Celestial 'War God' Return

Chapter 440: Ci Xing’s Move

Inside the cave, the female spider beast, Ci Xing, was absorbing qi from members of the Sun Clan she had previously captured.

Ci Xing stopped her activities when she received a voice message from Cui Jing and listened to it first. Her expression turned serious when the female python informed her that those people had come specifically to hunt her for capturing Sun Weitian.

Ci Xing looked at Sun Weitian, who was in a weak condition with his life hanging by a thread. She wanted to keep him alive for the sake of his qi, but his family members came to the forest to hunt her down.

Ci Xing did not make a decision regarding Sun Weitian immediately; instead, she contacted Cui Jing to ask about those people. The female python answered her according to Tang Xiao’s clone’s instructions.

"Are those humans really that strong?" Ci Xing remembered Sun Yuheng, but she felt that he wasn’t as strong as she was because he was human. She looked at the weak Sun Weitian again and approached him. "Tch! This little human should have died a long time ago, but I deliberately kept him alive. Since they came here specifically looking for him, I’ll return him to them."

Ci Xing smirked, summoned a small black and red spider, and ordered it to enter Sun Weitian’s body. She wrapped his body in a thick spiderweb, placed him on her shoulder, and carried him out of the cave.

Once outside, Ci Xing closed her eyes and contacted the beasts in other areas. A few moments later, she opened her eyes, moved towards another area at high speed, and avoided Sun Yuheng and his group.

Elsewhere, Sun Yanzhi remained motionless in his hiding spot, his body trembling violently. His eyes were filled with terror as he stared at the giant cicada beast not far away. He didn’t expect that the Xuanluo Beast would return just as he was about to leave the area, and it hadn’t moved since it returned.

The Xuanluo Beast suddenly turned its head toward Sun Yanzhi; its pitch-black eyes terrified him, causing him to break out in a cold sweat.

’Damn it! Am I going to die at the hands of this beast?’ Sun Yanzhi closed his eyes tightly; he didn’t dare look at the Xuanluo Beast.

The Xuanluo Beast stared at him for a while before ignoring him, and it hurriedly burrowed into the ground to return to its nest.

Sun Yanzhi didn’t immediately come out of hiding and waited for some time. He left after he confirmed there was no movement from the Xuanluo Beast. ’Sigh! I’ve wasted a lot of time hiding; I have to find the female spider beast’s nest to save my son as soon as possible.’

In another area, Sun Yuheng and his group were still busy looking for a way to get to Ci Xing’s nest. Despite their high cultivation levels, they dared not move recklessly due to all the trap formations within the forest—especially those teleportation formations.

"Hmm?" Sun Yuheng raised his right hand, signaling his group to stop. He approached an injured man a short distance ahead of them. "Sun Bai? How did you get so badly injured?"

Sun Bai opened his eyes slightly and looked at his old patriarch. "A beast ambushed our group while we were facing those beast rampages, but I didn’t see its form, and it kidnapped most of my group members."

"Where’s Ning Zhiya? Didn’t I assign you to protect her? Why isn’t she with you now?" Sun Yuheng asked with a frown.

"The number of members in our group was low, and we were forced to flee from those beasts. We accidentally entered the teleportation formation, and we got separated from each other."

Sun Yuheng nodded in understanding. "How did you get hurt like this?"

"Last night, I encountered the Xuanluo Beast while it was hunting for prey; I was too slow to react, and its attack struck me." Sun Bai accepted a pill from Sun Yuheng and swallowed it immediately. "Were you able to contact Ning Zhiya, old patriarch?"

"No." Sun Yuheng shook his head. "Many formations in this forest block communication, so I can’t contact Yanzhi and Zhiya.

"Then, what about the young master? Have you found Ci Xing’s nest?"

"Yesterday’s beast rampages were truly troublesome, and they wasted a lot of our time, so we still haven’t found the location of Ci Xing’s nest." Sun Yuheng turned to his group members and ordered one of them to support Sun Bai. "Let’s go! We must find Ci Xing’s nest as soon as possible! If we waste too much time, my grandson will die at her hands."

Shangguan Qingyin, who had just come out of the study room, immediately stopped and looked at Shangguan Xinyi. "Why did you come to see me so early?"

"My queen, your niece disappeared." Shangguan Qingyin frowned. "I’ve tried to contact her several times, but she hasn’t given me an answer."

"Qingyue should be on her way to the Taixu Kingdom."

Shangguan Qingyin massaged the bridge of her nose; she had a headache thinking about Shangguan Qingyue’s actions. She asked her niece to stay in the Shangguan Clan and hide, but she disobeyed her order and went into the enemy’s lair.

