the bed, "It’s nothing serious! I’m here; you can head to the office."
With her arrival, the atmosphere became lively. King Jingyao said to his wife, "Look, see, every time we meet, she irritates me."
Lin Hua now had some spirit again, "You deserve it."
She looked at Gu Anxi with a smile, and Gu Anxi smiled back, "Alright, alright, just joking, but now brother isn’t ready to leave."
She opened the medical kit, took out the thermometer, and checked Lin Hua’s temperature. After a simple examination, she said, "Just a chill. A fever reduction injection and some medicine will fix it."
King Jingyao felt somewhat relieved, gazing intensely at his wife.
Lin Hua smiled at Gu Anxi, "Thank you for coming."
"It’s nothing, I’m usually idle." Gu Anxi sighed, "Still miss the days with Yan Yan. I’m planning to invest in her computer company."
As she talked, she prepared the medicine and skillfully gave Lin Hua an injection.
King Jingyao kept accompanying them, and upon hearing this, he said, "What computer company? You think I don’t know? I heard you two were working together to blackmail people, one singing the black face, the other the white."
He was frustrated, "It’s not about money, just mischief."
"I didn’t do anything," Gu Anxi protested, almost jumping up. "Don’t listen to others’ nonsense."
King Jingyao chuckled, "It’s nonsense?"
"It’s about getting rid of evil for the people," Gu Anxi shouted, sneaking a glance at Lin Hua.
Lin Hua, always protective, immediately said, "Anxi rarely comes over, and it’s even for me, don’t start lecturing her as soon as she arrives."
King Jingyao sat on the sofa by the window and then smiled, "Fine, fine, you treat her like your daughter; if we don’t have a daughter in the future, we’ll rely on this old daughter to take care of us."
His tongue was sharp, and Gu Anxi jumped up, "Who talks like you do!"
"What, did I say something wrong? Don’t you two often join forces, thinking I don’t know?" King Jingyao then picked up a magazine to read, "Alright, alright, no more talking, just keep your sister-in-law company, maybe even crawl into bed and nap with her."
Gu Anxi wrinkled her little nose, "Tsk, I’m not your old daughter, and besides..."
She glanced at Old Wang with a teasing look, and King Jingyao couldn’t sit still, "What’s with that look?"
Even Lin Hua couldn’t stay lying down, "Anxi."
Gu Anxi pulled open the quilt and lay down, with her hands under her head: ’Alright, alright, such a hassle.’
She turned over and muttered, "Sister Lin Hua is only a few years older than me, acting like my mom."
And with that, she buried her head in the blanket, falling asleep even before Lin Hua did.
As she fell asleep, the couple was left in a mix of amusement and exasperation. After exchanging a glance, King Jingyao came over, gently touched his wife’s ear, and said softly, "I’ll head back to the office now; there’s a meeting ongoing. Have something to eat later."
With Gu Anxi around, he was reassured; Anxi might be mischievous at times, but she never faltered when it mattered.
Lin Hua murmured in response; King Jingyao squeezed her hand before leaving. On his way downstairs, he instructed the servants on several matters.
Lin Hua felt much better after the injection and the medication, planning to lie down to rest her eyes when Gu Anxi opened her eyes: ’He left?’
Lin Hua was startled, "Anxi, you weren’t asleep?"
"Not so easy to fall asleep." Gu Anxi rested her hands behind her head, "Couldn’t sleep, so how would the old brother leave in peace?"
Lin Hua smiled faintly, "Only you can manage him."
Gu Anxi turned on her side, leaning against Lin Hua, "And only you make him uneasy."
Lin Hua remained silent.
She was still unwell, so her complexion was not good.
Gu Anxi touched her hand, speaking softly, "I don’t know what’s happening between you two, but Sister Lin Hua, the old brother really loves you. I heard the old lady say he wasn’t as thoughtful with his previous wife as he is with you now."
Lin Hua softly said, "I know."
Gu Anxi stayed close to her, appearing intimate, and Lin Hua was willing to confide in her about anything. After some thought, she spoke, "I met someone."
Gu Anxi stared straight at her, "Feng Sheng?"
