Chapter 615 - 354: Blockade

After dealing with the split-off entity, Chen Chuan continued driving back. After exiting the tunnel, he rendezvoused with Lan Xinnan, who was waiting up ahead. With her leading the way, it took them over another hour to return to the surface.

The exit was located right on the edge of the Deep Unexplored District, not far from where he had killed the You Xing.

Once he arrived, he sent a message back reporting that the split-off entity was destroyed, regardless of whether the Defense Department had already detected the event.

Not long after the message was sent, a voice sounded from the Realm Token: "Hello, Captain Chen. The Specialist thanks you for your efforts. For now, please get some rest, Captain Chen. We will notify you if you are needed again."

After hearing this, Chen Chuan leaned back in his seat. He thought for a moment, then accessed his Realm Token to contact his team members. He learned that the previous Rift had closed, and the three of them had been reassigned to guard duty elsewhere.

’Even though they’re my squadmates,’ he thought, ’with the current situation in Central City, they’re surely short-staffed everywhere. No one can be left idle.’

He had considered asking about his other acquaintances, but communication resources were extremely strained at the moment. Only those involved in frontline operations could use them, so he decided to wait until this was all over.

He pushed open the car door and stepped out. The swarms of insects that had filled the air scattered outwards with a BUZZ, as if fleeing from something dangerous.

He glanced at the sky. The Airship responsible for relaying information was hovering there. Behind it, the crimson glow still stretched across the heavens.

From the information he had just received, the Fumu was already on its seventh wave of splits. There was no sign of it stopping, which meant the number of splits this time might exceed ten.

’There might be more fighting later. This is a good time to recover.’

He then remembered that since his spirit had crossed that threshold, he should now be able to read the Spiritual Mark Chen Bitong had left for him.

Sure enough, as his spirit probed it, this time he could see its contents with great ease.

Aside from some survival experience and memories of the Merging Lands, the mark primarily contained two Force Techniques. One was the String Void Power that Chen Bitong himself mainly cultivated, and the other was the Flying Dragon Fist Strength he had demonstrated before.

It detailed not only how to use the Power, but also which specific Mutated Organizations to mobilize, the required medicines, and even how to resolve various problems encountered during training.

Basically, if a person had suitable Mutated Organizations and also cultivated Freehand Force, they could follow these instructions to train.

At this moment, he suddenly thought of Chen Xiaojin. ’This was probably left not just for me, but for Chen Xiaojin as well.’

However, it seemed to be purely about Fist Force, with no connection to the spiritual side. There wasn’t even the slightest mention of anything related to Spiritual Cultivation.

’He understood why. A person’s Spiritual Cultivation can only be completed by oneself. Someone else’s spiritual experience wouldn’t necessarily be a help; it could instead become a hindrance, or even a form of contamination. That was why Teacher Xue had only ever taught him the methods of cultivation and had never demonstrated the intricate details of the practice. Besides, at his level, the power he unleashed was primarily Heart Force—a combination of spirit and his original Power. Everyone’s Spiritual Power, thought processes, and combat habits were different. Therefore, even with the same Force Technique, the final result would vary from person to person, each having their own unique characteristics.’

He pondered for a moment. ’Compared to Chen Bitong’s String Void Force, Old Hu’s Splitting Force, and the Power of others I’ve encountered, I still lack a unique Power that is truly my own, rather than simply imitating others.’

He actually had a few ideas, but it would take time. He would need to gradually fill in the details and experiment later.

「East Shore of Central City」

Outside a small port, a ship was anchored in the coastal waters. Guan Shangjing, head of security for the Ferris Wheel Company, stood on the deck, looking toward the city district.

They had entrusted the captured split-off entity to the Lianwei Zhongyu Company, demanding they deliver it to the port within a specified time.

Although the two companies had previously fought to the death, it didn’t stop them from doing business. In fact, it was precisely because of their past conflict that others wouldn’t immediately suspect they were now collaborating.

Deputy Manager Song Zicheng was in the port, in charge of the actual handover. Just then, he seemed to receive a message. After listening for a few moments, his expression turned exceptionally grim. He said a few words to the person on the other end, then directly contacted Guan Shangjing, who was still on the ship.

"Director, the Lianwei Zhongyu convoy has left the Lower City District and is on its way to us. But they’ve been intercepted by the Processing Bureau on the road. The Processing Bureau’s blockade is tight. It looks like it’ll be very difficult for them to break through."

Guan Shangjing’s expression changed. "Was there a leak?"

Song Zicheng said, "I don’t think so. According to our intel, the Processing Bureau had already concentrated a significant force in the direction of the outer port. They have people stationed at key points on every road."

