Chapter 131: Chapter 131: The Stitched Girl
Not wanting Mr. Fang to take a risk, one maid decided to go in and check the situation herself, while the other maid stayed behind to protect him.
"You three should stay here too, just in case," Kotone Asaba said to Pingtsi, Long, and Cosmo.
The three of them had no objections.
Only Kotone Asaba and Quanxi entered the woods with the maid.
"Be careful," Fang Zhen reminded the maid.
"I will, sir. Please don’t worry," the maid said with a nod.
As for being doubted, Quanxi never bothered to explain from beginning to end. It was as if the entire matter had nothing to do with her.
After they stepped into the woods, the maid became exceptionally alert, constantly watching for any danger that might suddenly appear around them.
As a "combat maid," her outfit was somewhat different from an ordinary maid’s. The maid uniform used less fabric and was looser in places, making it more suitable for fighting. She also wore a few medieval-style plate armor guards.
Whether that was the maid’s own preference or Mr. Fang’s, Kotone Asaba could not help wondering whether that kind of plate armor would really be useful against Devils.
Still, on the maid’s long, straight black hair and figure, it did look good. Its ornamental value was clearly greater than its practical value.
"You don’t need to be so tense. I already told you, Quanxi wiped out every Devil in here."
Kotone Asaba said this to the maid.
The maid clearly would not casually believe what Kotone Asaba said, and she remained vigilant.
Then, just as she pushed aside the dense branches and leaves blocking the path ahead, a huge Devil head suddenly bounced over from somewhere and shot straight in front of her.
The Devil head showed a miserable deathly state. It was so soaked in blood that its face was almost unrecognizable, and it nearly came into direct contact with the maid.
"Eek!"
The maid was instantly frightened and hurriedly stepped back, but she failed to notice a vine behind her heel and accidentally tripped over it.
Seeing this, Kotone Asaba reacted quickly and reached out to catch the maid by the waist. He immediately felt her slender waist, soft and light, but he did not take the chance to grope her. Instead, he promptly used a little force to push her back up and steady her.
"It’s just a corpse. No need to panic," Kotone Asaba reminded her.
The Devil in front of them had clearly already been decapitated and killed. It had probably been beheaded by Quanxi, then its head had flown up and gotten caught somewhere. When the maid pushed the branches aside just now, the Devil head had bounced out.
"Oh! Oh, right..."
The maid was still shaken. Although she was also a Devil Hunter, she did not have much real combat experience, and she had not even faced Devils many times.
"This is one of the Devils Quanxi killed. Its flesh seems pretty tough, and there’s even a tiny blade fragment left in it."
Kotone Asaba removed a tiny piece of blade from the Devil’s severed head, smaller than a fingernail. It could only be a fragment of one of Quanxi’s blades.
"Right," Quanxi said with a nod.
The maid’s eyes widened slightly. No one had been managing these woods, so it was impossible for a Devil corpse to appear here for no reason, and there were also clear marks showing it had been cut down by a blade.
In other words, that woman named Quanxi had really killed every Devil here in such a short amount of time?
That was simply unbelievable.
The maid still did not dare believe it, so she wanted to continue deeper in and take another look.
"Have you calmed down? Keep moving once you have," Kotone Asaba asked.
"Yes..."
The maid answered quietly and nodded.
However, her expression looked somewhat conflicted. She had already realized that Kotone Asaba had been the one who steadied her earlier, and he had not taken advantage of her at all. When she thought about how rude she had been to him before, she felt even more embarrassed.
But she had a lot of pride and could not quite bring herself to apologize, so she became conflicted inside.
After struggling for quite a while, she finally opened her mouth and said, "Th-thank you... for just now..."
Her voice grew quieter and quieter, and her tone was nowhere near as forceful as before. Instead, it sounded weak.
Hearing the maid’s apology, Kotone Asaba was slightly surprised.
He had thought this maid was all pride, but now it seemed there was a little softness in her too.
"It was nothing," Kotone Asaba said with a faint smile.
"Ahem..."
The maid immediately straightened out her emotions and expression.
As they continued deeper into the woods, they saw another Devil corpse.
Judging from the state of death, its entire body had been severed by some kind of sharp weapon. The two halves of the corpse lay on the ground, and Devil organs and blood were scattered everywhere.
In fact, Kotone Asaba had wanted to comment on this for a while. Why were Devils practically stuffed full of all kinds of intestines?
