Chapter 14: Chapter 14: A Gathering of Heroes
The rain grew heavier.
On the main road between Jiangning and Mirror Lake, a lone figure sprinted through the downpour, radiating boundless killing intent.
Qin Tianxuan was frantic!
Mirror Lake was his sanctuary, the hallowed ground where Shuanghua was laid to rest.
He had just planted flowers there with his own hands. He had rebuilt her grave, handful by handful of earth.
Every blade of grass, every tree, was a testament to his blood and tears.
Every hill and stream was steeped in his profound love.
’And now, those fiends from the Zhao Family dare to dig up my beloved wife’s grave?’
ROAR!
Qin Tianxuan’s speed exploded once more, tearing a hole through the swirling rain as a volatile aura erupted from him!
At the same time, from the orphanage’s temporary camp, the Night Emperor’s Guard and his six chief attendants mobilized, racing frantically toward Mirror Lake.
High above, cutting through the harsh and dangerous weather, twelve fighter jets suddenly appeared.
They were the jets of the twelve Elders from the Da Xia Battle Department.
As the jets descended upon Jiangning, they immediately contacted the Night Emperor’s subordinates.
"We have come seeking an audience with the Night Emperor. Please inform him!"
"We deeply regret our last parting. We are most anxious to see him today!"
The Night Emperor’s subordinate, head of the Martial Venerable Hall, Black-clothed Wutian, snarled through gritted teeth, "The Master is rushing to Mirror Lake! Someone is trying to dig up the Mistress’s grave!"
What?!
The twelve Elders were aghast.
"Deploy the Falcon helicopters! Get to Mirror Lake immediately!"
The twelve Elders and their twelve Falcon helicopters scrambled toward Mirror Lake, pushing through the treacherous weather with desperate speed.
At that exact moment, the Elders of the Five Great Celestial Halls arrived on a private jet.
They immediately contacted Governor Jiang Qianjun.
Before they could even catch their breath, they received the shocking news.
"The Zhao Family? Three thousand thugs? They’re going to Mirror Lake to dig up Tianxuan’s beloved wife’s grave?"
The Celestial Hall Elders were dumbstruck. They tugged at their beards and roared, "Quick! Order the Police Department, joint defense forces, public security, and all nearby guards to mobilize! Now!"
"Lock down every road from Jiangning to Mirror Lake!"
"And seal off the entire area around Mirror Lake! No one gets in or out!"
The Elders of the Five Great Celestial Halls were frantic, like ants on a hot griddle!
"The Night Emperor Tianxuan is utterly devoted to Miss Shuanghua. How could those people from the Zhao Family dare to dig up Ye Shuanghua’s grave? Do they have a death wish?"
"Enough talk, my brothers! The cars are ready. We’re closer than the others. Go, go, go!"
They piled into the cars and sped off, tearing through the downpour as they thundered toward Mirror Lake.
Around Mirror Lake, thirty thousand fully armed Iron Guards from the six joint defense departments were already converging on the area from four directions.
The Police Department cleared the way, forging the most direct path.
Building bridges over rivers and carving roads through mountains, they advanced like an unstoppable iron tide.
"You must arrive within half an hour! That is a direct order, and failure is not an option!"
With no more time for words, every faction was in motion.
Meanwhile, on the seventh floor of the Blue Mountain Hotel, Han Biwei clutched her phone, a growing sense of unease creeping into her heart.
’What on earth is Niannian’s dad doing?’
’There’s been no word from the South City Orphanage. Will the Zhao Family really let him off the hook?’
She looked at the soundly sleeping child, her heart filled with worry.
She picked up her phone and hesitated for a long time before calling her family in Su City.
"Dad, it’s me..."
An angry roar immediately came from the other end of the line. "I have no such daughter! If you’re still with that little bastard, don’t even think about coming home!"
"Niannian is my daughter!" Han Biwei bit her lip. "Please, show some respect."
The two of them argued again.
In the end, Han Biwei swallowed her pride and begged her family to help Qin Tianxuan.
"What? Who’s Qin Tianxuan? Some man you just picked up? Are you trying to give me a heart attack?!"
Han Biwei continued to plead until her mother finally took the phone. She asked a few questions about the situation, and then the line went dead.
Han Biwei prayed silently, ’I hope the Han Family can help...’
’Niannian has already lost her mother. I can’t let her lose her father, too.’
In the hotel lobby, Venerable Yuan, head of the Intelligence Hall and a subordinate of the Night Emperor, strode inside, followed by sixty of the black-clothed Personal Guard.
"Who leaked Miss Han and the Young Master’s location?" Venerable Yuan demanded coldly.
The informant, Manager Zhao, was dragged forward and thrown to the floor.
He had already pissed himself in terror, screaming, "I’m sorry! I was wrong! I owed the Zhao Family money from a loan shark! I had no choice!"
Enraged, Venerable Yuan raised his hand and gave a single, direct order: "Kill him."
With a sickening crack, Manager Zhao fell silent. He was dragged out into a nearby alley like a dead dog.
"Report! Zhao Tianying is leading about three hundred thugs armed with iron pipes and machetes. They’ve already entered the nearby streets!"
Venerable Yuan slowly removed his white gloves, the corner of his mouth twitching. "The Master has given his orders. The twelve streets in this area are under lockdown. Kill any member of the Zhao Family on sight. No report necessary."
The black-clothed Personal Guard surged to their feet and fanned out with sinister grins.
In the twelve streets, there was nothing but the pouring rain.
An instant later, screams tore through the air, followed by bursts of blood.
Zhao Tianying and his three hundred thugs were annihilated beside the storm drains. They hadn’t even made it past the first street.
The relentless rain washed the bloodstains away.
Venerable Yuan was already on the rooftop terrace when the helicopter arrived.
"Bring Miss Han and the Young Master up here. They are to be taken to Su City for their safety immediately!"
After giving the order, Venerable Yuan took out a dedicated, secure phone. Once the line was open, he asked urgently, "What’s the situation at Mirror Lake?"
An Intelligence Hall subordinate immediately reported, "No need to worry, Chief. The Elders of the Five Great Celestial Halls have arrived. They’ve taken members from the joint defense forces and other departments and are on their way to Mirror Lake to handle the situation."
Venerable Yuan nodded, muttering to himself, "The twelve joint defense departments... that’s over three hundred thousand men. Their combat strength is average, but it should be more than enough."
Just then, a bewildered Han Biwei came up onto the roof, carrying Niannian. Staring at the helicopter, she overheard Venerable Yuan’s last sentence.
Her face went pale. "Three hundred thousand?"
Venerable Yuan turned, startled. "Ah, Miss Han, you don’t need to worry. It’s... not that many..."
Han Biwei stomped her foot. "That idiot! He spent three hundred thousand to rent a helicopter? He’s completely insane! Couldn’t he have saved that money for Niannian?"
Venerable Yuan gave a wry smile. "Miss Han, you’ve misunderstood."
But Han Biwei cut him off with a sigh. "The money’s already been paid, hasn’t it? Well, forget it. Might as well take the ride since it’s here. Ugh, I’ll have to find a way to pay him back."
As she boarded the helicopter holding Niannian, a strange feeling welled up in Han Biwei’s heart. ’He might be a bit of a fool, but he’s also completely wild. He rented a helicopter just for me and our child? When I think about it... it’s actually kind of romantic.’
The rain began to subside as the helicopter flew safely away.
Venerable Yuan then led his remaining men and, with their momentum like a tidal wave, raced toward Mirror Lake.