Guan Shangjing narrowed his eyes. The focus of the Processing Bureau’s deployment was clearly a precaution against the Ferris Wheel Company.

To dispatch such a large force and have them lie in wait, especially while the Fumu was splitting, faintly revealed a certain intent from the Processing Bureau, and by extension, the Administrative Affairs Hall and the Defense Department behind it.

Although he felt seriously threatened, once the company’s plan succeeded and they gained the support of the Federation, plus opened up the sea routes, none of these things would be an obstacle.

Song Zicheng asked, "Director, should we try to provide support?"

After all, the item was already here. They were just one step away from getting it. It would be a terrible shame to be blocked now, turned back when they were just a stone’s throw away.

Guan Shangjing’s face was grim. The item had to be secured. After all, this was tied to the Federation’s inspection, and by extension, the success or failure of the entire plan.

But their previous actions could be blamed on mercenaries. If they stepped in directly now to seize the split-off entity, it would be an open declaration of opposition to Jibei Dao Central City.

But they had no way out. Since they had started this, they had to see it through to the end.

Besides, even if they didn’t act now, would Central City let them off the hook? Given the current situation, Central City would probably deal with them next, right after resolving the immediate crisis.

He said decisively, "Deputy Manager Song, take a team to provide support. You must bring the item back."

Song Zicheng said, "Understood." He immediately gave a command, and a series of armored vehicles drove out of the port, heading toward the location where the Lianwei Zhongyu convoy was intercepted.

Meanwhile, less than ten kilometers from the port, flames from several explosions blazed fiercely. Black smoke billowed into the sky, and the area was littered with the marks of bullets and artillery shells. Most of the vehicles in the Lianwei Zhongyu convoy were overturned, and nearly all of the accompanying security personnel had been killed on the spot.

This convoy, dispatched by Che Gaoyi, contained most of the elites and recruits he had brought with him this time. Among them were three Three-Limit Elite Fighters from his headquarters, a custom-made Combat Puppet from the Original Man Company, and several hired Fighters.

This force should have been more than enough to break through the Processing Bureau’s seemingly weak defensive line. Yet now, all of them had been killed here, with almost no survivors. And the one who had stopped them was just a single person.

Everyone watched with awe as they looked at the tall, thin man standing there in a military greatcoat.

Processing Bureau Execution Captain, Xu Chan.

He had been personally assigned to this post by Specialist Liang. Right now, there was no trace of battle on him, not even a speck of dust.

The battle ended even faster than expected. Once he had killed all the Third Limit Fighters on the opposing side, the rest of the force had almost no will to resist.

Command was well aware that even if the stolen split-off entities left the city, as long as they headed inland, they would still be within Dashun Territory. With certain technical means, there was still a chance to recover them.

But if they were taken out to sea, they would be the most difficult to pursue. At the same time, to prevent the Ferris Wheel Company from stirring up trouble, it was necessary to create a deterrent. That was why, despite being short-staffed, they had insisted on deploying a sufficiently powerful force in this direction.

Just then, a member of the search party suddenly found something. He took it out, inspected it, and immediately brought it to Xu Chan. He saluted and said, "Reporting, Captain. We’ve found it."

Xu Chan glanced at it, and after a quick inspection, confirmed that this was the split-off entity the convoy had been transporting. "Destroy it on-site," he said.

Any split-off entity taken outside was assumed to be contaminated by default and would never be used.

At that moment, a voice came through the Realm Token: "Captain, a Ferris Wheel Company convoy has appeared behind us. Should we intercept?"

Xu Chan said coldly, "As long as they don’t try to break through the checkpoint, leave them be for now."

’He knew that now was not the time to deal with Ferris Wheel. Even if the higher-ups truly decided to make a move, they would have to wait until all the splitting waves had passed.’

The Ferris Wheel convoy stopped before the checkpoint. Song Zicheng observed the situation ahead through a pair of binoculars and immediately contacted Guan Shangjing.

"Director, the Lianwei Zhongyu convoy has been intercepted."

"So quickly?"

"It was Xu Chan from the Processing Bureau."

Guan Shangjing was silent for a moment. "I understand. Pull your men back."

He glanced at the sky. ’Although the convoy had been intercepted, the situation is not yet irreversible. It’s now around the time of the seventh wave of splits. And from the looks of it, this event will likely reach more than ten waves. We can still try again.’

He had this confidence because, up until now, a certain entity had not yet made its move.

’When a gap was torn in the World Ring, at least two entities from the other side had slipped through. One of them was eliminated inside the Fusion Boundary Company. The other one, however, has been in contact with us. It’s impossible for it to remain inactive. When it makes its move, we’ll have another chance.’