"Another one..."
The maid could no longer doubt Quanxi as much. If one Devil might have been an accident, then two Devils like this were almost impossible to explain away as accidents.
After they made a full circle through the entire woods, they could confirm that no Devil had escaped Quanxi’s slaughter, whether it had been hiding in the trees or underground.
The more Devil corpses the maid saw, the harder it became for her to believe.
How had she done this? Was her speed really that absurdly exaggerated?
If the maid remembered correctly, Miss Quanxi had taken less than a minute from start to finish. Yet she had somehow killed every Devil in the woods and then come back out in that brief amount of time. Even the Devils hidden in all sorts of concealed places had not escaped this disaster.
Although the woods themselves were not very large, it would still take the maid a considerable amount of time just to make a full circuit, let alone find every Devil and kill them all.
Quanxi’s strength had already surpassed her understanding.
"Do you believe it now?" Kotone Asaba asked the maid at that moment.
Only then did the maid snap back to herself. Unable to deny it, she nodded and said, "I believe it..."
"Then let’s go back," Kotone Asaba said.
"Yes..."
When they returned to Mr. Fang’s side, Fang Zhen and the other maid had already been waiting for a long time.
"How was it?" Fang Zhen immediately asked when he saw Kotone Asaba and the others return.
"What this young man said was true. Miss Quanxi really did accomplish that unbelievable feat," the maid said with complete conviction.
"It was actually true?"
Fang Zhen was instantly shocked, but the maid’s expression and tone did not seem like she was joking or lying at all.
Just who were these honored guests?
He did not know much about bounty hunters, but he knew that Devil Hunters varied in strength as well. Miss Quanxi must be one of the top-tier experts.
"Then... forgive this old man for asking, but what level of strength does Miss Quanxi have among bounty hunters?" Fang Zhen asked curiously.
"Her? The strongest in China?" Kotone Asaba replied.
Kotone Asaba was not certain whether Quanxi was the strongest Devil Hunter in the world. After all, there were probably quite a few hidden monsters like the Master. All he knew was that Quanxi was the strongest in China.
"I see... Wait, what? The strongest in China?!"
Fang Zhen did not react at first, then he was immediately stunned.
The difficulty of his bounty task had been evaluated by the black market. After the black market assessed the difficulty, it gave a minimum bounty threshold, and the bounty he offered had to be higher than that threshold.
At the time, the black market’s minimum bounty threshold had been eighty thousand dollars, and he had been a little more generous by raising it to one hundred thousand dollars.
That meant this bounty task was considered above average difficulty in the eyes of the black market. What had he done to deserve China’s strongest bounty hunter taking action?
Fang Zhen suddenly felt somewhat overwhelmed. He had never thought there would come a day when he would meet China’s strongest bounty hunter.
The maid who had entered the woods with Kotone Asaba and Quanxi finally understood why Quanxi had been able to do something so unbelievable. So she was the strongest bounty hunter. Her own narrow perspective had limited her understanding.
In truth, Quanxi was not only a bounty hunter. She could also be called China’s strongest Devil Hunter, as well as the world’s first Devil Hunter.
Pingtsi, Long, and Cosmo naturally had no reaction. They had known how strong Quanxi was for a long time.
"Then... what level of strength are you at?" Fang Zhen could not help becoming curious about Kotone Asaba’s strength as well.
That was because this young man looked more like the leader, while Miss Quanxi hardly spoke and simply listened to this young man’s arrangements.
However, since Miss Quanxi was already the strongest, perhaps this young man was truly some wealthy heir. Maybe that was why he could make Miss Quanxi work for him.
"As for me, I’m just..."
Kotone Asaba was just about to say he was nothing special.
But Quanxi spoke first. "Above me."
"..."
Kotone Asaba was instantly speechless.
When Quanxi had been questioned earlier, she had not said a single word and left everything to him. Yet at a time like this, she suddenly became talkative.
It was hard not to suspect she was doing it on purpose.
"He is actually above Miss Quanxi?!"
Fang Zhen was even more shocked.
Miss Quanxi was already the strongest in China, yet this young man was even above Miss Quanxi.
The main issue was that their strength was so exaggerated. Why would they care about a bounty task of this level? Had they only taken it as some kind of entertainment?
