James Black then moved and followed with a yawn; obviously, he had caught a cold.
Jane Sampson had just listened to his voice and thought that his throat sounded hoarse, assuming it was just because he had just woken up. She didn’t expect it was really a cold.
"Aren’t you iron strong? Even you have such a day," Jane said gleefully, "Stay away from me, don’t pass it on to me."
Upon hearing this, James quickened his pace to get out of bed. Pregnant women shouldn’t be around patients. If infected, it could be really troublesome, as many medicines can’t be taken during pregnancy.
Moreover, a serious cold could impact the development of the fetus.
"I’ll go take some medicine, you lie down for a while longer." James got up and left the room.
"You were fine last night. How come you caught a cold overnight?" Jane casually asked. Seeing James leave, she snuggled back under the quilt and picked up her mobile phone.
Jane went directly onto Twitter to check Jillian Carter’s news.
A whole night had passed, yet still no news of Jillian Carter. The search and rescue team hadn’t found her, and no citizens had seen her. Jane sighed, remembering the dream from last night, feeling a vague heaviness and unease in her heart.
She hoped Jillian Carter was alive.
In the face of life and death, personal grudges are irrelevant.
Jane surfed for a while but failed to find any useful news, so she sighed and exited Twitter. When she returned to the main page, Jane finally noticed she had a new WhatsAPP message.
Curiously, Jane clicked on WhatsAPP, and to her surprise, it was from James Black, making her exclaim in surprise.
Then she raised her voice and shouted towards the doorway, "James, you sent me a voice message on WhatsAPP? Why not come in and talk to me?"
Jane thought James had isolated himself as a patient, staying ten meters away from her.
But the person outside probably didn’t hear her, so he didn’t respond.
Jane then lowered her head again to check her mobile phone, surprisingly finding out that the voice message was sent by James last night at midnight.
Around three o’clock in the early morning, she was already asleep.
Jane clicked on the voice message with a curious mindset.
Listening, it was James’s usual deep voice.
He said.
Jane Sampson, I promise, once the baby is born, I’ll peel crayfish for you to eat, spicy ones, a big serving. Oh, and I owe you a hotpot meal too, redeemable at any time.
After listening to this voice message, Jane immediately lay there, laughing so hard with delight.
The guy who refused to talk or record anything yesterday midnight took advantage of her sleeping to send a voice message secretly.
Jane quickly saved this voice message and played it over and over, never getting tired of it, becoming happier the more she listened, her heart growing warmer with each play.
James probably used this approach to cheer her up in case she felt down in the morning because of Father Sampton and Jillian Carter’s situation?
Jane gently touched her belly, softly speaking to the baby inside, "Baby, your daddy is great, such a good man."
Good man James had just come in from outdoors and received a good person card. He placed the boiled hot water on the bedhead cabinet and urged Jane to go wash up first.
Jane agreed, then got out of the quilt to land on the ground, looking up in horror at James, "Why are you even wearing a mask in the house?"
"I checked, the internet says wearing a mask can effectively isolate germs from mutual transmission. Until my cold gets better, it’s best for you to wear a mask too to avoid getting infected." James didn’t get too close to Jane, "Brush your teeth, drink a glass of water, by the time you come out, the water temperature will be just right."