Lin Hua froze, and after a while, she asked hoarsely, "How did you guess him?"
Gu Anxi smiled gently, "It’s not that I guessed him, but besides him, no one else could make both of you look so troubled, especially the old brother. Though he was anxious about your illness, it was clearly different from usual."
Lin Hua was silent.
After a moment, she spoke quietly, "He’s someone named He Qi, in charge of the theatre, who can unlock my phone password... Anxi, I haven’t told Jingyao yet; if I do, he definitely won’t allow me to hold the concert, but the tickets have already been sold."
Gu Anxi sighed softly, "You suspect he might be Feng Sheng, right?"
Lin Hua didn’t answer, implying a tacit agreement.
Gu Anxi sighed again, somewhat like an old man in her musings.
Lin Hua leaned in closer, "I plan not to hold concerts after this one."
Gu Anxi’s eyes sparkled.
Lin Hua continued, "I plan to have a child. Jingyao has always wanted a daughter. If we don’t have one now, I’m getting older, and Jingyao isn’t young either."
Gu Anxi thought of Old Wang’s extraordinary intelligence and felt that not having more with those genes would be a waste, but then thinking of Bo Xin’s destiny, An An and Wang Yue, she felt a toothache.
However, soon she thought of a highlight: if An An grew up and was taken away by Wang Yue, wouldn’t Sister Lin Hua having another child be like giving birth for the Bo Family?
Gu Anxi usually was the most mischievous person, but at the moment she felt particularly delighted, as if this child was being born for her. She almost wanted to name it immediately, raise it at home herself... No way, let Bo’s mom help raise it, growing up together with Bo Xin. When it’s time for kindergarten, Bo Xin can take care of them, just thinking about it feels beautiful.
Besides, being six or seven years older is just right.
Just thinking about it brought an uncontainable smile to Gu Anxi’s face, making Lin Hua confused, "Anxi, what are you thinking about?"
Gu Anxi came back to reality, coughing lightly, "Nothing, just thinking that a daughter is quite wonderful."
She added, "If you find the child hard to manage by then, I can help take care of them."
Lin Hua had no clue about her secret thoughts, only feeling that Anxi had become much more mature than before, and they talked for quite a while until she eventually fell asleep due to her illness...
Gu Anxi tilted her head, "Aren’t you planning on telling the old brother?"
Lin Hua didn’t respond, only when she looked closer did she notice Lin Hua had fallen asleep, leaving her with a smile of resignation.
Then she sighed, "Sister Lin Hua, you think it’s a thorn in the old brother’s heart, but I think he might have already noticed, and talking it over might actually be better."
Lin Hua was sleeping lightly and vaguely heard, "I’ll tell him when he gets back tonight."
But in the evening, King Jingyao had an emergency and didn’t return that night. With Lin Hua ill, Gu Anxi had to pick up Little Wang Yue. Little Wang Yue especially liked her, partly because he thought Auntie Anxi was very cool, and partly because she was Bo An An’s mother.
Having Bo An An’s mom pick him up from school felt especially nice. Unfortunately, An An and Bo Xin left in another car, leaving him somewhat reluctant.
In the car ride back, Little Wang Yue obediently sat in the backseat. Gu Anxi told him his mom was sick, and the little one immediately felt heartache... Just then, King Jingyao called, "Anxi, I have to go to city C, it’s something unavoidable, please take care of your sister-in-law for a couple of days. The old lady will come to check on her, help her with the talking, will you?"
Gu Anxi knew he had squeezed in this phone call amidst his busyness, so she nodded, "Don’t worry! I picked up Xiao Yue, I’ll just have someone bring Bo Xin and An An over too."
King Jingyao thought it was a good idea, thinking having more kids around would cheer up Lin Hua, he was too busy and said a few more words before hanging up the call...
After hanging up, Gu Anxi called Si Garden to have the driver bring the two kids to King Jingyao’s villa. After making the call, Little Wang Yue was both happy and a bit worried about his mom.
Gu Anxi smiled, "It’s just a cold and a fever, like when little kids get sick."
Only then did Little Wang Yue feel at ease...