At this moment, the two maids also looked at Kotone Asaba in surprise. They had never been able to tell that this young man was actually stronger than Miss Quanxi.
"Ahem..."
Kotone Asaba immediately changed the subject. "Since the task is complete..."
Hearing Kotone Asaba’s reminder, Fang Zhen immediately came back to his senses. "Right, I almost forgot. Let’s head back now."
After that, the two maids drove two vintage cars and brought Fang Zhen, Kotone Asaba, and the others back, while Quanxi, as usual, drove her own supercar at full speed.
Once they arrived in the villa courtyard, Fang Zhen immediately had his servants bring over one hundred thousand dollars in cash, also packed in a suitcase.
The previous suitcase was still lying in Kotone Asaba’s Kamui dimension, and he planned to throw this one into the Kamui dimension as well.
Just as Fang Zhen was saying goodbye to Kotone Asaba and the others, a maid suddenly ran over in a hurry.
"Sir! This is bad! That Fiend broke into Miss Rou’s room again!"
"What? Didn’t I tell you to guard the door properly?"
"We were guarding the room door the entire time, but we have no idea where that Fiend came from."
"This..."
Fang Zhen immediately frowned.
If the Fiend had not gone through the door, surely it had not gone through the window?
He looked toward the window of Rou’s room. It was so high up, and there were many servants in the courtyard. If the Fiend had gone in through the window, there was no way no one would have noticed.
"Mr. Fang, could you tell me what kind of Fiend it is?" Kotone Asaba asked, somewhat curious.
"...I’m ashamed to say this, but I actually don’t know what kind of Fiend it is. I don’t even know when Rou started coming into contact with that Fiend," Fang Zhen said in deep embarrassment.
"Rou is your daughter, right? Has that Fiend hurt her?"
"As far as I know, no... Now that you mention it, it is a little strange. Every time I find out, I have people chase that Fiend away, but that Fiend has never hurt Rou or my servants."
Fang Zhen said this, but he still really did not want his daughter coming into contact with a Fiend. It would be terrible if Rou were led astray.
What gave him a headache was that whenever he forbade Rou from interacting with that Fiend, Rou got angry with him. This made things very difficult for him. He was clearly doing this for Rou’s own good.
Kotone Asaba roughly understood the situation.
Wasn’t this the classic case of a lonely child lacking attention?
The parents were busy with work and neglected their child. Then a Fiend who perhaps bore no malice toward humans suddenly appeared, and the lonely child treated that Fiend as a close friend.
But as a normal father, he generally would not want his child coming into contact with a Fiend. After all, Fiends were not all that different from Devils. They only looked roughly human.
Of course, it also could not be ruled out that the Fiend was similar to the Muscle Devil, a creature that knew how to scheme and deliberately deceive children.
"Why don’t you let us go up and take a look?" Kotone Asaba said. "The three beside me are all Fiends too. You understand what I mean, right? Maybe I can help you handle this problem."
"Very well. I’ll take you upstairs right away."
Fang Zhen barely hesitated.
He truly had no idea how to handle this matter. As long as his stance did not change and he refused to allow Rou to interact with a Fiend, this matter would never end.
But this was the one thing he found difficult to compromise on.
He only regretted not spending more time with Rou back then. Unfortunately, if he had used the time he spent working on his career to accompany his family instead, they would not have the life they had now.
Now that he had more time and wanted to make up for it, the Fiend had already taken advantage of the opening.
If this young man had a solution, that would naturally be for the best. Seeing how obediently the three Fiends stayed beside him, Fang Zhen was also more willing to believe that this young man might really be capable of doing it.
Before long, they arrived in front of Rou’s room.
Fang Zhen wanted to open the door, only to discover that Rou had already locked it from the inside.
"Rou, open the door. It’s Dad," Fang Zhen said as he knocked on the door.
"No."
But the answer he received was a refusal.
"...Sigh."
Fang Zhen felt both pained and helpless.
"I have a way."
Kotone Asaba said this to Fang Zhen, then activated phasing and passed straight through the door into the room.
Seeing Kotone Asaba ignore the door and walk right through it with his own eyes, Fang Zhen could not help being startled. He could actually do that?
After entering the room, Kotone Asaba saw a little blond girl playing with a Fiend.
And that Fiend looked familiar to Kotone Asaba. Wasn’t she the stitched-up girl from Quanxi’s group in the original story?
