She didn’t even tell him she had returned to Capital Province. Yesterday, when James asked her, she said it would be in two days.
"Switch the page back to the chat screen." James said, his fingertips tapping twice on the mobile phone.
"Oh~" Jane Sampson thought James was going to send her some text, so she followed his instructions and switched back to the chat page without hanging up the voice message.
Then, out of nowhere, a red envelope popped up on the screen.
The red envelope was sent by James, and Jane squealed and clicked it open directly.
One cent.
"James, what’s this supposed to mean?" Jane huffed long and loud, "Just one cent, huh~"
"See the beauty worth one cent’s time, can we start the video now?" James asked.
"In your eyes, is my beauty only worth one cent?" Jane felt like she wanted to punch James’s head.
Can he even talk properly?
Is this guy deliberately trying to annoy her?
"I only need one cent’s worth of time." James chuckled softly, "Is it not enough? If it’s not enough, I’ll add ten bucks more, but you need to inspect the goods before payment."
"Buzz off!" Jane flared up, "Even for a hundred bucks, I won’t let you see!"
After speaking, Jane returned the one cent she just received back into the red envelope and sent it back.
The red envelope even had two words written on it.
Return to you.
And James actually accepted it.
Truly, he epitomizes the term ’stingy’ perfectly.
After receiving the red envelope, James still laughed and asked Jane, "Have you booked a flight ticket back? It’s the weekend in two days; if you don’t book early, there might be no tickets left."
Jane looked at the opened red envelope, her small face wrinkled into a frown.
"I’m not going back." Jane hummed, then sent a string of emoticons.
[Baby is upset]
[Baby is unhappy]
[Baby is a little angry]
The bun-faced emoticons engraved the word ’cute’ in someone’s eyes.
James’s laughter also echoed from the mobile phone.
"Then should I book the flight for you?" James asked.
"I’m not going back, even if you book a flight for me, I’m not going back~" Jane’s voice was soft and gentle, "I’ll just take root and sprout here."
Thinking again, Jane added, "Maybe next year, I can grow into a whole tree of Jane Sampson~"
"Too many, can’t nurture them all." James seriously replied.
Jane was stunned for a few seconds, then she started laughing hilariously while holding the mobile phone, like a little fool.
"Why do you have time to chat with me at this hour? Is it that you miss me so much that you can’t focus on work?" Being narcissistic, when done a lot, comes naturally.
These kinds of sweet nothings, at first, Jane felt embarrassed to say them, but now she thinks, after saying them a few times, she can hang them on the tip of her tongue every day.
This is probably what they mean by practice makes perfect.
"I’m not busy now," James explained.
Jane glanced at the suitcase still lying on the ground level, her heart instantly flying to the base.
"Unfortunately, I’m a bit busy, so I’ll hang up the voice message now, when I’m free, I’ll call you." Jane was completely impulsive, entirely provoked by James’s voice message to want to see him soon.
She used the excuse of having to do some filming to end the voice message, collected the mobile phone into the purse, and immediately grabbed the suitcase to head out.
As for the hospital examination form, she could ask Coco Edwards or Harry Little Money to help her pick it up tomorrow.
Jane’s character is such that when she wants something, she acts on it.
She originally planned to invite Bright Sampton out for dinner in the evening and after collecting the examination form tomorrow, visit James at the base.
But after that voice message, thoughts of the examination form and Bright Sampton were all tossed behind.
