Jane Sampson was talking about James Black’s afternoon plans.
"How does that look like anything? What kind of yellow junk is your brain filled with all day long?" James Black’s big hand rubbed Jane Sampson’s head, "And you, going to the hospital so early today? What for? You got back to the capital so late last night, why didn’t you call me to pick you up?"
At this point, James Black suddenly became serious, "Jane Sampson, I realize you’re becoming two-faced."
!!!
Two-faced Jane Sampson.
She was utterly bewildered.
"Huh???" Jane Sampson dumbly replayed James Black’s description of her being two-faced.
Why does she feel like she did something really bad to James Black? Otherwise, why would he use that term to describe her?
"Saying one thing and doing another, agreeing in front but turning wild behind the scenes." James Black’s fingertip tapped Jane Sampson’s forehead, "I won’t pursue the matter of you coming back without informing me, but now that you’re with me, what did you go to the hospital for?"
This is what James Black is more concerned about.
"What else would you do at a hospital? I just went for a physical examination." Jane Sampson practically shouted to the heavens, bewildered by James Black’s use of idioms.
Jane Sampson felt helpless, "I haven’t had a check-up this year, so I went for the routine physical this morning."
"Why didn’t you have Coco Edwards accompany you?" James Black asked, "How were the results?"
"Some results have to wait until tomorrow, but the ones that are out are all good, normal, and healthy." Jane Sampson thought for a while and decided to be more honest.
Otherwise, if journalists revealed anything, she would have to tell James Black anyway.
"After leaving the hospital, I also went to see Grandpa Peterson, and Grandpa Martin praised my complexion, didn’t give me any medicine to take, told me to maintain my current state, and suggested food therapy." Jane Sampson leaned her head on James Black’s arm, acting coy, "Congratulations, your wife is fit and healthy."
"Hmm, congratulations indeed, you can irritate me for several more decades." James Black replied.
"You really don’t know how to talk, having a conversation with you is infuriating." Jane Sampson pouted, "Do you know how Peter Gingery would respond if I said this to him?"
"I don’t know, and I’m not interested in knowing," James Black neither asked nor guessed.
"You’re so uninteresting." Jane Sampson poked her finger at James Black’s arm, "The less you want to know, the more I want to tell you. If it were Peter Gingery, he’d surely say, ’That’s wonderful, now I can accompany him for several more decades, he’s so lucky!’"
James Black nearly lost his balance.
The Peter Gingery in Jane Sampson’s mouth surely wasn’t the Peter Gingery he knew.
"As far as I know, all Peter Gingery would say is, ’Congratulations, evil lasts a thousand years.’" James Black replied.
At this moment, Jane Sampson was truly puffed up like an angry pufferfish, silent.
What could she say? Who told James Black to have such a poisonous mouth and yet spit the truth?
Clearly, life was hard, but he insisted on taking it apart, word by word.
The two of them walked into the dining hall and immediately became the center of attention. Not even two minutes after Peter Gingery was mentioned by Jane Sampson, he was in the dining hall, and upon seeing her, Peter Gingery gestured for her.
"Jane, over here, over here." Peter Gingery cheerfully called out to Jane Sampson, "Come sit, I’ll get you some fruits. Today’s apples are especially crisp and sweet, I’ll find you the biggest one."