"You must go to the Taixu Kingdom now, and you must bring her back to our clan as soon as possible. I will also order our people in the kingdom to monitor the situation so our enemies will not be aware of her arrival."

"I will leave for the Taixu Kingdom now." Shangguan Xinyi immediately flew into the sky, took out her flying artifact, and flew toward the kingdom.

Shangguan Qingyin tried to contact Shangguan Qingyue, but her niece did not answer her. "Damn it! When you come back, I will punish you severely!"

Shangguan Qingyin hurriedly went to see her husband, Song Zhentian, and told him about Shangguan Qingyue’s actions. He also ordered his subordinates in the Taixu Kingdom to focus on finding his niece first.

"Master."

"Do you have any new information for me, Ruo Lan?" Xuanyuan Yueyao, who was painting in the garden, asked.

Ruo Lan nodded. "Shangguan Qingyue left the Shangguan Clan last night, and she seems to be heading to the Taixu Kingdom to look for Huo Mianmian."

"As expected," Xuanyuan Yueyao smiled faintly. "Dugu Jiuyou arrived at the Empire Capital yesterday, and he will meet my uncle today."

"Will the emperor support the Dugu Clan, Master?"

"Isn’t that obvious?" Xuanyuan Yueyao looked at her. "Compared to the Song and Shangguan Cans, my uncle has a better relationship with the Dugu Clan. Besides, the fact that Shangguan Qingyue did such a cruel thing to Huo Mianmian is already out in the open, so it’s certain that my uncle won’t side with the Shangguan Clan."

"But where is Huo Mianmian now, Master? Ruo Ning told me that she couldn’t find her in the Huo Clan, and she disappeared without a trace."

"Haha," Xuanyuan Yueyao laughed softly. "Lan’er, I told you about Tang Xiao and Shangguan Qingyue, remember?"

Ruo Lan’s eyes lit up. "So, she—"

"That’s right." Xuanyuan Yueyao nodded. "I will await the outcome of my uncle and Dugu Jiuyou’s discussion, as it will determine the fate of the Shangguan Clan. If Shangguan Qingyin is truly intelligent, she shouldn’t protect Shangguan Qingyue, and she should hand her niece over to the Huo and Dugu Clans."

"Do you think she would do that, Master?"

"No." Xuanyuan Yueyao was quite familiar with Shangguan Qingyin’s character, and she believed that she wouldn’t hand Shangguan Qingyue over to the enemy so easily. "Unfortunately, she has no other choice now, and she must hand over her niece to the two clans for the sake of her Shangguan Clan’s future. By the way, what other information did Ruo Ning give you?"

"It’s about the Sun Clan." Xuanyuan Yueyao raised an eyebrow slightly, listening to Ruo Lan’s explanation of the matter. "Ruo Ning doesn’t know the origin of the news, but all the core members of the Sun Clan should be in that forest by now."

"Tang Xiao sure is cunning."

"Huh? Do you think Tang Xiao spread the news, Master?"

"Who else if not him?" Xuanyuan Yueyao smiled to herself. "Tang Xiao has a relationship with Situ Lingxi, and he has visited the Situ Clan to meet her family. Previously, Huangfu Lingxuan had also warned him about the Sun Clan, so I’m sure he spread the news."

"Is Tang Xiao thinking of using the three overlord beasts to weaken the Sun Clan, Master?"

"Perhaps." Xuanyuan Yueyao’s eyes lit up, her lips curled up. "I can’t wait to meet Tang Xiao in person."

Ruo Lan looked at her in surprise. "Do you really want to meet Tang Xiao, Master?"

"Regardless of his cultivation aptitude, Tang Xiao’s character and mindset are far more interesting than Song Tianzun’s, so I look forward to our meeting." Xuanyuan Yueyao looked away and raised an eyebrow. "You should go now. Someone will be here soon."

"Yes, Master."

Shortly after Ruo Lan left, Huangfu Meizhen walked into that courtyard. "Oh? What brings you here today? Aren’t you supposed to be busy with your wedding preparations, Sister Meizhen?"

"All my preparations are finished, and I just need to wait for my wedding day in 17 days."

Xuanyuan Yueyao nodded with a smile. "Congratulations, your dream of marrying Song Tianzun will soon come true, Sister Meizhen."

"What about you, Sister Yueyao? Are you still going to marry him?" Huangfu Meizhen asked with a probing gaze.

"You will know the results soon, Sister Meizhen."

"I didn’t expect that the situation would change so suddenly."

"The situation didn’t happen suddenly." Xuanyuan Yueyao shook her head. "No matter how cleverly you try to hide a rotting carcass, the stench will eventually be detected."

"Yes."
