Chapter 176: Chapter 176: Self-Introduction (EC)
Class 1-3.
Kotone Asaba brought Denji and Elena to the right classroom.
Denji was pretty carefree. He barely looked reserved at all. Unlike an ordinary new student, he was not nervous or shy. Instead, he strutted right into the classroom like he owned the place.
The homeroom teacher was inside. She had just been telling the students that two transfer students would be arriving soon, and Denji and Elena happened to walk in right then.
Elena was not as bold as Denji. She followed him in with one hand lightly gripping the edge of his clothes, almost as if she were hiding behind him.
"Ah! Our two transfer students are already here."
The homeroom teacher said, "Then could our two new classmates introduce themselves first?"
Kotone Asaba stopped at the doorway and did not enter with Denji and Elena.
Denji looked calm, with even a faint hint of laziness mixed into that calm. Then he stood at the podium and began introducing himself. "My name’s Denji. I’m sixteen this year. Then, let me think... I guess I’m supposed to talk about my hobbies, right? If I had to say, it’d be eating all kinds of good food. Also, I’m a really awesome Devil Hunter, so if anything dangerous happens later, I can protect everyone."
The main point of Denji’s self-introduction was basically that last sentence.

Kotone Asaba felt a little speechless, but this was also within his expectations.
After all, he knew very well what Denji’s personality was like. In this kind of situation, of course Denji would want to show off.
However, as long as he did not expose the matter of being the Sword Devil Hybrid, Kotone would not say anything.
On the other hand, if he did expose the Hybrid situation, then it would probably be best to have Makima, or Kotone himself, erase that part of everyone’s memory.
After thinking it over briefly, Kotone Asaba felt he still needed to remind Denji afterward, just in case this guy could not keep his mouth shut and dared to say anything.
At the same time, the homeroom teacher and the students were all stunned. None of them had expected Denji to suddenly claim he was a Devil Hunter.
Once they recovered, the class instantly broke into whispers.
"He... he actually said he’s a Devil Hunter? It’s not even April Fools’ Day today, is it?"
"I heard lots of Devil Hunters are missing body parts. Apparently, if you want to gain a devil’s power, you have to pay that kind of price. Looking at him, he doesn’t really seem like one..."
"He’s probably just bragging. But I guess you can’t say for sure. It’s not like there are no private Devil Hunters our age."

Denji, however, was enjoying the feeling of everyone talking about him so intensely, even though most of them were doubting him.
Immediately afterward, Denji spoke for Elena too. "And this is Elena. Since she’s Soviet and can’t really speak Japanese yet, I’ll introduce her for her."
Because of the language barrier, Elena had already been feeling awkward and had not known how to introduce herself to everyone.
Fortunately, Denji’s help took care of that major problem for her.
Then Elena used a rather clumsy basic sentence in Japanese and tried to communicate with everyone. "Nice to meet you. Please take care of me!"
"Your Japanese is really good!"
"..."
Although she did not speak it very well, she still received praise from her classmates.
That eased some of Elena’s nervousness.
When she realized her classmates seemed pretty friendly, she also let out a small breath of relief.
However, that kind of friendliness was usually only surface-level.
