Cannon Fodder In Apocalypse: I Rule With Sanctuary Evolution System
Chapter 74: Buff & Husbands"Retreat!"
The others immediately began falling back. Even Cai Shu’s people seemed to have lost their confidence.
They might have been capable of dealing with individual Level Four zombies, but facing an entire horde in an open field was another matter entirely.
Before Cai Shu was taken away, she leaned toward Lu Yucai and said something. Whatever those words were, they caused Lu Yucai’s entire body to freeze.
His expression became blank. He stood there as if his soul had temporarily left his body. One of Cai Shu’s helpers immediately used his fire ability to melt the ice imprisoning her.
He grabbed Cai Shu and pulled her away. Their group also began retreating. Ni Mengxue glanced at Lu Yucai.
"Lu Yucai!"
He didn’t respond. She frowned before rushing toward him. "Let’s go!"
Only then did he seem to regain his senses. He followed her back toward the RV. Soon, everyone returned inside.
The moment they entered, Lu Yucai walked directly into one of the inner rooms. His expression remained blank.
Ni Mengxue, who was busy checking whether everyone had been injured, didn’t notice his strange state.
The zombie horde was already surrounding the RV. She immediately focused on getting them out.
"Xin Ai!"
The third-strongest fighter of Lu Yucai’s group immediately stepped forward. "Yes!"
"Use your lightning ability on the grey box under the sofa."
Xin Ai understood immediately. He raised both hands.
Lightning crackled between his fingers before surging toward the gray metal box hidden beneath the sofa.
The diamonite metal that Ni Mengxue had used to reinforce the RV instantly became a conductor.
Electricity spread through the metal reinforcement like a giant network.
Then... BOOM! A tremendous current surged through the RV’s outer shell.
The zombies crowding around the vehicle were instantly electrocuted.
Their bodies convulsed violently before collapsing one after another. But it was still not enough to make the other zombies retreat.
Ruo Chiwu opened the partition. "Mengxue."
Ni Mengxue immediately stepped into the driving area. The moment she looked outside, her expression became serious.
The RV was still surrounded by a massive horde of zombies.
"Keep driving," she ordered. "Don’t stop."
Ruo Chiwu nodded and stepped harder on the accelerator. The modified RV roared forward. Ni Mengxue stared at the zombies surrounding them.
Then she noticed something strange. A few of the zombies had peculiar markings on their bodies. Her eyes narrowed. The markings weren’t ordinary wounds.
They were faintly glowing. And every time those zombies attacked the RV, the strange marks brightened.
’What are those things?’
She immediately tried contacting the system through their connection. ’Can you sense the fighting power of those zombies?’
There was no response.
Ni Mengxue frowned. "Of course."
She had already become accustomed to the system being useless at the most inconvenient moments. Having no other choice, she went to the special compartment she had created in the RV.
It allowed her to extend her arm outside while keeping the rest of her body safely inside. She stretched her hand out. Then she raised her fingers as if they were the barrel of a gun.
"Bang."
A terrifying wave of ice power shot forward. The zombies near the tires were instantly frozen. She continued pouring out as much ice power as she could.
One zombie after another became frozen sculptures. At the same time, Xin Ai continued channeling lightning through the RV’s diamonite reinforcement.
Lightning and ice worked together. The horde surrounding them gradually thinned. Yet despite their efforts, they still couldn’t break through the encirclement.
Ni Mengxue frowned; her hand touched her eyebrow as she murmured, "How I wish I was as powerful as I used to be!"
Before the current zombie horde wouldn’t have been a problem to her. But now, she would need some kind of buffs to win.
Then she suddenly remembered something. ’The reward!’
She immediately pulled her hand back. "System."
She mentally opened the reward panel from the hidden quest and quickly browsed through the items. Her eyes suddenly brightened.
"Found it."
Two Zombie Repulsion Cards. The card was purple themed, with a golden border and a scared zombie imprinted on it. Each one could repel zombies for five minutes. Ni Mengxue immediately used one. She set the range around the RV and all the vehicles following behind them.
The card activated. In the next second, and the zombies stopped. Then, as though an invisible wall had suddenly appeared around the convoy, they began retreating.
Soon, the entire horde was moving backward. The once-impenetrable sea of zombies suddenly parted.
Everyone inside the vehicles fell silent. Even Ruo Chiwu stared at the scene in disbelief. "What..."
The miraculous sight left everyone speechless. Inside the living room, Ruo Chiwu’s husbands began whispering among themselves.
"Did the zombies get scared by lightning?" Xin Ai asked, sweat trickling down his face.
Vincent was the first to speak. He was a calm, middle-aged man who rarely allowed his emotions to show. "Don’t make assumptions."
Yun Tong, an energetic fighting enthusiast, couldn’t contain his excitement. "Miss Ni is truly powerful! Even the vehicle she bought has such a strange function!"
Qi Mu, a stern man with the temperament of a strategist, immediately shook his head. "That’s impossible."
Yun Tong turned toward him. "Why?"
"That isn’t the RV protecting us."
Qi Mu’s eyes narrowed. "Miss Ni must have used something."
Yun Tong’s eyes lit up. He immediately turned toward Valer. "Could it be some kind of potion? Like the healing potion Miss Ni made?"
His expression was filled with admiration. "She’s really incredible. She actually managed to create something like a healing potion."
Valer narrowed his eyes. "I can’t identify it."
He glanced toward the sealed windows. "The glass has prevented any herbal fragrance from reaching me, so I can’t say for certain."
Vincent calmly glanced at the others. "Enough."
Everyone turned toward him. "There are other people here."
His meaning was obvious. They didn’t need to discuss Miss Ni’s secrets in front of outsiders. The others immediately fell silent.
